For me, it was a loosely threaded bobbin. I just put a new bobbin on the winder, and re-wound to the new bobbin. Fixed my tenstion problem. I do appreciate how the tension adjustment was shown - I had no clue! This is a good troubleshooting video, thanks!
I watched this video because I am brand new to sewing and right out of the gate I am having tension issues. I even had trouble following the manufacturers issues on how to thread it. You covered both issues, but the filming of your bottom hand when all the action was going on at the top of the machine with your upper hand was absolutely crazy.
Had an issue with my FS101, was getting bird nests underneath each sewing start, for about 1 to 2cm birdnesting. Studied RUclips videos for hours and tried everything, nothing solved the nesting. New needles, new and different thread, new threading, cleaning, nothing solved the birdnesting at the beginning of each sewing. Saw nothing wrong on the bobbins or the bobbin casing. Ordered by coincidence recently 2 spare bobbin cases. Gave it a try and changed the bobbin case and voila, no more bird nests at all. Even so I could not tell what was wrong on the "old" bobbin case, the replacement of the bobbin case was the solution to the problem. Just in case, as this is not mentioned as possible troubleshoot solution ;)
I followed the troubleshooting FAQ on Brother and watched this vid - which basically summarizes those FAQs. I am a good engineer and this Brother CS7000i has NEVER stitched anything without leaving a nasty bunched up mess on the underside. The top looks fine. However, even when I have a long stitch. It will start with a little bunch or hang. Then, I can continue for a couple of inches where it looks great and then randomly the last two inches are a rats nest. Fortunately, it is mostly when I am repairing my old work jeans. That material is 9 ounce twill and I am backing up the rips and holes with one of those (pathetic) iron patches that never iron on. So, I am doing only straight stiches with the correct default foot. Medium duty pure cotton twill thread on the needle and bobbin sides. Not one thing other than all default settings. Tension set between 1 and 2. Hand start and hand tack beginning and end (using the wheel, not the foot pedal). You can conact me here with any bright ideas!

🤐 one issue not mentioned when your top thread looks fine but the bottom looks like a bird nest through the entire line underneath is.....the thread on the spindle is too light( small or almost out of thread). You fix this by creating tension,(especially if your on max tension in your machine) either wind some yarn around the spindle to create more tension just add some scrap fabric between the spindle and the thread hole....anything will work. If I'm in a rush I just stick a few q-tips into the gap until I feel the thread pull is good. Fixes it everytime. If the thread snaps....😣 you just remove a bit until it's right.

The bottom thread does not seem to want to stitch along with my top thread, it wouldn’t simply not connect to my fabric. I have tried rethreading the bobbin and the top thread, and I can’t seem to find the issue. Any ideas on how to fix this?
THAT is the problem I keep having! I was hoping to find an answer here - but she didn't cover it…..Funny thing is, I will go along fine sewing with different threads and different stitches, and then, suddenly, this problem will recur! @@BrotherSews I just clicked the link you sent and discovered I've done that few months ago. I found some contacts here in Nigeria. But after relating the issue with them. They suggested that I buy a new sewing machine instead of spending so much to fix the bad one. Even though they didn't tell me the cost of fixing it. Am really disturbed about this situation.
PSA: Avoid brother machines, especially economy class (SE600 etc). They are garbage. The machines are so finicky. I've had it nest at random and jam up. I can't get through 1 pattern without any trouble, like ever. I find that I have to reinsert the bobbin, but before cutting it, i have to violently tug it through, only then will the bottom thread stop showing on top or the top thread nesting below. Slowly it deteriorates and I have to keep reseating it. Forget tension dials, they don't work, period. 1 - 9, all the same result. Hate this crap!
I had a Pfaff , I bought in 1995. Used it without any problem more than 25 years. Then last year purchased a Brother in replacement to my Pfaff..no comparison, already having troubles with simple tasks and sewing properly with this machine. Pfaff is the best.

