      The anti static bags are actually CONDUCTIVE on the outside, you have an extremely high chance of shorting something out if you do an outside test to see if your computer posts before you put it in your case.

      @fxeffects4298 9 лет назад +1

    No. NEVER place your motherboard on the anti static bag. What the bag does is spread out any potential static on the OUTSIDE of the bag, not the inside.

    • @WereCatStudio
      @WereCatStudio 10 лет назад +2

      You can place motherboard on antistatic bag but you MUST NEVER turn it ON! There is no danger as long as you dont run power into your Mobo while is on antistatic bag.

    • @Scrungii

    Guys, you're actually not supposed to set the motherboard on top of the antistatic bag, the inside of the bag is antistatic, but the outside is conductive, most people just set it on the motherboard box.

    There's a reason components are inside the static bag. They are anti-static on the inside only. Good luck putting components on top of them. Use your mobo box. It fits the mobo inside it, it will fit on top of it as well.

    • @TheZerr96
      @TheZerr96 10 лет назад

      No, read the bag next time you build a computer. It says to set the board on the anti static bag. So yes they are anti static on the inside for protection, but also the outside.

      Zach Herr no thats a myth, Carey Holzman, probably the most experienced PC builder on youtube did a mythbusting episode and proved it to be wrong, although it does not provide any antistatic protection there is nothing wrong with building on the bag

    no.

    • @Marki9029
      @Marki9029 10 лет назад

      Does it really matter? Just place the motherboard on something that won't cause static to build up.

    • @MunchMoar
      @MunchMoar 10 лет назад +6

      ***** Plastic actually generates static, only the inside prevents static build up.

    • @Marki9029
      @Marki9029 10 лет назад

      Which is why I said, "Just place the motherboard on something that won't cause static to build up." I didn't say it's fine, I just asked if it really matters. They didn't have problems in their rigs, so why be so anti-antistatic bag?

    • @MunchMoar
      @MunchMoar 10 лет назад

      ***** Do you really know the effects of static on a circuit? It doesn't necessarily destroy your computer, but the effects can reduce the life of the motherboard.
      Thats why we prefer to hold the motherboard by the cpu fan, so we don't mess up the components.

    • @Marki9029
      @Marki9029 10 лет назад

      MunchMoar Does that have anything to do with placing a motherboard on something that doesn't cause electric build up? Let's just end it on the fact that they used the antistatic bag instead of something else and it may or may not reduce the computer life.

    Console Gamer: "HAHA NERDS!!!"
    *what are you laughing at idiot???? These guys built computers that are probably more powerful than the Ps6 soooo you may be laughing at them for being "nerds" but not only do they have much more powerful systems than what you will ever have, but they are also educated about computers which can actually get you somewhere in life instead of just plugging a console into a wall and expecting to be employed for plugging a children's toy into a TV.........*

      Yes building a computer is quite simple. I have actually built my own computer a few times and upgraded several times. It's funny that you would assume that i don't know what I am taking about since you don't know me.
      The question is have you ever built one to compare this to? BTW I know what I'm doing so I don't need to read directions.

    • @The7Master2Gamer

      ***** I actually got a computer this Christmas that I built in about thirty to forty minutes so no I am not full of myself. And yes you are right nobody cares so stop assuming people are dumb fucks and listen to the logic that there isn't much to assemble.
