Build and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job lot of maximum security prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus. As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads the fun can really start.
You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh, and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1 million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best lock-em-up.
Story Mode:
Prison Architect opens with the story of Edward, a man facing the electric chair for committing a crime of passion. This is followed by four additional chapters focusing on different characters and aspects of prison life. From Mafia Dons to power-crazed senators, Prison Architect has them all! Escape Mode:
Finished your supermax? Got guard dogs roving every corridor and prisoners eating out of your hand? Now you can live the horror by firing up escape mode and play as a prisoner hell-bent on getting the hell out of dodge.
Dig a tunnel, go for the armoury or start a riot and slip out in the chaos, it’s entirely up to you! Figure out how to escape from your own creation, or hit the random button and load one of the 12,000 prisons created by the steam community, whichever you choose it’s not going to be easy...

I think since Solitary isn't a part of the cell, the guards won't search it. It might be possible to stash a key in the toilet there before getting caught, then use it on the next try. Most of the guards being busy searching the cell definitely helps. You could also use workers fixing stuff to open the doors for you.
This looks like the kind of prison Lex Luther would be incarcerated in.
It might be possible without the glass walls. Shooting through a wall seems like an unintended glitch.
The only question I can think of: does the game replace deceased guards and staff in escape mode?
In theory you could escape anywhere by just grinding down the staff until there’s no guards left to tackle the running inmate.
Maybe leave one remaining in this case so you can nick his card and keys though!
Normally you have to replace them yourself when in builder mode. In escape mode they are replaced automatically and put back into the same state they were in when the prison was saved and put into that mode. So no you cannot grind down the guards, yes I've tried in one of my prisons. I didn't even think the one I tossed together was that hard to get out of. Turns out, having heavy checkpoints and large sightlines for snipers everywhere along with multiple thick walls and reinforced doors makes for a very hard to escape prison.
the guards get replaced
Guards are replaced, buildings repaired and fire beaten out whenever the prisoner is thrown into punishment. It used to be the case that walls were instabtly rebuilt too
How quickly do they replace dead gaurds?
from my testing its either after you end the fight/surrender or at regular intervals like supply trucks.
All the guards are seemingly hired at the start of the road, where the supply trucks come from.
Which is funny when you're trying to make a break for it after starting a riot and happen to run directly into a swarm at the front gate
Instantly after surrender / end fight.
it was awesome seeing you try to escape from my prision, adding on to a couple things; glass walls work like barred walls, and because there is line of sight guards are able to shoot and taze through it. the best way I have found to escape is to stash things in the solitary cell, then once you have keys and a keycard, break a metal detector, end the fight, and take the keys and keycard to the main hall. from there its just a matter of getting lucky while running out.
I like the concept of a super secure facility, but I agree that it feels like a bit of a cheat.
There is no way the incarceration side of the prison is profitable, so it's a totally unreasonable scenario to be placed in.

If the game doesn't automatically replace deceased guards, this could be escapable if you deplete the guard supply. Especially with the policy of searching the whole cell, every time you misbehave a lot of guards become occupied by the cell search.

Is this design still secure with Superguards and Superdogs turned off or is it reliant on its cheats?
There are still a lot of guards to handle, but it seems to be possible with a lot of luck to handle all the guards since there are only 4-5 armored ones