Well the brother machine I have is cs-80 and the problem with it is the error it shows is .."machine locked, check for James threads. I look, and nothing It sounds like a loose nut is bouncing around in the gears. Really loud. Hope someone can help.
my gx37 arrived a couple of hours ago. i watched 2 videos about the exact machine and did everything according to the videos. i am a master threader now both lower bobbin and the main thread. buuut my machine just wont sew. i hear the motor whirring but nothing moves. i checked the manual, the troubleshooting section. made sure the bobbin winder shaft is on the left. tried 3 different power outlets. nothing. i rethreaded the machine 3-4 times. it worked like 1 second when i first tried it. then nothing will make it work again. also again after that first time, the needle threader wont reach the needle anymore. when i pull it down and push it forward, the walls of the needle threader is short a couple of millimeters behind the needle.
I’m brand new to sewing. What my wheel thing on the right doesn’t turn enough to have the notches line up? I keep getting a majorly grinding noise, have been checking for lose threads in the bobbin area, etc, but no luck. I’m borrowing the machine from our local library and it’s a Brother CS-6000i. I’m afraid that I am somehow damaging the machine.

She does stitches with little then a lot of tension but them doesn't SHOW you what they look like! My problem: I sewed fine 2 days ago. I didn't change the thread or anything. Now I just went to use it & the first couple of stitched made noise. Well when I manually & slowly moved the needle down (it is in the left position) it is banging into something below. You can see at that time that the needle is 'bending' a bit to the right. If it were to go straight down it surely would break. WHAT is the issue? Also I haven't been able to use the auto threader. To get the needle into the hook, I must push the needle by hand to the left to get in. But I still can't use it because the threader bar does not go low enough to line up behind the eye of the needle. Can this be adjusted somehow?
Ok so I found that I had the bobbin thread facing the wrong way. WOW, who would think that other than having a crappy stitch that the needle would hit the plate below just from having a thread wrong way? Now I get an E6 error! For some reason now the auto threader lines up right. I tried about 30 times & got the thread to go through only once.
OMG you probably don't remember commenting this, but you totally solved my problem when this video couldn't 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I was going nuts trying to fix everything but it was just backwards bobbin thread LOL

So what’s the reason for the tread pulled and gathered in a nasty nest under the needle plate and even the fabric being eaten down there as well ? You just showed us how to remove the mess but how do I stop it from keeping happening? It’s happening all the time that I want to throw my new machine in the garbage 😭

How to determine the tension number? I mean could you post the number according to the fabric in use.
Hi,
I have brother sewing machine Ls-2125. Once I was sewing my dress. On my dress has a thicker embroidery when I started sewing the thread was broken. I also changed needles & different types of foot and stitches number. Can you tell me please problem.
I appreciate , very informative, thank you, learn alot.
Thank you for watching! We are glad that the information was helpful.
The knob for stitch selection has broken off is there any repairs available or is if some thing that cannot befixed
Thank you so much. This was really helpful and fixed all my problems

Thank you for watching Ben! We are glad that the video was helpful.
I have a similar machine as yours. It is several years old, but not frequently used. It won’t work The under thread keeps jammed even with thinner fabric and straight line sewing. I have tried taking out the plate and cover. Found nothing wrong but brush clean inside. What else can I do before I bring it to the repair?
My GS2700 always making some bad understich, like the upper is neat but the under is Curly(?) nest or hanging , i've tried all the thing on the video but all is fail i still got the curly stich. Oh i'm sewing some cotton twill not that thick.
Ok, that explains a lot. Could you please go into detail about the auto threader, there is nothing that explains it
Thank you for watching Joseph! Please see the video below for how to thread a mechanical sewing machine with or without the automatic needle threader:

🤐 one issue not mentioned when your top thread looks fine but the bottom looks like a bird nest through the entire line underneath is.....the thread on the spindle is too light( small or almost out of thread). You fix this by creating tension,(especially if your on max tension in your machine) either wind some yarn around the spindle to create more tension just add some scrap fabric between the spindle and the thread hole....anything will work. If I'm in a rush I just stick a few q-tips into the gap until I feel the thread pull is good. Fixes it everytime. If the thread snaps....😣 you just remove a bit until it's right.

