Playing 45's at 33rpm and without the spindle adapter thing is very magpie
A spider?
Of centre hole playing is always cool, drill your own records great fun
Doppler Records
Aaaah
So cute, lovely find!
It reminds me a lot of the main sound in "Kids" by MGMT. It's really pleasant
Dude I was gonna comment that
i thought this as well
yeeaaa
Never ever imagined you scratching/sampling on a vintage 🇫🇷 Françoise Hardy EP from Vogue records (a.k.a. "Surprise me Benoît / Walk on your hands")🙂😁
franzwaah
Your vids are always like a quick acid trip :-) The record playing off centre reminded me of an Elton John record I had as a kid, with an off centre hole ;-)
In that case I’ll subscribe i guess
;-)
Such a happy yet chill sound, I love it. Reminds me of an older game sound.
what do they call it
"Since"??
I suspect the two pots near the motor are actually fine speed controls for both 33 and 45 RPM modes. At least back in the day a lot of record player had those.
I was so hoping the keyboard would be speed control for the turntable. That's an idea I've had for ages but never seen anything like it. Still a very cool video as always though, love the sort of dirty loops with the record just skipping, locked groove by accident.
Reloop RP 8000 MK2
yah
Same like a vinyl mellotron
Big fun! Thanks man. 💜
I used to live near a record shop that had "blind boxes" for like... $4? I always thought it would be fun to grab a bunch, sample 'em, and see what I could make. Sadly I have none of the equipment, but this is an infinitely cooler way of doing it. 😹
yesterday I found Louie Zongs "goodwill beats" where he does that with second hand vinyls he finds its sweet
you can run a thumbtack along the grooves and just hold your Webcam up to it then you Skype your engineer and they can record the audio
HEY MAGPIE! That little organ sound is truly amazing. Try swopping the pitch trimpot out for one with a larger value! It will be able to go from sub-sonic to super squeeky. It will be even greater :)
Absolutely great!
Didn’t know Sonapanic ..wait, Son of panic? Ah, Panasonic! ..made keyboards.
Born in 75, had this as a kid, iirc it had a red plastic cover. Never once reminded having this before today. Kinda creepy feeling.
Still have mine from childhood.
This is freaking awesaome.
rock and roll
Columbia po 8r turntable organ looks even cooler. great vid as always. great inspiration.
I'm really sick and I can hear my heart beating in my ear because of a headache. But it was on tempo which made me happy. Even though its painful
I know who you are and where you live #staywoke
@@dodgevillehoedown oh you found my comment 👍
I actually found that fan organ you made a video on at an antique store in Southern Germany, I wish I could travel back in time and get it just for the joke
Love the song at the end, you are right that it has a really nice sound to it!
You gotta play Jerk it out by the ceasers on it.
If he not i snap
omg this sounds just like the bee&puppycat soundtrack 0_0
this thing is amazing
Such a cool sound!
I Love You, Man!! You are awesome. Your creative processes on these old instruments is absolutely a thing of beauty. Where do you find them, anyway? Keep these videos going!! See ya on the next one.
“I’m going to stop wasting film now”
Since when did he start shooting these on tape?
You drilled the hole when the case was OVER THE CIRCUIT BOARD!!!!!!!
“If i got a money for every time I have solved a problem with just drilling a hole, I would not have any money because I would have lost all that money down those holes”
Incredible!
I love the way you put the record on without the clip for the warping playback.
That was cool as hell. Super funky grooves
The warbly big band music is giving me everywhere at the end of time PTSD flashbacks
I never knew off-center records sound so cool!
You got me dude, it's great again 👏😁👏😁👏😁👏😁👍
Yes...! the needle on the sounds awesome
You are a really lucky man to have access to that kind of gear
03:31 - I'm easily pleased and this tickled my fancy with the jaunty music and dancing.
Play some Doors on it and get some wicked organ riffs on the go! 😂
what is the song?
Dude i love you, wherever you doing is touch my soul on 1000%. I like watch ur videos and see what shit u make, and every-time is faking amazing. Thx u 4 doing stuff, make videos and create new and new stuff. U inspired me so much, wait for new cool things by your creative head. U fanny and ur music just make me moves.
Thx u.
My brother had one of these when we were kids. It had a cover that went over the phonograph.
3:51 "avaler des pommes de pins" loool
litterally "swallowing pine cones"
I have wanted one of those for along time would love to circuitbend it.
I feel the exact same way about drilling holes.
Very cool.
Oh wow, I had this same record player when I was a kid in the early 80s!
Turns out all this unit needed was a few decent effects, very nice sounds!
2:52 Who else started imagining "Everywhere at the End of Time"?
Damn I was just looking for one of these. Where did you find one?
