I like Topaz well enough, but the only reason I'm 100% pulling for her on launch is her synergy with Clara. I love playing Ciara as main DPS, so the idea of another damage dealer who buffs Clara and who gets stronger with Clara sounds absolutely amazing.

Being a Clara main myself, I have to ask, how are you cutting the difference in terms of damage? While the enemy's attacking me, I do decent, but when it's actually my turn, I do like 8000 damage in total from all my teammates. I'm definitely am experiencing a dps loss. Also, I have s4 on the fall of an aeon and s1 something irreplaceable. Which would be a better choice?

As a Clara main by serendipity, never have I resonated with a comment like I did when you brought up the trotters. I _hate_ the Simulated Universe "reward" occurrence that spawns three of those fuckers with one ready to gtfo. It feels like punishment. It's more stressful than the final boss. That being said, I do relish my sweet, sweet revenge against the one specific blessing trotter that cleaves you relentlessly. *Feed* my Clara. _Feed_ her.

You're the only person I have seen who recognizes Tingyun as _something irreplaceable_ and does not discredit Fu Xuan for having Preservation's taunt. Yeah, it's some sort of sick joke. It really makes my run feel a lot more bitter, it doesn't help when the domain right after ends up killing me when I could have used all the rewards the trotters had to offer. I only remember one time ever when I got 2 of them. Never all three though, heaven forbid. Seriously, I'd rather fight a preservation, abundance, and destruction trotter at the same time than this.
as an avid user of the m7th/clara duo (since day one), i typically get 2/3 of the trotters thanks to m7th's freeze, but honestly, it's better to just bring in a second dps in advance 🥲 asta is also very helpful
Looking at Topaz's and Guinaifen's kits, it's nice that we'll be getting more and more DPS that actually can aid other DPS (like how Topaz can make enemies take more follow-up damage and Guinaifen can apply vulnerability debuff to enemies)

Topaz + her light cone is somehow more consistent support potential than Yukong since Clara can't utilize E6 very well, and that's astonishing.
why can't she? Just use Yukong's ult before enemies start acting.

S1 Topaz might very well be better than Yukong in this particular case.
Any target Topaz hits with her skill is an immediate 2 stack from her cone. And those stacks are practically permanent, since Topaz deals only follow-up damage.

Her light cone should be pretty cracked for overall support capability - crit damage vulnerability is a new modifier and should be completely undiluted (similar to regular vulnerability)
Idk what are you talkin about, even before E6 yukong is great with Clara from my own experients. Speed tuning is easy, your 2 others unit must be faster than Yukong, and preferebly your Yukong is faster than enemies so she can buff before enemies turn began. This way almost if not all Clara counter will be buffed. And adding E6 is just cherry on top, now you just can ult before enemies action. In this team Yukong also using skill every single turn and SP still plenty

Still torn if to pull for Topaz as I already own Himeko and have nothing prepared for her in relics though, might wait until she releases or else pick her up in a rerun to have better ground for how follow up characters have been doing by then.

Can't wait to see Clara's synergy with Topaz and Numby! I luckily got Clara and her LC when I started playing HSR. Once you understand how to get the most out of her ult and follow-up attacks, you start to appreciate her a lot. But her power wasn't obvious to me at all at first, so I guess I understand why many people underrate Clara and prefer other characters to her.

I like claras character but I dont like waiting for my enemies to take their turn. (Haven't built my clara yet but this is my vague understanding of how she plays) so when you said "Hyper speed clara" in the intro I was super intrigued.

One thing to add, with Clara - Tingyun - Topaz - Lynx line up, they're pretty much have an abundance of SP.
So, if the Clara at least in E1, she and Topaz can spam her skill to use that excessive SP.
My team used to be Fire MC, Luocha, Tingyun and Jing Yuan, this lead to an overflow of skill points 😅
But now Luocha and Tingyun are with March and Dan IL, and I’d say it about evens out 😆

@@artumbo not initially, I wanted to do a classic Tank-Healer-DPS team, then when I saw your videos, I thought to try making Fire MC DPS, it kinda worked, would’ve worked better if I invested more
But I eventually changed to Physical MC so I could use March instead, this does detriment me in that I’m down a tank and while the survivability was fun, I kinda needed the damage more
As always, 10/10 guide. And I'm conflicted. I have way too many fully built main dpsps to justify building Clara and topaz from scratch. But I still kinda want to. Aaaaaaa.
Appreciate it! I think Clara and topaz are safe investments since they’ll be versatile and fit in a lot more teams than hypercarries would - that being said they might not be an upgrade for your account so I would prioritize supports first if you’ve got some room left to improve there :)

