      Eh, that's not correct. I checked Amazon and saw no mention of grit on any of the listings. But take two polished balls, use reacta skuff on one and a fresh 2k pad on the other and tell me those are remotely close. I'm sure Jayhawk would let me borrow a surface scanner to check, but you could ask 100 people and they'd all tell you skuff isn't close to 2k

    Bought one of these a couple months ago. Made an appointment w my PSO for the day after league to see how i felt about the Reactagloss.
    We removed it. 500, 1k, 2k, 3k, and then finished at 4k.
    Drilled pin above ring(right hand) and now its so much more controllable. My confidence w it regardless of the condition, it's nice to have a ball that compliments my style. Highly recommend!
    The scent is strong.. reminds me of Publix bakery.

    But you're right. Surface is everything. I can't stand the Lock when it's dull and I did throw my 2LS one this way at first. Definitely didn't like what I saw and couldn't read it so I shined it up. After that, it's as the infamous guy from TikTok sings, "BERY GOOD BERY NIIIICCCEEE!!! BERY GOOD BERY NIIIICCCEEE!!!"

    Hey Luke I think I got it... I think most of the disappointment is because the only that changed on the other replacements were the color and types of cover, nothing else. Wolverine, Phaze 5. With the Revenant, it seems like there's another change that's not the same. Then also, as you said previously, the color. The Spectre had a lot of red in it.

      @Luke Rosdahl when I get my Revenant, I'm going to start with 4000 then CTD polish, and then try 1500 and polish. I appreciate how you add the different surfaces. I bought my ball spinner based on the videos you did showing the difference between a fresh 2000 pad and a used one. You and Ron Hickland have some of best ball educational videos. I used to be scared to change the surface because I thought I would mess up the bowling ball... your comment about how box surface is just a recommendation is the line of the year for people who want to improve their game. Thank you!

  • @vance836
    @vance836 Год назад +1

    Luke.....it needs to be said that the surface is not the same under the polish as the Spectre. My understanding is that Storm goes all the way to 4000 before using Reacta-Gloss whereas 1500 polish was 1000 plus Step 2. So my thought it if we take the Revenant down to 1000 first and then add Step 2 or Reacta Gloss then we will see a more direct comparison to the Spectre. But by doing so; you also close that gap to the Fate.

    • @LukeRosdahl

    It sounds like I should grab a Fate… not mad at all. I have an Incite which I LOVE. Want a Dark Code, but don’t need it. Thought about a Night Road, but I’ve liked the look of the Fate more than every Belmo signature (except maybe your sweetheart, the Pro Motion). I was loving the numbers on the Revenant, but if it’s that similar to the Hyroad Pearl, I’ll hold off. I don’t have a huge need for a big arsenal, as I’m not doing tournaments.

  • @Trblmkr07

    @Luke, I'd love to see a comparison between the Revenant and the Phase 5. I'm currently using a Storm Optimus and both of the balls mentioned are what Storm suggest for replacements (need to drop to 14# ball). Would love to hear your thoughts on the two. Thanks and keep up the great reviews.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад

      I thiiiiiink I made one, I think I have a Fate, Revenant, and P5 video . . but if you're replacing the Optimus with a 14 pound ball, all the numbers change quite a bit, so you're going to need to go a different direction to replace it more directly. Now at the same time, it's tough matching up numbers because whatever you get now is going to be a lot stronger out of the box than the Optimus is NOW, I'd imagine it's tamed down a fair amount since you got it. I'd actually recommend the Zen to replace it if we're comparing new 15 Optimus to new 14 Zen, however I might recommend 14 Phaze 5 if you're trying to replace the Optimus NOW reaction. It's always tricky without being able to see the ball reaction now, Angel had an Optimus a while back but it's been gone for a bit now.
      I think the Zen more closely matches the overall reaction of the Optimus, and in 14 pounds it retains similar core numbers to the 15 a lot more closely than anything else, so that's what I would recommend. It's naturally going to be a bit stronger, but once you get some games on it, it'll tame down a little and I think will be the best replacement overall.

      @Trblmkr07 Год назад +1

      @@LukeRosdahl Thanks Luke, I appreciate the feed back. I'll definitely take a look at the Zen as this seems to be another favorite of bowlers as well. I'll check to see if you have video you mention. Thanks so much for providing me some guidance.

    Quick question! I Just bought the Revenant and I have the pin high over the middle finger, ( I too am a lefty). I got a monster deal on a I Q TOUR Edition. How would drill it and or change surface? I was told both ball are similar. Or are they different??? Thanks

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад +1

      Hey! They really aren't that similar, the revenant is a lot longer and sharper while the iq is pretty early, rolly, and smooth. I'd reset the surface of course but the iq likes living around 3000 on the surface, and because the differential is so low, I wouldn't drill it too weak or it won't flare enough

    How do i treat the surface like you did? Mine is having the same problem if the lane is a little too fresh. By game 2 I can't get the oil off completely and it just gets a "slick" feeling. Just like you stated all of a sudden it starts sliding more down the lane and the end bite just dies.

I need something to ball down after my old Halo Pearl, it's cover is too strong in this situation. So I was considering, Fate, Revenant, Phaze V, or Zen.

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад

      Eh, the cover on the Halo Pearl is actually weaker than the Fate, Revenant, and Zen covers. It's that it's asymmetric is the thing, you'd probably be better off going with something like a Wolverine Dark Moss.

    Revenant vs Night Road??

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад +1

      Yep I'm going to get to that at some point, it's interesting because the core in the Revenant is stronger, but the cover on the Night is stronger, so they have a lot of overlap, but at the same time, they have fairly defined uses too. It's a complicated comparison

  • @chrisrush689
    @chrisrush689 Год назад +1

    Is it similar to the marvel pearl? The revenant has a higher RG. Main reason I ask is because that was my favorite pearl when I was throwing 15 lb. I had to drop to 14 lb due to back problems. Would the weight make a difference too?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад +1

      They do roll somewhat similar but yeah, Revenant is definitely longer and sharper. Also the weight usually makes a big difference in Storm balls because a lot of the RG values go up quite a bit from 15 to 14. This ball specifically is virtually the same though, but like the Phaze 5, the 15 pound RG is 2.48, the 14 pound RG is 2.53, that virtually turns it into a Wolverine.

    • @chrisrush689
      @chrisrush689 Год назад +1

      @LukeRosdahl You mentioned in one of your videos that the RG affects the reaction more than differential changes. What gap in differential would make a big difference then?

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад +1

      10 points or more, like .030 to .035 you really won't even notice, .030 to .040 you would, then again from .040 to .050, but differential just really relates to how much a ball flares, and once it starts to get some ring separation over .030, it's hard to notice a ton. But you WILL absolutely notice the difference between 2.48 and 2.53. I wouldn't want to spend the money or burn the ball on showing the difference, but a 14 vs 15 Phaze 5 should be fairly noticeable. Of course that'd also make the company look bad, or make people question, complain, etc., so definitely not doing that lol. But the difference can be seen from like Phaze 5 to Wolverine Dark Moss, virtually the same situation.

    • @chrisrush689

    • @LukeRosdahl
      @LukeRosdahl  Год назад +1

    • @LukeRosdahl
