I just bought a new 150 xc w and I absolutely love this KTM. I used to buy SX but I'm 60, battled and beat throat and lung cancer and now I'm a woods trail guy. I also have a 23 gasgas txt 300 trials bike that iputt around on. Both awesome bikes. Both helped me to fight and defeat cancer. I want to stick around and enjoy these bikes
That thing is super clean!!👌I really want to build a Ktm 125/150 but not a new one because I personally like kickstart vs e start! But we will see what happens, because I’m getting a 125 next most likely!😎👍
Get the upgrade, and keep the 140 if you can. I got my kx250 2 stroke, but sometimes I just wanna vibe on the ttr230. Gives you the best of both worlds.
@@DerekHallman yesterday my choke was stuck in so it wouldn’t start at all, all it was was the choke wire stuck in and then it started first try. So yeah they are a really low maintenance bike. Thank you
I had a '09 150SX and had similar thoughts on it. The power was crisp when it was running smooth. Very temperature sensitive. And when it decided to cause problems, it caused problems. I didn't realize how soft the suspension was on it until I was riding a KX450F of the same year. The bike was fun to ride, very nimble. Just had to stay on top of it to really enjoy it. When it spends majority of the year having work done, it really takes away from the confidence in the bike. I actually have a video from Oct 2014 on my channel where you can hear it give away. The next month, I got a KX250F, and it still goes strong to this day.
KTM bikes have come a long way since 2009. I haven't had any issues with my 2019 and have 100+ hours on it. But I agree with you that a solid running bike gives you the most confidence! What year is your KX250F?
I like the way the carb feels when it's absolutely dialed and I have the lectron pro tuning pretty much perfect at this point, but I think for people running the stock mikuni it can be annoying to ride a bike that is rich or lean. The stock carb is harder to get perfectly dialed at all throttle positions.
Dang bro you make me want to go out and buy 150 now I'm not a big KTM fan at all but I would be interested in riding one someday I sold my YZ125 and definitely miss it..that bike looks sick 😁👍🔥
Thoughts on KTM going out of business? Are you worried about it and ir not being able to get parts for the bike or think it will blow over and be fine?
If you want to get a better feeling in the suspension try the kyb spring conversion kit, I have it in my 22 gas gas and it’s one of the best feeling suspension setups I’ve ridden. If you want to try it out meet me at Southfork some time!
I love my 19 150 just rode it for like 4 hours at glen Helen today but I got the jetting perfect for conditions but it still sputters and doesn’t run like yours might get the lectron. Also what gas do you use in yours? I run like have 110 leaded and half 91 pump
Anyone else notice how short the turn travel is on the ktms? Seems to me after just getting one they really don’t turn the bars far lol ( not for riding issues but to park in my garden it’s a super pain🤣 )
2:50 lol yes this is what I’m getting at! I had a 99 yz144 before and a yzf250 2013 both bikes were road legal and road ridden and high speeds and rpm both bikes become uncomfortably front end light and wanna death wobble so badly lol
5:43 No it wouldn't but thats not a con for the bike lol. If you "ride all the time" and don't wanna worry about the carb bc someone doesn't know how to tune it then sounds like a personal problem not a bike problem
Hey Derek, I recently got a 2021 150sx with 3 original hours on it. But it kind of runs terrible. I’ve read that the stock mikuni carbs were trash and had issues. Trying to decide on doing the JD jet kit ($80) , or getting the lectron carb ($800). Did you have to do any tuning out of the box? Worth it? Thanks
I have a lectron on my 09 150 sx amongst everything else you can do to it and it seems like the lectron is the way to go the tuning is super easy and keeping the bike more reliable

This is the most underrated comment here!
Everytime I See a Derek Video with the 150 in the thumbnail i know Its going to be a good Video
Man… I really want a 125/150 now 0-0
i have a 07 125 and i must admit it is a awesome whip to own
These 150s are so fun dude! Thank you for watching
I just moved from an 85 to a 2023 KTM 125 and I am so excited
Hey I'm looking at getting a ktm 125 (coming from a klx 250) what are they like?
@ very fun to rev out and for me it’s been a blast
@DirtDogsMTV sick
Great video Derek! Weather and track look great and small bore screaming at high rpm's always sounds so good!
thank you sir! I don't think I ever got your name. This video is from June (I'm way behind on video editing 😂)

Thanks man! If you can find a 150 definitely go for it. They are a blast to ride and the extra HP over the 125 is very nice to have.
@ sounds good! What do you think an ideal price range for a clean one would be? Just a range?
What your saying at 2:50 is facts when I rode my other dirt bikes nothing compares to the the handling and stability of my 150 sx
watching this before a trail ride. hell yea
I really want an upgrade on my bike, I have a klx140 atm but tbh I want a 250. Do you think I should upgrade or keep practicing on a smaller bike?
Get the upgrade, and keep the 140 if you can. I got my kx250 2 stroke, but sometimes I just wanna vibe on the ttr230. Gives you the best of both worlds.
KLX140 is a really low maintenance and fun bike. Ride that until you think you need more power and are ready for a 250.
@@DerekHallman yesterday my choke was stuck in so it wouldn’t start at all, all it was was the choke wire stuck in and then it started first try. So yeah they are a really low maintenance bike. Thank you
I also might ride my mates yz250f on the weekend so I’ll see how I go on that

New tires for me rip! I appreciate ya buddy!
I like the way carbs feel as an enduro guy, maybe they're worse for wide open racing

The fun factor on the 150 SX and XC-W are top tier.
I assume you mean fun factor and I agree :)
@@DerekHallman that’s exactly what I typed :)

Thanks dude! Any specific reason you don't like KTM? Why did you get rid of the YZ125?
Do you think that a 125 2stroke would be a good 2 stroke starter bike I’ve ridden many 4 strokes I just would like to get a 2stroke
You ripping dude ✌🏻
thanks bro!
The little dentist drill that keeps in giving!
Thoughts on KTM going out of business? Are you worried about it and ir not being able to get parts for the bike or think it will blow over and be fine?
I think they will consolidate and the flagship KTM brand will come out of it just fine.
KTM will survive.. I just bought a new 150 xc w and I plan to buy another one in a few years. I love this bike
I didnt even start my 150 this year :(
Go ride
sounds like you have a new years resolution for 2025 😂

i would love to put one sx 150 engine on a new 25 honda or kawasaki frame ...nice project it will be

You change tires every 60 hours of riding?
new tires? i've had mine for 12 years they still oem tires straight from yamaha 😅
Ik how you got the taller seat and taller bars How tall are you?
You gotta come to Robert's and ride 150s with me some day

Derek, do you hurt yourself jumping high ramps while sitting down?
No doubt he's standing up
@@Cpslw Ok, but does it hurt to jump while sitting?
@@_Kiara_Cat_ very much so, though it depends on how hard you hit the jump but in general you should always stand up off your seat when jumping

That pains me that you got new tires and rode them on a hard packed track😭
haha to be fair it was so dry that it was really sandy :)
150sx or a 250f? Or both😂😂
Am I the only one who started making 2stroke noise
Btw 2025 150 sx is fuel injected
0:03 I bet he crashes
2 stroke real motocross