I don't have her and I also believe its a crime to NOT build Illya. Not only because you're missing out on Berserker but also the fact that she literally provides FREE damage for simply being hit

At first I was really confused as to why March was down at the difficult tier. Then I remembered he was talking about solo sustain
personally the damage drop from running march + luocha is worth because there’s no stress of dying + march’s fua’s will be good for topaz
I use Clara, March 7th, Yukong and Natasha, I really wanted Lynx but didn't get her.
The funniest thing is that you don't want to ult on Nat and March, making use of Yukong ascension passive and have her ult super fast. I built march full damage, the shield is really negligible, just enough to survive 3 hits for the passive follow up damage, so Yukong can buff both

I can’t be fully agree with thoughts about March. As you sad, the more time you get hit, the more damage you can deal. So March is kind of a buffer for me. But on top of that, March is also a Bonus Attack character, so if we talking about Clara-Topaz teams, March also has something to put in that mix by moving forward pig’s action. It’s kind a situational conditions, but if you will encounter a multihit enemy and all of those attacks will be targeted at Clara under the March’s shield, u can expect a 100% forward move for the pig only from March counters
thanks for your thoughts! the only problem with march is her counter attacks are locked to single target so you pretty much need the enemy with proof of debt to hit your shielded character - you could still get one or two march follow ups per cycle but it's a lot less reliable than say clara with her ult potentially being able to cleave
so the question will be if march's 1 or 2 procs on numby's advance forward per cycle beats just running a harmony/nihility for 50-70% more damage (assuming she can't solo sustain)

I will say that when considering numby's action advance, march and Clara could potentially give 100av to numby in 1 action. Hopefully there's a lightcone for preservation in the future that incentives holding ultimate like subscribe for more. Biggest concern with march is AoE, but if Clara is mainly getting hit she'll be fine.
yeah march's follow up attacks are nice in a topaz clara comp but she'd really have to solo sustain and you'd still want to run a tingyun/asta/yukong/pela/sw as 4th slot
it could help if you put fu xuan's lc on march but that's already a stretch 😭

Clara was my first 5 star and I still really enjoy having her in my teams. Can't wait to add Numby to the party hehe
I maxed, fully invested, got her LC and Carried through MoC Since the beginning of 1.1 with CLARA for 30/30 every time, I absolutely have never missed out on her immense potential and hope to one day E6 her!
i share the same goal as you! she helped me clear moc early as well and i hope we both get her e6 eventually :)
Clara was my first 5* and carried me through most of early game. She will always be my favourite physical DPS! She also made me fall in love with follow-up attacks xD

Technically, Clara + Topaz + Lynx + March does work out well. However, slotting march out for another unit, basically a flex unit is more ideal for damage. However, March does give thick shields and that does help with Clara's damage mitigation and the need to heal often.
this is still pretty good information as someone who doesn't want topaz but wants clara, im so close to my free 300 standard... im almost ready to buy her cone too
hope you hit that 300 soon! her lc is very good but if you want to save the starlight s5 aeon is very close if she can maintain good uptime on breaks
you say gepard isn't good but I raise you this: gepard without his a2 activated. clara can be on the edge with gepard adjacent so he soaks blast damage, clara's a2 also has a form of debuff mitigation
One argument for using March would be 2 or 3 follow up attacks per turn meaning if you use topaz, she will really help numby act constantly
yeah but that means the proof of debt enemy needs to be attacking your shielded character otherwise march will hit the wrong enemy

i currently have an accidental e2 clara and e0 numby, will test how well this goes
i played since release and my two teams are daniel and clara, with daniels team being him, natasha, pela, yukong and my clara with tingyun, lynx and march 7th being temporary, cant wait for topaz honestly cause the only problem with clara is her consistency and i think that topaz can be a good sub dps to cover claras weakness,
also for anyone wondering why i dont have more 5 stars even tho i played since release, it was cus i made 2 accounts, 1 was my main and 1 was my dedicated saving for blade account. i deleted honkai and missed half of 1.1 and 1.2 entirely. i started to get playing again and met daniel, and having saved up around 200 pulls for a missed, what i hoped to get a e6 blade, i went crazy on him and got e2 s1😀(very far from a e6 blade as you can see but he slapping hardd) also managed to get claras s1 too, and also got welt which is kinda good with daniel

