      Set it next to a Casio SK-1, and activate the SK-1’s sample feature.
      Kidding.

    Instantly reminded of the stylaphone, from the over all look of it, the form factor I suppose and sounds pretty similar to, I really love the very noise vocals, works well. Was thinking a virtual instrument playing sounds entirely from the mechanical keys squeaking would be interesting

    In regards to the question of "what makes a synthesizer": I think it's the ability to design your own sounds.

      Well, organs usually have some timbre control, especially electric organs like the hammond are basically additive synthesizers with the drawbars allowing you to play around with the harmonics. Very few organs have envelope controls though, they tend to just be on when the key is pressed and off when you let go of the key, though that's not quite true for 100% of them either, as some electric organs have a short decay envelope for upper partials creating the percussive organ sound, and some have release controls.

  • @turhiki
    @turhiki Год назад +10

    That's a nice little synth. If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe it's all the failing components that give it's sound its cool quirkyness.

  • @BradJennings1

    Good stuff magpie. You should look at making an IR of that speaker then attempting DI through your IR. Might be interesting to have some IRs of your older synths/etc as well.

    That's a Stylophone innards with a "proper" keyboard. Even the board layout is the same by the look of it.

    If you really want to capture sound without the key squeak, you could relocate the speaker somewhere externally.

    • @bigbasil1908
      @bigbasil1908 Год назад

      @@SimonTheMagpie Ah maybe its that. I have a cheap chinese components tester and it shows the voltage of the 9v battery, and after testing a few times the voltage drops quite a bit. Hopefully a power supply will work or at least help a bit. But the problem could just be bad electrolytic capacitors. It seems quite a cool toy/keyboard.
