What . An . Incredible . Build . Flexiest Truck i have EVER seen . And the Tractor Gearing is exactly what's needed too . Actually the most genuinely impressive Home Build you're likely to see . Anywhere .
I seem to stumble back onto this awesome machine every few years. I am still amazed how awesome it is every time i watch it. I sure hope it ends up in good hands when Bill no longer drives.
This has got to be one of the best builds ever. All the money in the world can't beat a bit of backyard genius and a paddock full of landy's. Great video, great presentation, perfect explanation.
Excellent to see Bill, and excellent to see a video tour of Wildfing. A truly excellent build, all made not bought! :) Thank you for bringing us this video
Somebody has to go do a video "how to build your own portals" with this man!!!!!!......please!!!!! This is too important ,knowledge must benpassed on!!!!!!
Awesome bit of Aussie bush engineering. Bill really understands the engineering concepts, best bit is gear ratio in first gear 'extra low', love it! Well done Bill, and thanks for the video
love the video that old landy is nuts looks like its from Noah's ark the old fella has just redefined the 4x4 industry an corrupted a billion dollar 4x4 design love the rear linkage unreal had to have a zoom up look at its configuration crazy truck need more videos like this great to see the older gen out there doing it we have been forgotten about by the modern world good stuff
4x4fun oz it's just beyond belief the engineering on that landy!😳😳 would give a lot of Tough Truck rigs a run for their money!👌 looks like a nice budget homemade build too!👌
Unreal ! Such an awesome vehicle. Just like the last Land Rover with the winch setup. There's just something about custom built ingenuity. Thanks again for the video. Bill well done for building this machine.
incredible flex. Car does not look, but is an absolute beast in the field. He drives so quietly with him, and so it must be. what a great video excelent.
Such an awesome build, with the bonus of Homemade portal axles. This machine is brilliant and looks amazing. AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV, for future interviews, please try to avoid the constant 'yeps' when interviewing as they end up as loud distractions to the great content you are recording.
What's mad about this, this fellas been around the block a few times not having he's all that internet savy. So all of this insane engineering making portal axels and insane low ratio flex machine is all from his head. Amazing
Thanks so very much for this video Stefan. Don't you just love WildFing? Bill van Snorkle, as he is known, is not just a great mechanic. He is a great engineer and very well known in the Land Rover community across the globe. His knowledge is unbelievable. A long time ago he build his own 6x6 Land Rover and that thing was unstoppable. Should be a video of that beast somewhere on RUclips. I think it was destroyed in a fire. I did find the video. ruclips.net/video/dZuJHchxpvQ/видео.html
Bill has also posted to various message boards (Pirate4X4 and several Oz-based forums, at the least) under the handles Daddylonglegs and Agrover, in addition to Bill van Snorkle. Searching those names will yield a trove of material. He has messed with heretical things like reverse Ackermann steering geometry (outer wheel turns in tighter than the inner wheel), the narrowed springs mentioned in this video, powered small diameter belly wheels to assist in extreme breakover angle situations, and of course the aforementioned 6X6, which had a Perentie beat hollow for off-road capability. I bought a copy of "New Directions in Suspension Design" by Collin Campbell on his recommendation in a forum post I ran across. Most anything Bill ever posted was pure gold. Though I am far from expert, Bill knows more about maximizing the off-road capability of a leaf sprung vehicle than anyone else I have ever run across. Who else sets up a leaf sprung vehicle with links, so that the springs are only being springs and aren't called upon to locate the axles? Bill has done more with less when it comes to Landys than anyone else I can think of. I recall him recounting in a forum post the he was too "skint" to afford proper RTV sealant when he built the portals, so he used tub caulk. Must've worked! I have some still photos of this rig "crossed up" which I saved out from some forum post or other, with his wife waving from the passenger seat. Sadly, as I understand it, she is no longer with us. This is the first time I have seen the truck in action, or have heard Bill actually speaking in his own voice. Seeing his truck traverse with aplomb terrain that would make for a rough hiking track is amazing. This made my day!
More footage of Bill's Property: ruclips.net/video/1yFQClDjmZ8/видео.html All the shots with the cars in gullys, the other shots are from other locations.
Wow I’m absolutely blown away by how well this rig flexes for a home built rig!! this guy has a very intelligent engineering brain!!
What a sleeper, not even comp trucks flex that hard, and the portals being built by himself is such a badass
More knowledge dropped in 16minutes than the last 16 years of 4x4 shows on TV
That gentleman is a true genies. Was a pleasure hearing him explain things and seeing the enjoyment on his face.
Quite possibly the coolest rig I've ever seen. So much cool knowledge dropped into each and every modification.
I've been in this 2a and fell in love with it

