For anybody having trouble with this fight, use Aerith with max first strike materia, atb boost materia, fire materia earrings or max fire materia. At the start of the fight use atb boost, use arcane ward, build up one more bar of ATB and then cast firaga. Keep that cycle going with party members 2 and 3 if you can with fira(firaga takes 2 ATB bars and might be too difficult to build up by that time). Also don't forget when casting fira with other party members use it inside the arcane ward. Absolutely demolished them in less than 30 seconds.
Apparently, even when Earthbounded, my summon wasn’t able to unleash its attack when its time ran out. Was counting on it because there was only one left with like 5% health. So dumb
I don’t think the developers play-tested this. And it’s not only the first round, but the third too. Having two enemies in you at all times is far too difficult when they either imprison you, like in the first round, or only remain pressured for two seconds like in the final round, and then remove your stagger progress with Concentrate.

Who the fuck tested this? Let’s put teammate time in jail which then need to STAGGER the enemy to free one teammate, oh forget to mention they put whole time and instant death 🤦🏻♂️, like the same guy who designed the minelayer challenge to complete with which one is shittier

The last round. I can no hit round one and two round 3 is hyper aggressive the stagger never lasts. Idk I hate these so called challenges. More like bs game to me.
This fight and the mindflyer challenge was annoying as fk because of the requirements. That earthbound shit is more broken than JP from streetfighter 6. They can jail your whole team for free.

Let's give two enemies 50 hp that die in one hit and they have to kill the other enemy that only takes dmg from synergy attacks but even if the other two are asleep the ai is so stupid that they continue attacking to wake it up. I mean I could probably list like 20 things in this game that are just piss poor design

This was so unnecessarily HARD. After 6 tries, I paired Cloud/Yuffie/Aerith and had First Strike on Aerith. Then cast Arcane Ward and went to town casting Fira. Yuffie did get in jail. But Aerith pretty much took it away and finished it off with minor help from Cloud. I hated this battle lol.
Same here. I thought I staggered the wrong one, but I made sure I stayed on the target that caged me the next time, and it still didn't unlock me on stagger. Then the other just locks another party member down while I'm trying to put one of them down, then it's two of them vs one of me. It's too much.
Yeah this fight was completely unfair. If they could have one monster do one jail move then that's hard but still doable. But to have two monsters be able to trap all three of your members is not a fun challenge at all. This was almost as bad as the "Kill The Mindflayer First" challenge.
@@Kylhill do basic attacks and he will eventually shield himself using both its arms and then cast an elemental spell on him, Fire is his weakness so use that, and he will get pressured then use an ability that will fill a chunk of his pressured bar with an ability like Tifa' Focus Strike, Cloud Focus Thrust or Barret Focus shot at least even if the pressured bar isn't at max when it uses the cage thing you can switch to another character to continue to attack it and stagger it with what's little left on the bar..If you think the bar ain't near yet when you see it use the cage thing use a Synergy Ability to cancel the ability
Guys! I defeated them! Just equip first strike materia to Cloud and elemental linked with fire materia also for Cloud in his weapon (not armor) (this trick will cause the enemy to get staggered immediately when the enemy is pressured) Just start with Tifa and lock on to a random target and attack and if one of the enemies jailed her then it's okay, so switch to Cloud and if he gets jailed then restart because Cloud is the key to win.. Then attack again, soon the enemy will block.. right away switch to Barret and overcharge it, this WILL pressure it, then immediately switch to Cloud and use focused thrust, this will stagger it guaranteed.. so if Tifa is free switch to her and use unbridled strength and triangle the staggered enemy..then switch back to Cloud and do a Braver, then use regular attacks to build ATB.. repeat this strategy.. Attack with Cloud and wait for the enemy to block Then switch to Barett to overcharge Then Cloud with focused thrust Then Omnistrike with Tifa Then Braver from Cloud Then attack with Cloud to build ATB You'll win guaranteed! I did it this way and won easily!

I tried this method, and aerith dies/gets trapped before I can launch firaga in the arcane ward.
It doesn't help that she dodges like a dainty princess so she ends up getting hit
Make sure two/three of your party members have binding materia, put one Grandhorn to sleep then focus on the other one 👌
That's what I've been doing but sometimes they wake up too soon. And when I put them back to sleep, they resist.

If you hit the enemy on the final round with 2 ATB moves like Braver it knocks the OP’s concentrate so you can keep stagger going. Just a tip

Its the longest for me but you can make it quick if you use debuff spell such as deshell or if you want to spam fire spells ara or aga

This first fight is just cheating. Even following this guide, it still took me half a dozen tries. Rounds 2 & 3 are easy compared to that first one.