Is there a chance slow Yukong could be more valuable in a clara, topaz, and lynx team because theyre all so sp positive and it allows for yukong to spam skill, or would it still be better to just run Tingyun
Does "increases the damage enemy takes" work differently than defense reduction? I'm curious if proof of debt might be a wash compared to Pela ult in terms of increasing Clara's damage (though obviously Topaz herself would make a heavy contribution to team damage instead of being an ult bot).

Me taking down notes how to build tingyun in the clara/topaz video
I've personally been running a team of Fu Xuan, Silver Wolf, Clara, and Shushang, and have had a lot of sucess with it. With just two elements Silver Wolf's weakness implant is really helpful against enemies already weak to quantum or physical, so it let's my team shred through boss toughness bars so Shushang can go crazy on them. I was also lucky enough to get Fu Xuan E1 which increases the entire teams crit dmg, so I've been using her as a pseudo harmony character. Thanks to her my Clara is sitting on 78 crit rate and 190 crit dmg. Once I get Topaz I'll replace Shushang, and I'll probably replace Silver Wolf with Tingyun or Asta
Got my e2 for Clara from JingLiu's banner I think the universe wants to tell me something. I don't think I have enough to pull for Topaz unfortunately but I'll hope for a lucky pull

Love Clara, but can’t afford Topaz. I wanted a second Dps so I pulled for Jing Liu and now I’m dead broke but I do have E6 QQ and Tingyung, and E1 Bronya. Banner was amazing for me and I’m finally good on teams.
after Clara Ult ... her follow up attack hits multiple enemies so if one of them have proof of debt it will trigger Topaz kit?

it didnt mention that you have to target/hit the enemy with proof of debt SOLO so splash/AOE attack will be counted as hitting the enemy that have proof of debt?
the attack type is "follow-up attack" so even if it's just the cleave, it'll proc numby's action advance forward on proof of debt targets and receive increased damage because it's a follow-up attack

some say that its kinda RNG because the enemy that have proof of debt need to attack clara just to activate Topaz kit
Clara ult gets more taunt and even if the enemy that have proof of debt dont attack clara.. Clara's enhance follow up attack can hit multiple targets high chance that the enemy with proof of debt will get hit
I started a follow up only account(because numby is precious) and i got lucky with clara as my departure 5*. With only 3 chars being clara, march, and herta i made it to the last phase of cocolia at trailblaze lvl 36... And lost, she had 9% hp left. Elation path is broken and a full team that can do that will go crazy. Gl to all future numby havers!
that account sounds like fun! elation is probably the most interesting path since you just need a follow-up attack to proc most things - hope you get topaz, she'll be insane for you :)

They should add a unit that gives a "target" buff/debuff on an ally, making SURE the enemies will attack that unit instead.
March shield, Lynx skill etc increases the chances of getting hit, but I do not notice a difference ☠️

Could March be good for doubling up on Follow Ups for Topaz?
Pretty good insight, but march works with both clara and topaz just fine. My March doesn't even have relics and she is able to sustain vs lvl 80 enemies. xD You just simply don't have to ulti with her and save it for any potential fatal hits. If Clara has her ulti up and march has her shield on clara that is like a 90% chance clara will be targeted. You aren't going to take a lot of damage to really anyone else.
March doesn't add much with her follow ups, but sometimes she does give you an extra numby attack or 3. Physical and Ice weakness enemies are commonly put together or are diverse enough as elements that most content has those weaknesses in them.
I'm kind of interested in what 5 star march will look like. Since they are implying it with clues as hard as they did with dan heng. She could be another benefitter for Topaz if she retains the follow up attack theme. Which she might considering it's her unique aspect as a unit. Dan Heng retained some of his aspects from his Hunt Variation when he got the new unit. Though not much, as Dan Heng isn't as creative of a unit as March is. Reason I bring it up is that might be happening in the second half of the next planet's story whenever that comes out. So soon enough to start saving for her now if it happens.

