Good video. How do you cut them off if they are sitting on the ground? Slide a saw blade under the pot? I’ve bought the plastic balls from amazon but I think I prefer the sandwich bags to do air layers.
@@firstname7769 im a plastic bag specialist too but I prefer doing them this way set it and forget it and then it is a potted tree but obviously it is work in all situations
@@MilesFig this method is good when you AL close to ground level but not good when you want to AL high up on a branch due to the weight. I actually broke from one of my most treasured varieties 👼 because the AL sandwich bag was too heavy and a storm kind of moved my bamboo support (it was green growth so not the strongest).
Best ever air layer. This always has 100% success. For me anyway. I do like to lift the pot up a bit to make it easier to cut off.

@@MilesFig nothing else I just add enough soil underneath the pot that I can easily push the soil aside to get to the section of branch to cut.

Plastic balls and sandwich bags are all good. And yes I slide a saw under it and cut it off it's easy.
The balls are hard to put with soil tight against the branch and it feels like they dry up faster. I prefer the sandwich bags too.

@@firstname7769 in that case you take that broken branch inside and put in a class of water and do the in water air layer
