What's that? You did the Rubicon trail in your $100k Jeep on 40's on a nice summer weekend and it was a challenge? Yeah, I did it in a 28 year old un-modified Discovery 1 on 31 inch tires with 4 girls in the back under 6 and FREAKING BABY UP FRONT with no wife....in the rain. That guys story tops them all. Just shy of having been to the moon.
Typical, 40's mentality, All the gear And absolutely no Idea how to drive . No wonder colwns like that tip there jeeps over, you tube is full of them, that require a rescue.I have a rover in the UK, 35's locked diffs, with a low C.O.Gravity, although saying that, I can't fit several kids and a baby in mine. My overnight gear goes in the passenger footwell, I still get rained on in Wales, trying to put a tent up in a strong wind. Top content mate, love it 👍
i did it a few years ago in a disco 1 no lockers 30 inch tires . all the jeep owners laughed . after finishing with no repairs needed drove it to alaska and back to colorado only losing low range on the last day
British weather for British cars. Shows commitment 😄. Nice to see people using driving skills and not cheque books to complete the Rubicon. #Max33Tyres
Great video, natural presentation, I really enjoyed it! The spotter wearing the shorts drove me crazy, too much talk and indecision. Other then that great trip for a bunch of Landys! I drive a 1968 Series IIa, 2004 Range Rover and a 2012 LR4 on 18 inch steel wheels with BF Goodrich 275-75R KO2 and 2.5 inch Proud Rhino lift rods.
The Rubicon in 32s is insane and Jesse is an absolute legend for taking 5 kids solo! If this was a few weeks ago (3?), some of your convoy was at the lake when we first drove in with a few wranglers/gladiators. Y'all caught up to us at the Springs the last night/we were the group across from you. I had a fan girl moment seeing the rovers rolling in. Glad you all had a good time and everyone made it out under their own power!
Much more of a challenge with pretty standard vehicles, anyone can spend thousands on all the big wheels, lockers, portal axles etc, much more fun doing it the hard way. Just watch old Camel Trophy footage to see how good Land Rovers are🤷♂️
I have seen so many times videos from the rubicon trail, but i think is the first LR convoy I have seen. It looks like an adventure of a Life time. Would you consider being our guide? Our group also has some Discos and Defenders and we would be willing to ship our vehicles to the states to try something like that.
I’ve only done the Rubicon ones, so I wouldn’t consider myself qualified to lead a group of Rovers on the rubicon Trail however, if you would like, I can put you in touch with Rover people that have done and lead the trail many times. Alternatively, there is an event that happens yearly for, and by Land Rover owners on the Rubicon Trail. rovicon.org/
Great to see something other than a Jeep on the trail. If you’re using a phone selfie camera for your personal shots turn off mirroring in the settings so things aren’t back to front.
The series rig is running non-Rover, I believe 1 ton axles, and a non-Rover engine, possibly a Ford. Lockers, front and rear. It did amazing on the trail and its small size gave it the ability to squeeze into places and lines the more “modern” Rovers could not. It helps that the driver has done the rubicon trail with that vehicle many times.

I recently met Jessie at last years oregon trophy challenge. Great guy and team of friends! You are in good hand there Ran. Hopefully we catch up on a casual run someday. Thanks for sharing!
@@pinkskud1 yeah I think so, as far as I know the early defenders had 23 spline and the discos had 24 spline, but there are other variations as well, military etc.
Before the trip, we organized a shared spreadsheet that contained everyone’s vehicle and the spare parts and tools they’re bringing. That made sure we had enough spares, but no one had to carry everything.
@@AdventurewithRover sure... sort of. One man's impressive is another man's stuck behind a bunch of unlocked, no ground clearance, daily drivers trying every rock combination 3-10 times, and turning a 2 hour track into all day. Hope y'all had fun.
Because the metal on the front part of the differential is very thin and easily punctured, and or bent and needs extra protection against contact with the rocks.
I am English and would never have a Landy or Disco etc. I always go Japanese and have an old Toyota Hilux.. I want something reliable and not junk... I dont want to have breakdowns etc all the time... need a group of other people in the group trying to help me sort out my broken down Brit vehicle... I am not too long back from Ukraine where i drove from England.. Landys and Discos etc could not cope with the conditions..... I am going back this winter and would rather walk there and back then go with one of those I cant see any appeal in having something inferior and unreliable.... i would want the safest etc.
OMG Guys! You are all simply incredible! A real inspiration for every Rover owner! Thanks a lot for sharing this!
Thanks so much!
Being an owner of 2 Disco 1 V8s and a Disco 2 Td5, this makes my heart pump with pride. Well done and thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best part of this video is at 19:33. What a crew!

Well done you 🎉
He's a hero. The thought of attempting to take my 2 and 5 year old children to the supermarket without my wife to help fills me with terror!
Absolute legends. Well done!
Thanks 🤗
Open diffs and 31's on the one guy. Good video.
Thanks 👍

The fact that you had 31in tires and no lockers is crazy. Lots of patience was found during this video.
Awesome trip for sure I'm still in awe of what we put our rigs through.
You and me both!
That was awesome.
Thanks

Thanks for watching. Yep it was Us you ran into three weekends ago.
What a genial trail you have there. Respekt 👍
Thanks 👍

Looks like an epic adventure. 🤘🏼

Looks like an awesome trai, one of these days I'll hit it.
Awesome trip! :)

Fantastic trip and video, I really enjoyed watching it. 👍

Thanks for the tip. I turned it off.
I saw (I believe) a series 3? Really curious to know how it did on the trails. If you can please share some stories? Thanks

I mean, I’ve run The ‘Con and I’m impressed you got those jalopies through. Honestly though, the balls of steel award goes to the guys on dirt bikes.

Hope you brought a big trailer full of half shafts and track rods😉
Didn't the discos get more splines than the old defenders??

No vehicle on earth can withstand rocks, rocks kill vehicle reducing to a mere shell
Imran during how many D2 rotoflex couplers became Loose by the time they got back on the street
No rotoflex were damaged during the trail or on the way home. However, we did need to replace one U joint on a rear driveline (D1).
There were no survivors.
😀
Jeep : We made a car to be good on the Rubicon (*expensive mods may be needed)
Land Rover : we made our cars to be good everywhere.
100% agree
4wd without lockers is 2wd, the two wheels with the least traction.
You are correct, which makes it more impressive that the non-locked trucks made it through the trail relatively unscathed.

Your doing it all wrong. First you need 74weld portal axles for the clearance and wheels. The stock suspension is perfect. Unbelievable
Portals would sure be nice. Want to buy me some 😜
Can I ask why you are welding that shit hat to that diff?
Because the metal on the front part of the differential is very thin and easily punctured, and or bent and needs extra protection against contact with the rocks.

Land Rover proudly turning owners into mechanics since 1947 😜
Great vid but the background music is very annoying. 🙉😅Cheers. 👍🏻🙏🦘
Thanks. I really struggle with editing the sound levels and choosing music. It’s all filmed and edited on my phone.
@@AdventurewithRover
I understand. Is music a RUclips requirement?
Anyway, thanks for your efforts. 👍🏻🙏🦘
