Very nice deck and ramp. You have been blessed with a unique skill. I seen decks at various luxury homes, and they looked nice. But for some reason this deck is more appealing to the average person. Thank you for posting. I will have to watch some of your other videos.
This is EXACTLY what I want for my son! I have been able to find any other curved ones like this. I'm hoping that I can grow my carpentry skills enough to attempt this.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing! I was curious what kind of 1/2 inch plywood you used? Was it pressure treated or the epoxy takes care of weatherproofing?
It’s just regular 1/2” CDX. The whole outside is coated in epoxy, which makes for great protection, and the tops, where you have the exposed laminate is epoxy and then asphalt tar coating. The epoxy is a bit prone to UV, but none of it is exposed to light, so it should hold up as well as the boats it’s made for. Thanks for watching!
just curious did you put some type of barrier like zip tape or that tar between the concrete pads and the ramp bottom plates to prevent water from wicking into the wood?
This is amazing. I’m hoping to do something similar soon for access to my shop. I’m trying to wrap my head around where you mirrored the slope you initially made with the string line (17:24). I have no experience with this kind of thing so it will be a challenge for sure.
Way too hard to explain sufficiently in words, but if you are always pointing your level at that imaginary center point of the curve, just project outward from the height of the string wherever you’re at. Does that help 😂? I had the same hesitations but I guarantee you can figure it out!
@@PerkBuilders you’re right it is way to hard to explain in words 😂 but I think you did a good job! luckily my buddy explained it to me earlier to help me understand. I have to actually do something to fully understand sometimes so I think I’ll be able to make it happen. I gotta say, It’s nice to see someone passionate about their craft and it definitely shows. I’ve watched this video about 5 times and will probably watch it a bunch more when I get to building. Really appreciate the work you put it 👍🏼