You are making Florian from the ‘Bad Gear’ channel salivate and covet. One can scratch and play a keyboard tinkle at the same time. All it needs is MIDI output!
Hej Skatan! Weird gear question; what was that handheld vacuum cleaner you used? I recently realised I need one and want one that doesn't suck (or I want it to suck... you know what I mean). Cheers!
you really make me laugh you have positive energy
I'd love to see you make a Laurie Anderson style tape violin, especially since Tuesday was the 40th anniversary of Big Science.
je he,,, buen trabajo, hombre...
i love your content
I was really hoping the keys sped and slowed the record to change pitch.
Same haha, someone needs to bend one like that
Genius ❤️
you should totally add a pitch wheel to this.
is it possible that there is a second tuning pot? you might have found the "fine" tune. maybe there's a "course" tune pot as well?
That is mental! Haha! Keep up the good wörk!
your videos bring out my inner kid 👍
You make my life better
Instant Rave/ Techno lead sound - add it over the top of a hardcore rhythm banger and you have instant Prodigy! Or just keep it chiptune Casio style as in that lovely track you played @8.50. Either way, what a lovely sound that odd Panasonic has!
dope!
Love this vid and contraption. I saw a similar green one more of a keyboard than an organ, but it couldn’t play along to the record so I didn’t get it.
🙌🏼
I found it on an auction site here in Japan as a National Do Re Mi SO-123N. I also found a cassette version! So now you have to get one of those.
Any chance you'd be willing to sell the cassette version?
What was that french song u started sampling, songs like a banger
It is, it is a very nice sound.
Like deployed 👍
That track was fire
CATBOY SIMON
seeing it i was kinda hoping the keys controlled the speed of the record player like that one vestax turntable that accepted midi notes
i spat soda when the warbly french record started playing. is that first track vaporwave? i'm going to tell my kids it is.
It's an effect, of not using a 45 spacer (plastic appliance), to center the record.
And the lyrics are.... "quite interesting".
Anyone know the name of that track
@@zzz-nu2re Sure ! Françoise Hardy - Etonnez moi, Benoit - 1968
@@horssujet21 ur a saint
That beat at 4:15 is crazy
I have the AM radio + organ version
the sound of toy instruments are really spooky and haunting.
Very nice sound, very nice video!
A great little instrument!
How is the first Magpie video to feature vinyl?
What record is blue that? Sounds like Brigitte Bardot or Jane Berkin.
fun video
Pitch Screw should be the name of the band that plays this music
07:49 #realTalk 💸💸
Sounds amazing as-well. But having accessible speed or pitch control would've really made this thing bearable and fun in the 70s.
Surprised how good this thingy sounds. I think that the 'C' sounds like an F because the keybord doesn't start on C, but on G and is detuned down to F
Add a pitch slider for the phono motor speed.
3:31
I'm surprised you didn't add a speed controller to the deck! Plus, those pot's could be moved to the outside to give a bit of weirdness on the fly.
Love the sound it kicks out, and I still wonder what the coloured keys do as well ;-)
I think the coloured keys are just too show where the c is.
Its also fun to cut up records and glue them back together. There used to be a record store near me that sold 10 and 25 cent records. Its fun to mix/remix trash culture with no idea how it will come out.
it reminds me of a electric Melodica
magpie
Simon the Manudigital
Could you create a guitar with a pickup in the first fret so that you could hear 2 different notes at sale time? Could be completely useless but that again why not 😜. Love you Magpie!
I wonder why you haven’t used AC power cable. Does it introduce noise or you just didn’t had a free outlet nearby 🙂?
Sounds really nice and warm though. Cool video, as usual.
I guess probably it is the voltage problem. Sweden has 230V, but if this is sold in Japan or US, then it is designed for 100V/120V.
@@bojugai9174 now that I've checked what plug it has i think you're right
Why does this not surprise me ?
00:48 … been there … 😆📖💸
It comes with a mains power plug, why not use that instead of taping batteries on with duct tape? Maybe tap in a jack so you can use a wall wart?
We use 220v in Sweden. It looks like that one is for a 110v system.
Anyone know the name of the French track sampled?
I can see, it was on the "Vogue" label.
The Song is étonnez moi Benoît by Françoise Hardy
I thought it’d be a mellotron type thing
Now one use only black buttins.
Kind of disappointing that the keyboard doesn't modulate the sound from the record like I thought it would. Probably too much to expect from a kid's toy.
That is a dub master table
You could play some roots 45s
Regee
Regerray
Just slap a split on the speaker wires to headphones and maybe get it down on output via magic means and there you go. I had to do it as a kid to work on some things so yea sup.
was wondering why you didnt just plug it in... but then i remembered we dont all have the same plugs in each country...
