Thanks so much for this video! I have always had a fear of flying. Haven't been on an airplane since I was in 2nd grade (my first time), and I will be 40 years old this year. So yes, it has been a VERY LONG TIME. I appreciate this because as strange as this may sound, it's sort of like therapy to me, helping me to cope and get rid of the fear :)

Nice video. Great shots of my NYC including the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, where the Old World's Fair was held and Citi Field (even though I am a Yankees fan)! That was almost 2 weeks after we had the BIG snowstorm the day after the Super Bowl that was held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. I remember it was in the 50's for the game and then the next day a BLIZZARD! They were very lucky to have gotten such warm weather to play in NJ in February! CRAZY! I love watching these videos. Thanks for sharing.

I'm flying on my own (I'm 15) to New Jersey/New York at the beginning of March. I haven't flown in 10 years (and only have been out of Florida once since then) so I'm super excited. Thanks for sharing this, and I wish you safe future flights! :)

@@Solitude633 at 19:40, I wonder if the people on the beach at Fort Lauderdale can see a tiny white strip off in the sky. I know that the plane is about 30,000 ft up and by the looks of it around 25 to 30 miles east off the coast, but they still may be able to see a little white strip, those vapor trails can be seen from quite far away

NICE! I was at LGA when I flew for TWA..that was a long time ago tho... I started in 1974- 2001, then flew for AA and after being in LA for years, I got LGA again! No matter, it's cool!! Your plane went right by the TWA terminal where it used to be! :) Great video!

Just my $.02. I recently flew for the first time in my life at the age of 47 on a trip to Atlanta on a Delta plane. Expectations were high as all my family and friends were rooting me on. Guess what? It wads a dud. Yes it saved me and my 2 kids the horrible 16+ hour drive from Philly to Atlanta but this flight cost me $500 and was filled with disappointments. First off for a 1 hour and 20 minute flight it took 7 hours from start to finish. There was the shuttle to save on parking, then it was the check in and security which took another hour. Then we waited in the terminal and my kids were starving so I had to pay $50 for pretzels and soda. If you need to check a bag? $30. We get boarded finally and find our seats and sit for another half hour on the runway. People jam everything they can into the overhead so if you're the last on board your carry on must then be checked if there's no more room. 15 minutes after take off and people seem to scramble to the bathroom, like they haven't gone in a day. It's an hour and a half flight, why do people's bladders fail suddenly on a plane? On my flight there were at least 4 grandmothers who just HAD to walk their grandchild up and down the entire plane as if they were on display, holding everyone up behind them. It was a nightmare. Yes it was Delta so I expected the crap for the price but this is 2018, shouldn't we evolve into the future? If it were an 8 or 12 hour flight I would expect people to get up and stretch their legs. Bottom line is people in general SUCK. If you've ever spent time in a DMV line or on an airplane you know JUST what I'm talking about.

Thanks for sharing, love the video, what camera did you used? Great zooming capabilities.

    • @alvexok5523
      @alvexok5523 5 лет назад

Yes, I loved those clear zoom-ins too, of those large pools (water reserves) near the Everglades, then of Fort Lauderdale airport and Fort Lauderdale beach. It was interesting seeing that plane taking off from Ft Lauderdale airport and thinking for a brief second "we're not much higher up than that plane which just lifted off the ground". But when zooming out and seeing that we were really much much higher than that plane was. And then seeing the way all the hotels on Ft Lauderdale beach looked during the zoom-in (and how it probably looked without the zoom-in to those descending into Ft Lauderdale), and then zooming back out again pulling our vision up another 3 miles, and us seeing how tiny that beach looked. The plane was probably almost 20,000 feet high by that time.
I just find this all very interesting

I love how it changes to full snow by the time you are in Virginia. It is amazing how extreme the winter climate is there. From Tropical Miami where it was usually 70f or more to New York with its glacial snow and below freezing temps

There's a short cut-off at 42:59, probably because he got up to use the bathroom, but that's ok, we all got to go and we really hardly missed anything, it looked like it was very quick. Overall, this is an excellent flight video

I agree. I loved those earlier zoom-ins, such as of those large pools near the Everglades (whatever they were), and Fort Lauderdale airport and beach also. They really flew far out to sea because land was not even visible anymore for a while after seeing Stuart, Florida out in the distance. Not until they started flying over the coast of North Carolina. I loved seeing all the different views of the Big Apple as they were landing.
It looked like he was traveling first class, just by seeing how close his window was to the jetway when they pulled into the gate at NY LaGuardia.

