The beads are Chinese glass beads, they manufactured like this from the start ,i'm not sure how they are making them but they are so cheap so it's very convenient to ship manufacturing use them for lower production costs.
One small tip when weaving "mice"... have an odd number of threads. you had 8 threads, meaning that the "over under" pattern didn't automatically alternate.
Yes! I figured that out and mentioned it towards the end of the video. I 3-D printed some for the next two. I’m hoping it will make the process go smoother.
@@TheMidwestModelShop Well that'll teach me to wait until the end before commenting :) Glad you worked it out anyway. Another tip when rigging thread through blocks/ holes, put thin CA on the end of the thread to stiffen it so it acts like a needle.
Right on Ben! Looking fantastic! I got my first 4 planks on my SJ. I got the DOK too. Going to start that after I get the first planking done on the SJ. Helps with the organization of what tools I am using. Have you seen that Harry Houdini rigging kit? They don't make a 1/64th scale but I shot him an email on that. Maybe you could make these and market them??? And have fun on your vacation! Hopefully not in the sunshine state!
Ben, You're doing an incredible job. Thanks for this series. I am getting anxious to start my own wooden ship build.
Looking pretty cool! Have a great vacation.

I wonder if these ships where a little overengineered.?
you know craft stores have some very tiny beads that might work better to scale