I gave her Def boots to test her solo run in SU, and I kinda leave it like that since I mainly use her on SU and SD now because Elation blessing just that good I don't feel the need to raise her dmg
yeah i used def boots when i did solo runs in SU and it's super comfy
I started in 1.2 and managed to get 30 stars on the last MoC thanks to "losing" a Fu Xuan 50/50 to Clara. She hasn't been great for the current MoC, but I've still had her and Lynx pair up with Pela and Yanqing for my most cursed team set-up (notably to fight the Kafka+Shapeshifter stage).

I don't think it's that sad, it's just how the cards fell for that roll... and it wasn't my only roll on that banner. Personally I think I got lucky.

About preservation with clara
I also think march should have a pretty high up spot in the clara team
And even better with topaz
March increases taunt value + giving a shield to clara so she can be more tanky
Plus she also do follow up attacks which would help alot with Numby's advancement
Just a few downside that she is only there purely for tanking and taunting
You can't use her ult since freezes, her attack damage is not very good
But she would still be a good pair
A team like clara, march, topaz, healer would be really solid
the problem is that you'd get a lot more out of bringing another buffer like tingyun/asta/pela instead of march in a team like that - it can still work but march's follow-up attacks are locked to single target and won't advance numby forward enough to make her a better fit on the team than another buffer
we'll see though! can't wait to try her out when she releases :)

I actually think that March can be a good, even skill-point efficient solo sustainer… but not necessarily with Clara. I use her with Gepard’s LC and just have her shield herself. As long as she’s far away from my DPS and firing off ults, then her taunt value, defence bonus, and constant freezes should keep the team alive.
She’s like fire MC but with more crowd control and threat-negation utility (especially bc of how quickly she gets her ult when shielding herself). And I think freezing is probably one of the most slept on defensive abilities in the game. I mean, just look at how those dissociations kept your solo Jing Yuan alive lol.
But that whole build revolves around her taking ~90% of all attacks while cancelling the hard-hitting or AoE ones… which you wouldn’t want to do with a Clara. Never thought about it that way before, but you’re totally right. Lynx is a much better partner for her.
Please, can you tell me if topaz works well with jing? Should I pull her if I don’t have neither himeko, nor clara?
topaz will buff follow up attacks but im not sure (highly unlikely) if she'll be better than the current fu xuan/asta/tingyun team with jing

I do have gurantee but still undecided. I will wait for the next drip market since I wont pull HuoHuo because I do have many sustains and Argenti since he is erudition and if only need to pull destruction if you are pulling DPS units

I plan to rebuild my Clara soon as she will be good for Topaz. So im hoping to get big upgrades for my relics, Ive felt like i neglected Clara for a long time and used good enough relics but not as great as my JingLiu or Lunae builds. My Clara is e1 with her sig LC so i feel like owe it to her to invest into her more.
Hold off until next patch to work on her relics, same with Topaz. You'll thank me later 😉

@mikushoe594 for some reason I had it in my head that Topaz skill only applied proof of debt and no damage, so needed something to eat skill points, and Guinaifen applies a dmg taken debuff. No need to be a dick about it.

I'm trying to build a time around her, but i don't have topaz. I'm considering the following: Clara + Tingyun + Luka + Lynx. I think Luka with his signature LC and his kit can both Increase the dmg enemies receive and shred their Def, I don't wanna use Pela because she sometimes freezes enemies (i don't have SW), I also have both Luocha and Fu Xuan, but i can't decide who is best for her... I like the aggro thing provided by lynx and the crit rate from fu xuan, but i'm still unsure... Any thoughts for me?

that being said, fu xuan is also a crazy good solo sustain for clara if you want more survivability and other bonuses
I really hope I get either Clara or Bronya for my next standard banner 5 star. Then I can use my 300 pull reward for the other. Otherwise I'd be really torn choosing...
it might be tough but i'd recommend waiting until you get your next standard 5 star before using the selector! waiting sucks but it'll be worth guaranteeing you get both instead of getting double of one 😭

adding to the argument against March 7. it's extremely annoying when an enemy is both ice and phys weak and march 7 beats Clara to the weakness break. Enemy gets frozen and since March 7's dmg is normally lower than Clara's, u lose a ton of damage.
very good point! every time i fight the ascended with clara and march on the same team i feel like march gets the break and it's just pain
not only that, ice break doesn't deal damage while physical break deals the highest

i wouldve totally pulled for topaz if she came out at a different time! topaz, clara, lynx and tingyun wouldve been such a monster combo!! Gotta stay strong for argenti i suppose...

