These wood kits look so neat to put together I just don't think I could do all the woodwork I did a stock for gunsmithing and wood is just not my thing. I love lifecolor paints i used ammo acrylic thinner for it works like a charm used there colors for the yamato and the yorktown
Hi Ben, Greetings from the UK. Currently working my way through the Duchess series, (haven't got to this one yet) and really enjoying it. I've not ever built a wooden ship/boat but have today ordered Vanguard Models HM Sherbourne to have ago. Built plenty of Balsa RC planes back in the 1990s so hopefully that will help a bit. Also been a plastic modeller since my early teens (i'm 62 now) so plenty of model building experience including model engineering. I have a question not related to this build though. Can I ask where you got the fantastic wall art of the HE162 Salamander from. I would love one like it in my man cave. All the best , Mark
Thanks Mark!!! I found that at a store we have in the states called “Hobby Lobby”. I guess you’d have to do a pretty serious internet search to track one down. It was chance that I found that one. Glad you’re enjoying the series and I hope you really enjoy the Sherbourne!
Use a sprue cutter to cut the supports close to the deck. Then follow up with an exacto knife and sand paper.
Ben, looking fantastic!!! This seems like an awesome kit.