I dont understand that last part "pull the bobbin thread up". Is my bobbin thread supposed to be attached?
What can I do to use brother sewing machine from the US that has 110v input in 220v mains?
We do not recommend using US models outside of the US, as they are manufactured for 120v use. Performance may vary between transformer manufacturers and as such we cannot guarantee results. I would recommend using the Brother Global locator to find a Brother facility nearest you, to purchase a machine manufactured for the voltage specifications for your area:

Hi I have my teddy 600 brother sawing machine and I don't know how to oil it
The bottom thread does not seem to want to stitch along with my top thread, it wouldn’t simply not connect to my fabric.
No amount of tension adjusting and re-threading will solve the issue......
My bobbin thread is to losses, which top thread always bring it up. .cannot do any stitch now ....
Ive done all of these steps several times my machine is still making a horrible nest of thread on the bottom help
I’m having the same problem. I’ve watched several videos and have adjusted the tension, but nothing helps. I have re-threaded the bobbin and needle repeatedly to no avail.

Hello !
I have a Brother PS-2500. The pattern selector dial rotates all the way back and forth but the pattern does not change. It’s stack on 4/22 position on the display window.
Any way you could help me to fix this ? I called a service technician but the cost of checking the machine and fixing it is higher than buying a new machine. I love m’y existing machine and I have a sentimental attachment to it since it was my mother’s machine.
Thank you to anyone seeing this post and helping me to fix this.
It is frustrating when a machine is not working properly. We are sorry to hear that your pattern dial is not changing. How do you fix the internal threading spring in position #3 on the Brother inovis 1750 d sewing machine? I can stitch about 15 stitches, then the spring sticks and I get an error message to check and rethread upper thread. Upper thread is fine, it's a problem with this spring that is supposed to go up and down with EVERY stitch, but doesn't. Thanks!
My Brother JX2517 is having an issue for the first time since I bought it in 2017. As I’m ready to push the pedal to sew, the needle doesn’t move but I hear the machine or the machine’s gears inside trying to work or move. So I try to push and let go and push the pedal and then maybe after 10 times of doing this, it starts to sew but very slow then go fast after many stitches. Then when I stop after minutes, it goes back to the same problem again. Please let me know how to fix this? Thank you!

@@BrotherSews Alright. Thank you so much.
I tend to agree. I’ve had 2 brothers that give me constant issues. I need suggestions on what brand to buy.
I had a Pfaff , I bought in 1995. Used it without any problem more than 25 years. Then last year purchased a Brother in replacement to my Pfaff..no comparison, already having troubles with simple tasks and sewing properly with this machine.
Pfaff is the best.
Me too. They are garbage.@@Kaptiv8edme

I have trouble with the stitches on satin and sequin fabric, can anyone help please
Well the brother machine I have is cs-80 and the problem with it is the error it shows is
.."machine locked, check for James threads. I look, and nothing
It sounds like a loose nut is bouncing around in the gears. Really loud. Hope someone can help.
What to do if the thread keeps breaking?
my gx37 arrived a couple of hours ago. i watched 2 videos about the exact machine and did everything according to the videos. i am a master threader now both lower bobbin and the main thread. buuut my machine just wont sew. i hear the motor whirring but nothing moves. i checked the manual, the troubleshooting section. made sure the bobbin winder shaft is on the left. tried 3 different power outlets. nothing. i rethreaded the machine 3-4 times. it worked like 1 second when i first tried it. then nothing will make it work again. also again after that first time, the needle threader wont reach the needle anymore. when i pull it down and push it forward, the walls of the needle threader is short a couple of millimeters behind the needle.
My NX400 just wont sew. Ive cleaned under bobbin & needle with brush & vacuum. Rethreaded & reset bobbin over & over again & changed tension setting. The balance wheel turns a little then freezes to a stop with LCD saying its a safety issue! Help, please!

@@BrotherSews Thank you madam
I have chariot 210 when i start the machine to it doesnt move & it makes an alarm sounds
How do I resolve a problem when the fabric is not feeding when the needle is sewing?
Thankyou...You saved me from going to the service center 🙏
We are glad to know that this video was helpful! Thank you for watching Irene!
I forgot to mention, my machine is a cs6000i
Ok so I found that I had the bobbin thread facing the wrong way. WOW, who would think that other than having a crappy stitch that the needle would hit the plate below just from having a thread wrong way? Now I get an E6 error! For some reason now the auto threader lines up right. I tried about 30 times & got the thread to go through only once.
OMG you probably don't remember commenting this, but you totally solved my problem when this video couldn't 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I was going nuts trying to fix everything but it was just backwards bobbin thread LOL
