Thanks so much for collaborating with us on this project! We can't wait to get to Virginia and try some of these out. That Virginia Highland Whiskey sounds fabulous. We're really enjoying American Single Malts right now, and they seem to be making some exciting whiskeys. Cheers!
I love the Bowman SB. I think it’s so much better than most of the hard to get Buffalo Trace products and at a higher proof point. I definitely prefer it to Blanton’s, plus it’s cheaper and easier to find in my area (northern Virginia).
@@SaltyCuban It’s probably a 2 - 3 hour drive from VA Beach, depending on traffic. It’s also very likely that you’ll be able to find Bowman SB in VA Beach. Have fun in VA!!!!!
If you haven't had KO Distilling in Manassas VA, you're missing out. Their Distiller's Reserve Bottled in Bond is my current favorite bourbon. I highly recommend checking them out.
Just picked up some of these so a little late commenting. I agree with Jaime, the Ragged Branch had a very odd flavor, the aftertaste was almost minty. After swallowing the taste the flavor was immediately gone, no linger at all. Now the JJ Bowman was very good but I didn’t realize it’s distilled at Buffalo Trace and shipped to F’burg.
I love hearing about Ragged Branch in videos like this. They’re what got me into bourbon. I agree that their Rye is a standout from them. Cheers from C-Ville!
Catoctin Creek Rabble Rouser should be on this list as well!! Awesome Rye. They are coming out with a Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye Cask Proof Hickory Finish whisky in April. Looking forward to it. Can get on Monday the 25th of April on their website starting at 8am.
Underrated?? It’s the most overused comment on YT. Virginia is fully rated. Virginians love it. Non-Virginians know about it. There isn’t a state in this Union that’s “underrated,” whatever that means. Usually it means the commenter sees themself as specially aware and specially gifted. Well, no. Virginia is RATED. ANd don’t speed in Lexington or my son the State Trooper will have a conversation with you about making self-aggrandizing comments on YT. And my hometown distillery, A. Smith Bowman is also RATED. It has the best following among bourbon aficionados inside and outside Virginia. It’s an open secret that they use Buffalo Trace distillate (Eagle Rare mashbill) and that it’s tastier than ER. Awesome distillery tour. Bowman is RATED. Their special releases are highly RATED. Stop with the parroted, hackneyed, platitudinous, vapid, clichéd comments already!
@@davids2206 Peace, my Virginia brother! 😎 And he only sets his radar or laser to 95 and a JMU or W&L kid will trip it every 30 minutes. So chilling 81, my Virginia brother. FWIW, State Troopers in Virginia are RATED, just generally under-appreciated…😀
Love your reviews. Bowman's is my absolute favorite especially the 100 proof. I live in Fredericksburg so I swing down there frequently. Jealous of the gingerbread. Cheers!
Ironclad has to be on their list! You can’t get my favorite in stores, but their AR Hot Honey and their Old Kernel are my go to favorites bourbons. The Old Kernel is made from old heirloom Indian maze.
Thanks for sharing! Always nice to hear about the craft distilleries in other states. Glad the Bourbon Van reached out to you. You are both two of my favorite bourbon channels! I’ve always heard good things about Catoctin Creek Distillery in Virginia. Was wondering if you have tried any of their bottles?
I was at at a tasting for the Virginia Distilling Co. I was able to try 6 of their products. i thought they were all very good. A. Smith Bowman Distillery is great. John J. Bowman is great bourbon. I recently got a bottle of rye from KO distilling from Virginia. it is one of the best ryes i have had. What do you think of that Virginia Distillery?
I also love Ragged Branch. Their Double Oaked Signature Bourbon and Double Oaked Wheated Bourbon are my two favorites. Looking forward to visiting them in the future. Thanks for all your entertaining videos!
OMG I can’t believe you didn’t include the Ragged Branch Barrel Proof! You get a tremendous value for your Buck! You have got to get a bottle. It’s distillery only but it’s amazing! I get toasted coconut as a prominent note. I have maybe 2-3 shots left before seeking a replacement bottle. I’ll drive you other there to get a bottle haha and some beef!!! Spent bourbon grain feed beef! Tasty 🤤
Love this! Reservoir’s cask-finished stuff is pretty solid, as is their BiB bourbon. VA Distillery is CRUSHING it with their American Single Malts, and I’ve heard that Ragged Branch’s best offerings are their double-oaked whiskies
Ragged Branch has had some tasty barrel proof bottles, including a 4 grain that I really like. Also, the view from the tasting room is absolutely beautiful, totally worth visiting! Cheers from Lynchburg!
No disrespect, but You should have her in more videos. You'd definitely get more views. Cause she is " Beautiful " and just seems like a real Sweet Heart.
Love Ragged Branch. Their first master distiller was the legendary late Dave Pickerell…so their stuff is top notch. I’m surprised Tarnished Truth Distillery down in Va Beach didn’t make your list. Their Old Cavalier bourbon (11-year single barrel) is simply amazing.
Great video. Would be interesting to see a part 2. Heard fantastic things about the filibuster Single estate single barrel bourbon. And I personally love copper fox, though there is a distinctive house flavor in all their whiskeys.
Love bowman’s single barrel. Really want to try the gingerbread so bad
Thank you for this video. I have been so pressed to find goos whiskeys in the Manassas.

Thank you for inviting us and congrats on a great idea and engagement!!!
Iron Clad brewery in Newport News is a VA bourbon whiskey worthy of review…
Heyyyyy Bristol native here!!
The Double Oaked Wheat from Ragged Branch is great!
I love the Bowman SB. I think it’s so much better than most of the hard to get Buffalo Trace products and at a higher proof point. I definitely prefer it to Blanton’s, plus it’s cheaper and easier to find in my area (northern Virginia).
How far is the Bowman distillery from Virginia Beach? I’ll be visiting friends there later this month.

I have almost all offering from ragged branch. They have not disappointed me yet. The bonus is it is farm to glass.
You can subscribe to Jaime’s channel at ruclips.net/user/BeyondtheRow1 @beyondtherow1
The ragged branch wheated bottled in bond is great!!
I wish I was closer to Virginia now. These sound so good. I love your channel and the Bourbon Van's channel. Keep up the great work.
Virginia is a solid state (I live in MD) and VA has some good wines too,.. hmmm,.. maybe I should move.
Lovingston
I love Ragged Branch! Available at Publix in Florida, I always recommend to others.
Love John J Bowman. One day I would love to visit the distillery!!!
This is perfect! I am doing a weekend trip to Fredericksburg for golf and hit some distilleries!

Their single barrel cask strength is a must try.
Catoctin Creek should be on this list for sure

I love that you're representing virginia with all these great whiskeys. Ragged Branch is awesome!
Don’t like beer either so may pass on that milkman one.

Off topic how does wild turkey rare breed rye taste I haven’t tried any rye bourbon yet but a fan of rare breed
Wooo
Have you tried Catoctin Creek?
Unrelated but does anyone know if 169.00 is a fair price for orphan barrel fable and folly 14 year? Thanks for any help.

Reservoir good but overpriced. Forgot to mention that small bottle is around 50 bucks.

Not a bunch of, but a Murlarkey of tea/whiskey; subscribe! (& a big fan of the Isaac B).