  • @therealjharris

Looks like they flew out over the ocean (obviously), came back in across the coast of southern North Carolina, flew just to the south of Richmond VA, crossed the Chesapeake Bay and cut across the Eastern Shore of MD, then over Delaware, before flying across Southern New Jersey, through the rest of Jersey, and finally into LGA.

I don't remember where I read this, but the reason these planes leaving Miami or Fort Lauderdale fly almost 70 miles out over the ocean before turning left and heading north is because any closer they risk the possibility of getting into the way of planes flying from the north descending towards Fort Lauderdale and Miami airports. Opposite ways paths on many routes must be separated well, it's why trans-Atlantic flights westbound fly way up over the south of Greenland and trans-Atlantic eastbound flights fly at least 100 miles south of the southern most tip of Greenland.

I love those zoom ins and how clear they were such as Fort Lauderdale beach, those utility poles near the Everglades, and many others. It's interesting the way it looks like they're not moving that fast when zoomed in and what appears to be not that high off the ground. Until the camera pulls back and we see how far off that image really is. I understand it but I'm not sure how to explain it physics-wise, when you're moving at a fast speed and focused on something further off, it seems like you are passing by it slower whether it's a close-up or far away view of it.
The first time seeing this video, I thought that the plane had turned around and was flying back over Miami airport, until I saw it was Fort Lauderdale airport and then remembered that there was no way it could be Miami because when the plane took off and faced west and then turned right and headed north, it was flying north for a little while as it was flying over all those large pools or whatever they were before turning right again and heading east into over Ft Lauderdale

Is this aircraft an American airlines 737 just like the aircraft parked right next to it at 0:00 - 1:50? Or just like the AA 737 starting down the runway for take-off in front of this plane at 6:36 - 6:50?
You couldn't even see that plane anymore by 7:19 when looking down the runway, even a small speck of it lifting off in the distance. It must've already been over the Everglades by then. Because you can see a moment later how fast this plane was moving by lift-off time

When the pilot said to prepare for landing, I kept looking for Manhattan because all I saw was white snow and I kept thinking that this plane must be lossed somewhere else. Finally The Statue of Liberty was seen and I knew my whereabouts. I live in the Bronx and the planes landing and taking off from Laquardia Airport pass by my home. However, this pilot went over Queens, NY and the view of Manhattan was magnificent. Oh, one more thing. That Captain was the most polite speaking I have ever heard, and I'm sure the whole trip from beginning to end was the most smoothest and un-eventful flight ever. Too bad they don't tell you what town or city you are flying over. Everything looks the same from above and I couldn't tell where that plane was flying over. It was like being over a different planet. ;-)

backpacktrot I thought it looked familiar.
Repeating myself, but the view at 1:40:15 comes on so suddenly from fairly uninteresting winter footage, with just a glimmer of the Statue of Liberty and a few tall buildings in Jersey City suggesting something grand to come, that I get goose bumps. The Manhattan skyline is a display of amazing human intelligence and artistry.

Great video! Nice shots of the beautiful beaches of South Florida, lower Manhattan (Freedom Tower, Brooklyn Bridge, etc.). The pilot sounded like he was a nice man, cool. Please keep the videos coming. I used to love flying but now I have health issues, so part od getting older. I have loved planes since I was a little girl. I was born and raised in the Bronx and my dad would take me to see the planes landing/taking off because we could see LaGuardia from our apt. and there was an area that was great for doing that. So, thank you.

34:39 - 34:46 - at least they served a snack with pita chips and hummus dip. Most domestic US flights now only serve drinks, and when they do serve a snack it's a bag of peanuts or chips but with no dip because they'll look at adding a dip to the chips as leaning too close to serving a meal, which they try to avoid doing, lol. So like I said, at least on this flight they served chips and dip
