Im a westerner, ive been playing music most of my life. Ive touched on so many genres from metal to country, to classic and hard rock, to jazz and classical music, avante gaurd and experimental, but this is something shockingly new to me. The semi tones and unusual time signatures and phrases completely turned composition on its head for me. Thankyou for re opening my eyes to just how deep the creative currents flow within the all sacred sound.
The most profound thing about Art is that it makes you cry. Nothing more... Nothing less... It affirms our existence not by negating possibilities which lie outside the human experience, but by bringing us back to rediscover our roots - a quotidian struggle to prevail in a world of fleetingness, a world where we trespass our own shadows, and stare at the face of our own mortality with a sense of renewed courage. We are humbled.
A daily dose of Dhafar has become my new Meditation Practice. We need this in a world so full of pain and insanity. This is the energy to heal our broken Spirits and bring hope.
is it possible that i just discovered them this week ?? I can feel true hapiness and fullness hearing to these amazing musicians. They prove that human soul is still alive, and they are one of the ways to help us connect to something pure. We need to protect our incredible artists... Long and happy life to them.

I truly hope that Belgrade will have the honor to at least hear a small part of this magnificent musicians performance on 24th of September. Such a shame that Mr. Husnu Senlendirici and Mr. Aytach Dogan will not be their guests this time. I believe this concert is a fusion of Turkish awesome music and Arabic(Sufism) vocal and traditional Iranian music, which makes it so profound and flawless.

I have been watching this video continually since it was first published here. For some reason, I find it the best of Dhafer's live performances. The chemistry between him and Husnu is astounding, out of all their performances together I've seen. Aytac Dogan and Eivind Aarset as well are killing it with their riffs and improvs. I hope I can find out the personal aspect of these musicians' relationship. This level of musical rapport just doesn't develop from mere rehearsing. There must be solid personal chemistry. And many shared stoned jam sessions.
Couldn't agree more! I get more and more impressed every time i watch and listen to this concert and my friends can't believe that I'm not tired of this concert yet. Husnu has such good control and a beautiful sound and Dhafer's voice is just incredible. True talent and passion!
I love this, it engages the soul. Around minute 13 there is even a riff from Chinese music. I don't know what it's called, but I heard it from the Guo brothers, who were playing in the street in London around 1989. They made a brilliant cassette of their music; majical stuff too. Music is a truly universal language.
Please please PLEASE either remove the mid roll adverts or else manually place them to coincide with the end of each song. The badly placed interruptions are destroying the beauty and power of these unbelievably incredible performances :(
Karen Varian Cool, a real Yooper! How's winter? :-) Greetings from Germany. Hoping to visit your beautiful state soon. Until then I am gonna reread my Steve Hamilton novels ;-) p.s.: I saw Dhafer just recently here in Berlin. It was a magical perfomance. If you ever have the chancr to hear him live, take it!
I would love to see him live!! I watch his RUclips videos. He is so much fun to watch because he loves what he does! His music is luminous, heartbreaking and wonderful. I never tire of listening to him. The U.P. is in the midst of winter. Not a lot of snow, some chilly days and nights but still beautiful!! Come visit!
Karen Varian I'd really love to. Hopefully one day I'll come to the U.S. - and New England and Michigan will be a must visit for me. Have you ever read Steve Hamilton's 'A Cold Day In Paradise'? When I read it, I immediately fell in love with the U.P. But back to topic: The concert here in Berlin was marvelous. It was only half sold so there were some gaps in the audience. Towards the end of the concert, Dhafer asked us to come down to the stage (in the Kammermusiksaal the audience is placed in a circle around and above the stage). And so we did. We stood around the musicians, just a few feet away, and everyone was clapping or dancing or both and really enjoying themselves. It was a very intimate moment of pure musical beauty and power. Marvelous.

Please please PLEASE either remove the mid roll adverts or else manually place them to coincide with the end of each song. The badly placed interruptions are destroying the beauty and power of these unbelievably incredible performances :(
I watched the entire video more than once a day during the last two or three weeks, and I am still far from getting bored

This music is so beautiful. I am so glad to have discovered Dhafer Youssef. A true artist! Greetings from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, USA

Cool, a real Yooper! How's winter? :-) Greetings from Germany. Hoping to visit your beautiful state soon. Until then I am gonna reread my Steve Hamilton novels ;-)
p.s.: I saw Dhafer just recently here in Berlin.
Come visit!

I'd really love to. Hopefully one day I'll come to the U.S. - and New England and Michigan will be a must visit for me. Have you ever read Steve Hamilton's 'A Cold Day In Paradise'? When I read it, I immediately fell in love with the U.P.
But back to topic:
The concert here in Berlin was marvelous. Marvelous.
