    • @DJPTEXAS

      I owned the first year model Scout and a Springfield Dark Horse, all subjective I know but in my opinion if you are doing any highway riding the Chief, if its mostly around town the Scout as you are correct it is a smaller bike and I did not like the gearing on the highway on the Scout. I added longer shocks on the Scout which helped and up graded the springs on the front. The Springfield was fine with the stock suspension......

    • @BrandonBicasso
      @BrandonBicasso  2 месяца назад +1

      Good info. That suspension gets overlooked. I was fine with it on the newer ones given 3” but the Bobber at 2”… whew it was rough. The front end on Rogue made the 2” bearable but that thick front tire takes no prisoners. I haven’t had enough time with Springfield beyond demo rides but always thought it was a sweet set up.

    Chief for me all day. The character and feel both trump quarter mile speed. You can make a chief more of a revver with cams. With stage 2 cams I find i love being over 3000 rpm and just gunning it. So good! The only liquid cooled engine that would sway me away would be the challenger and that will be my next bike

  • @Liberum69
    @Liberum69 2 месяца назад +3

    Chief all the way. To me, it doesn't really make sense to take a platform built for cruising and try to make it a performance bike. The Scout is fun, but a sport bike is better at everything the Scout does better than the Chief at a fraction of the cost.
    So I'm taking my base model 2022 Chief and upgrading it to be the best, most stylish cruiser on the street with power and grunt. On the side, I'll get the ZX-4RR for that fun, sporty feel (flashing the hell out of it to bump its horsepower up 50%).

    Great insight on these bikes. I have a 2019 Roadmaster with the 111. For me it just works. I chose that because I wanted the simplicity of an air cooled engine. I love the torque and smoothness of the engine, and it has plenty of power for me. Most of the time I ride within 5 mph of the speed limit. Sometimes I feel like 80-90 when the conditions are good. I never feel like I need to go over 100. So....I guess I like the torque and low end grunt best.

      Exactly! I own an XSR900 and I love it for its speed performance and price. For a 2nd bike I'd go for the Sport chief over the 101. I would want that torque, stability, and extra suspension travel. Indian is amazing at cruiser performance.

  • @lesmurray2000
    @lesmurray2000 2 месяца назад

    I just did this at a demo day. Scout engine is the bomb. 9k rpm redline is just crazy. The Chief 116 you can really feel the torque and it feels more stable on the road. I believe Chief has a longer wheelbase and possibly that is where the stability feeling is coming from. I would say if you want to really ride your bike hard, then Scout 101 all day long. If you want an around town cruiser, then Chief.

    Had a scout rogue for the last 15 months and it was a great bike for around town for me. Just traded up to a Sport Chief this week simply for longer rides and some 2 up with the better suspension. I will say that stock for me the scout had a better seating position (triangle) than the chief. So I came home and ordered the forward controls and 10" risers to hopefully get it to a better position for me. Both are great bikes for sure!

    Great video! I own both a 22 ICB and a 18 Scout. Everything you said is true... the major difference I see is the stability in corners. My Chief embraces it where the Scout becomes a little unstable "my opinion". In the end, you have to know which bike will cater to your riding style best. My advice is to buy a used Chief... they resale in the private sector for cheap. If you need a little more zip than torque then trade it in for the newer Scout. Both bikes are fantastic machines with superior technology and performance.

    Been riding cruisers for 43 years (No Harleys) and current ride is a Super Chief Limited with stage 2 and custom Lloydz tune. Recently went to the Indian Demo day and test rode the new Super Scout 2 up with my wife. That's where the 116s torque vs Scout was very obvious. Fun bike, but had I to put it in sports mode to get decent acceleration with 2 adults (I'm 6ft 245lbs) + wife. My Super Chief Limited doesn't seem to know and rips effortlessly light to light and up the steep mountain roads where we ride. And you're correct. 115mph on the SCL is asking a lot from it.

    I love the all new design of all of the scouts, especially the engine and tech, but it would have been more impressive if Indian would have simply put the same engine performance that they did in the FTR, and put it into the 101 at minimum. Essentially the FTR engine is the same engine as the pre 101 scout engine, but better performance.
    Andrews 420, or the bigger 450 cams, and a big bore kit for a base scout bobber is cheaper than the new 101 and it has more performance than the FTR, especially with a tune. Hence why I am going to keep riding my 21 Scout Bobber ABS. It's way too fun as it sits now than it would be to start all over with a 101. My eyes are set on the Chief Darkhorse for my next Indian.

      Considering the vibrations you get from a ThunderStroke, it’s a lot more noticeable you’re going that speed versus Scout/Challenger. Not so much Challenger whereas Scout has more vibration. It’s like a pocket riding that quick on Challenger. For me anyway. It has no problem doing those speeds but feels like there’s more effort to get it there and keep it.

    being heavier can and most the time actually makes you brake faster... because of weight transfer, a lighter rider is going to be able to move more, but also may have to fight against weight transfer, whereas heavier, the weight is already further back... it you watch Toprak or Binder/Acosta, you'll see how far their little asses are pushed back to keep the ass down.
    and another plus of beaing heavier, rear brake performance.
    an more grip/contact patch for tires.
    anyways, i'm not heavy, just giving some people the real deal.

I guess is due to new emissions regulations, but it's simply not pleasant to ride anymore. Oh, also you cannot put a 180 tire anymore, and the pipes will have a shitty sound due to the catalyzer placed in the galleries. I'm not sure what it would do for your Chanel but with those bikes that you can't sell, have you considered donating one to Forgotten Angel's in Florida for auctioning off? I'm wondering if it would increase your viewership there by your Chanel.

    Seriously...not helpful. lol😋
    Anyway I've already got a 2019 Scout bobber. Replaced those rear horrors with K-Tech's and it's a completely different bike.
    Already had a dirty bird on it when I bought it. It's got a tone frequency in lower RPM's that I find unpleasant so that'll need to go.
    I might go 420 cams, one of these days, and be completely happy with it. Don't think I need a big bore.

      You can make anything work with some tinkering. It’s not a plug and play situation, however. Different mounting, fuel pumps, etc.

      @@BrandonBicasso it'll make that bike great for touring. open the bike up to more riders because of the bike weighing less

      My guy Nathan has done two full coast to coast trips on Chief. Recent one involved a trip up to Canada also.😅

      I rode my first Bobber without suspension mods or a seat upgrade. I earned it! 😂😂
