I have alopecia areata , I don’t have eye brows or eyelashes, the hair started falling out after I had a kidney stone blasted by the way of Lithotripsy my dermatologist injected my scull with corticosteroids it didn’t work, my hair fell out from my head on down from my arms and legs,I have a muscle disease called beckers myotonia congenita and under anesthesia if not given properly I can get malignant hyperthermia, no one else in my family has the muscle disorder, both parents have the same mutated chromosomes, and show no signs and my siblings only had a 24% chance of being carriers, a lot of recessive diseases came from the nords and Viking blood lines, they were farmers and thousands of years ago the world 🌎 had a mini ice age causing a bottleneck in the blood 🩸 line when the population grew lower in numbers 🧬 genetics mutated!
Alopecia is a horrid disease and a struggle to keep your hair on your scalp and I do not find Chris making a joke out of it is funny because it is sad to have a autoimmune condition where medicine works and then stops working because of the healthy cells attacking the follicles that think it is a threat to the immune. I suffer from two auto immune diseases and both cause hair loss also suffer from depression that makes it even difficult to cope with it so my love and sympathy goes to all the Alopecians and people who suffer from other hair loss conditions because I know how it feels
The term "Alopecia" means hair loss and covers many conditions. Alopecia areata is one type, causing patchy hair loss. Using "alopecia" to specifically mean alopecia areata is incorrect, as it includes various types like androgenic alopecia (male/female pattern hair loss), traction alopecia, telogen effluvium and many others.
I freaking hate alopecia and i suffer everyday bc of alopecia. Im almost bald and i only got diagnosed last month so now im very depressed.
How are you doing these days with it? did it get any better?
