Thanks for this video. I bought a cobra 29 ltd classic on Ebay it has all these mods but they were not advertised on the ebay listing. I did not know what the Ch9 / Normal was until I just watched this. I have heard that sound while talking to others and did not know what it was on their radio.

im still looking for the key up crunch sound. back in the early ninties guys on base stations in my area would never exactly reveal what it was but would say it had something to do with the d104 silver eagle type microphones.

On a good skip day, it sounds like what a bunch of UFO’s landing on my roof would sound like through my 6k receive and cabinet 15 speaker. The house vibrates when the starships land 🤣

Do you do repairs too? My cobra 29 has a loose part in it and the audio quality on rx sounds like poo 💩 like a ringing noise hard to explain. I could replace it but had that radio since high school and now creeping into my mid 20s so I really like it
wow... and I thought that in 55 years of CB that I had seen every idiotic "mod".... "noise toys" being the worst along with echo.... but this wins the grand prize! making a stable pll controlled radio act like a 1960s poorly designed radio.
Hi ya Fred I’m very frustrated because I’ve twiddled a knob or pressed a button I don’t know what. But I’ve got 2 frequencies in the memory but only one of them I’m getting m-01-01 next to the frequency where the vfo A should be. I just don’t know what I’ve done? Any ideas.
Lol all these haters cant run with the big boys on channel 6 superbowl so the call it dumb🤣😂 I guess they been getting keyed on with the vfo winding up on them! Lol, to funny, love how it comes in before the real power hits the frequency 👌 I got it on my chrome 29, use it in key down battles! They know when I key up
@@minibikemadman to be fair he probably won't just do a wind-up because he and I have spoken and he just doesn't feel right charging someone to only do a wind-up. There are many techs out there that charge what I consider steep prices for what's a relatively easy mod. If a radio is sent in to be tuned, the wind-up is added free of charge, but he generally doesn't just do the wind-up alone.

Roster, don't bother trying to write a book called "CB Mods for dummies" most of these dummies can't read! Hahahaha You are gonna have people playing with their clarifier while keying up. For the new Jack's it's good cuz if they got one hand on the ptt and the other hand on their clarifier then they won't be able to play with themselves while on the radio. Gonna save themselves from buying glasses. Hahaha.

It's an added electrolytic capacitor and a resistor across the vfo chip. About .2 to .2 and half cents worth of parts. I love it though.