It is great to see someone building their own creations without buying everything off the shelf, good on you old mate!
Bill is a genius in regards to vehicle builds
Brilliant engineer
what a monster - slowly but surely conquering everything
Very intelligent man. I also like the 6x6 with live beam Axel's under it. Go anywhere .
Thank you ,the gentleman you interviewed is an example of a backyard

I absolutely love it,wildfing
What a champ, great story, thanks for sharing.
Incredible, this is monster…woww!
What an amazing rig. The product of decades of small improvements.

I just have to leave this here: Awesome guy, awesome build. Pure knowledge and ingenuity.
yes Bill is a genius
That was brilliant!
What a nice guy!
Fantastic offroad
That is just awesome, there is alot of ingenuity put into this vehicle.
Aaaaaamaaazing! The greatest 4x4 content on the internet so far! Function>form..we need more rigs like these than shiny expensive rigs..
Wow --- a car made by a Space alien--- Incredible......
Old school "🔛🔝. Tough ...Masterpiece series 2' amazing 🆒👍.
Can we get more videos of this guy and his rover this thing is absolutely amazing and I wanna see him go on a trip with you guys for sure 👍🏻👍🏻🤩🤩🤩🤩
Yes that would be great but Wildfing is no longer registered so I don’t think we will see it outside of Bills property
No worries but incredible design he’s got going there
best looking Rover ever ,so jealous!
i dont have words best 4x4 landy in the world ever ever wow "cant beat them join them"
The world would be such a bloody boring place if we didn't have people like Bill.......
A top working flex suspension on a budget, anazing build!
Just came a crossed this video and I’m stoned !
Wow that vehicle is amazing in all aspect. My favorite part of this car is its rouged look !!
Yes it’s a crazy 4wd
@@AlloffroadAu It's steam punk
High marks!
he made his own portals, badass
@ 1:39 Didn't know Freddie Krueger was into Off-Roading, plus he's just built a tank out of Land Rover parts👍😁

thanks for the tip mate, still learning....
cheers for the clip, with a bit of know how, he has crushed so many big $ 4x4's. leaf spring's rule off road! eh john,.... adrian hilux
love this rig! what a weapon
Land rover 👍
This is brilliant on leaf springs .
Coil front leaf rear .
Portal axles nice
Bill is much softer in the flesh. He's a bit prickly on the forums.
He's a genius.
El puto amo!! 💪🏽
Very Impressive ..
Im not at all into rovers, but this thing is sick AF.
insane
Thank you for

yes Bill is a very unique guy with great skills
Flex aside, that 270:1 final crawl ratio is something else…
All wheels are always touching the ground, I bet no other 4wd is able to go up that track, this thing makes it's own road....
I cannot believe this was 6 yers ago. I watched it then
yes time flies
ahh bill we know you from the landy and other forums... so thats how you look like!!
Que eje portico monta? Un saludo. Muy buen video¡!!!
es un monstruo !!!!!!!!!
This reminds of the LUAZ 960 with its portal hubs
Never seen anything like this before.
You did not cover the steering conversion. I assume power assist with rangie box? What pump used and fitted to stock motor?
9:23 - the box seems to be Toyoda/Toyota.
Toyota 60 series box and pump.
Amazing.....!
Clever bloke
It's very cool
Epic
What a nice bloke

I absolutely love Wildfing, and Bill is such nice bloke I wish I had 20% of his knowledge. I saw his 6x6 Landrover on YT what a beast that was...

It's a spider
This is the best 4*4 why spend a hundred thousand to outfit an aftermarket suspension system when it's not as effective as this
The song kinda soiled like lose yourself (Eminem)
Rat Rover lol
Yes that is a crazy build driving in it and experience that flex and under drive is awesome
Is there a video of his paddock of land rovers?
don't think I shot that we had quite miserable weather
@@AlloffroadAu shame
If FREDDY KRUEGER built a Mad Max car....
All these youngsters making ruts running 35 and 37 inch tyres, all they needed to do was build their own portals.... and be a suspension guru!
Land Rovers never had portal axles. So this would be a LR/UniMog cross?
he build the Portals himself no Unimog Portals
@@AlloffroadAu That is impressive.