Clara was my first 5* and she's been carrying me even with C tier relics. If I can win the 50/50 I can sub Fire break MC for Topaz and ZOOM through MoC.
Current Clara team: Fire MC, Clara, March, Bailu
P.S if you have 3k+ defense on March Clara essentially has a second health bar. When I refarm relics, I'm doing Clara's and March. March will have defense main stat with dps substats. The best of both worlds 😌
She's a great unit, the enemies just want to target someone else instead of her

march is great against enemies with little aoe damage, but if the enemy hits everyone (especially we don’t forget about miss-i-die-first fox) then this is a very bad option but i love her
and im notice sometimes that enemy is very slow for clara (this is of course compensated if clara hits with very large numbers) but there are 2 options: very pumped up clara or…. fast enemy thats all. so thats why i dont keep clara so often in moc but she is nice

Your probably Right, about Clara’s best team, but personally I’m going to probabaly use March, Clara, SW, Topaz. As my team instead, (although SW skill being a 1/4 to help topaz will hurt). To which in this set up, March is probabaly better then a different sustain since she combos with Topaz as well as Clara, while still her ult is anti synergy to Clara still. Who cares if I’m skill point negative on March if she is the only one who has to spend them.
I wanna pull for topaz and numby but im saving this for 1.6 so ill just get her on the rerun hopefully

just in case anyone missed the details, Topaz Numby will buff playable character, which is :
1. Blade
2. Clara
3. Yanqing
4. Herta
5. even March
6. also Kafka
all of follow up attack will be buffed and automatically opens up more option in the future (like Kafka) which is a great investment in my opinion. If hoyo already done will destruction era, i believe the follow up attack era will be broken (just look at premium follow up / destruction char aka Blade).
lots of great potential synergy in the future as well, follow-up attacks are super cool

I would love to have Clara. I got Tinyun and Bronya on beginner banner and Clara's lightcone was my first on standard. I'm debating getting Clara or E1 Bronya with the 300 but that's still far.
I did finally get a character on standard (Welt and just got Gepard). Both are unbuilt but I heard they are great. I'm going for Gwen for Kafka and if I get Topaz that's fine, especially if I ever get Himeko since would definitely build her if I ever get her.

i got clara as my first 5 star but early on she just cant carry the early game for me.
the shortly i got gepard and early game content been a breeze. until i get into the end game where clara outpace gepard in all situation.

I was considering rolling for Topaz, kinda hmm-ing and hah-ing about how much use I'd get out of her, how effective she would be with who I have, etc.
Aaaand then Standard Banner gave me a Clara. RNGesus gave a nice nudge there.
(I'd probably roll Topaz anyway for neuron activation, but now I have a great reason to roll her)

oof yeah that'll be tough but i'd almost guarantee sw will be the better pull if you're looking for value
The number of times I tried clara with swarm 5 entering a reward domain, only to be disappointed with a trotter “reward” is way too many to count. Honestly should have saved for topaz instead of pulling for jingliu, but oh well. I have tried fire trailblazer as a secondary sustain, it can be nice to taunt away CCs, and place clara next to him/her to potentially get cleaved, but not that good.
The trotters always show up at the WORST times and every time I play Clara or blade 😭

Despite the little bbit of antisynergy she has with clara, March is is going to get more interesting with topaz since she wil be able to consistently give an additonal followup attack every enemy turn.
yeah there is some potential but her follow-up attack is only single target and can't cleave like clara - so you might only get one or two of them on the proof of debt target per cycle
@@artumbo Ya it's just single target but she is the only character who consolidates sustain, taunt , and follow up attack consistently. Once you consider that one of her skills usage would equal one bumby attack (essentially 2 follow ups)it makes her higher skill point usage more palatable. Also faster you kill less you need to worry about sustaining.
Still no Clara for me. Or welt, ice boy, or dragon girl. I do have e1 bronya though. That's all I really wanted. Clara seems like a need though
