  • An amazing day out on the boat catching bass on lures. We started just off Hengistbury Head catching loads of small bass on surface and shallow lures before heading out to some deeper water in search of larger fish on vertical jigs.

    Hi Tom just watched this video again great stuff, just wondering what size and model the boat is as looking at a small boat purchase at some time. Cheers Dave

      Hi Dave. Apologies for late reply, just catching up on a few comments I've missed. This was a Warrior style boat. Something like the Warrior 165 is ideal. Small and agile is worth considering as you're often chasing shoals of fish/birds and will need to react and move quickly.

    Very good video, slow jigging throws up big bass here in Spain,you really need the proper jigging rods with baitcaster multiplers with A fast ratio,Iam only learning it myself ,look forward to your next uploads.tightlines 😎🐟🇪🇸

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  Год назад

      Most of the proper jigging rods are a bit short for our jigging here, they're more suitable for speed jigging.

      @@christchurchanglingcentre5428 yes all the jigging rods are small 6ft some of the usa slow jigging rods are 8ft savage gear goes a 9ft shore that might be useful for you?you really need a jig rod to get the best action,if you need more hang time in the water use thinner braid,jigging is the same methods where ever you use it, for bass I always add
      treble hook better hook up rate.
      Tightlines I look forward to you uploads

    Excellent video - at last a video of someone showing how effective jigging is, it's definitely my favourite way of fishing and I've only just started scatching the surface... well deeper than the surface😂.

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  Год назад +1

      I'm quite new to it too, it shocked me how effective it is! We did 4 or 5 drifts on that same mark with large rubbers, but only one fish, as soon as we switched to the jigs it was almost a fish or two every drift!

    Good video and you both seem to have a good laugh as well. Interesting to see you were using 150g jigs on a 20 to 50g rod, it seem to cope OK but would it be better with a lighter jig or heavier rated rod ? Thanks for sharing

      I think, like all methods, it'll work on its day, but not always. I've been guilty of over complicating it too, a simple lift and drop method was killer on this session.

    Great video, absolutely loved the whole repertoire of lures being used.
    Out of curiosity, what single hooks do you use to replace the trebles with please? Do you notice a change in action on the Mulato or similar sub surface lures as a result of the singles weighing slightly less?

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  Год назад

      To be honest I hadn't used the lures with their trebles enough to notice any difference. Sorry!
      I use the Mustad Kaiju single or the HTO Inline Singles.

    Cracking video, lots of laughs and oodles of bass. Love the surface fishing, absolute blast. Out of curiosity, is it a seasonal thing that they shoal up off the head and then disperse to the rivers and inshore or are they there all year round pls?

    • @christchurchanglingcentre5428
      @christchurchanglingcentre5428  Год назад +1

      Hi Claire, glad you liked the video. The last 3 or 4 years we've had huge shoals of bait fish (sandeel and the likes) appear as soon as the water starts to warm up in spring. The bass follow these in and will stay for as long as the food is there. It's very exciting times to see such a huge quantity of bass inshore and provides some amazing sport.
