Hey mate my name is Larry from Australia, i own one of each i have a 2021 Scout Bobber and a 2023 Chief Dark Horse. You're correct different tools for different jobs. If i want to go out and beat up on people i take the Scout, but for longer rides the Chief is a better option. Cheers from Australia.
I’m from New Zealand, so here we have restrictions on our licensing stages. So for me I started on a Ninja 400 during my learners and restricted (two licensing phases where you’re not permitted to ride a bike with more than 650cc). So when I got my full license (open cc eligible) it made more sense to me to get the Chief (Sport Chief). I use it as my weekend/long travel bike and I use the Ninja as my work commuter. Originally I wanted a scout I loved the way they looked but when the Sport Chief dropped I liked its style and I liked the prospect of using it for longer travel. Which I’ll be trying to get out and do over summer here in NZ. I really enjoyed this video man! I feel like I’m rambling and not actually saying why I chose the chief. But it makes sense to go big rather than smaller and upgrading again in a short time just because we already have to start on smaller bikes for our licensing system
Less weight, nimbler, cheaper, awesome liquid cooled motor. No Brainer, but I'd go with the classic. I hate chopped fenders and its got 3" Suspension travel. . Scout all day every day

Yup, exactly why I have two bikes. One for more distance riding and one for riding around town. Thanks!

Yeah a bigger bike to me is more versatile, but I do enjoy my scout for short rides.
