Tired of chasing the playhead every time you want to hear MIDI playback in your Projects? Dig into the MIDI Chase settings and have Logic Pro always trigger your MIDI notes, regardless of whether the playhead is in the middle of a note.

Drives me absolutely bananas that Logic still hasn't given the option to turn MIDI chase on globally for every project. Why wouldn't you want this on by default?
I can’t think of a single example of where you wouldn’t want this turned on.
Right?!
I’m assuming it uses more processing power
Probably because they (apple) want you to buy higher processing Mac’s 🤷🏽♂️
A lot of people don't seem to get that you shouldn't be starting from Logic's "empty" project - a core concept of Logic since V1.x in the early nineties is that you configure a startup template *with all the exact settings, window layouts, track layouts and so on that you want*, so every project you start has Logic setup for your exact needs, ready to go.
This is gold. BS free and explained clearly. Love the channel.
Even though I've used Logic since it was owned by Emagic
and have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to master it,
I still find a lot of gems in your tutorials.
Big fan, big fan🎵
I have been using Logic for several years, i really enjoy working with it, but this last update, I HATE that they changed the instruments Icons when it was so good that when you select a logic instrument, it used to be a 3D icon, but now EVERYTHING appears in “virtual instruments”, I know that I can change every track one at a time, but it was great that Logic instruments were 3D,and then adding other instruments you can select the way they appear. Thanks for your lessons. This one is very helpful
Tried this feature many times and on my large trailer sessions I typically always have playback issues. Especially with sounds the modulate in plugins, etc - things are the same as if it played back from the beginning of the midi region. Good tip for simple productions or logic instruments though!
Thank you Chris, you are a true master of logic! I knew about Chase from prior iterations of logic, but I could not find it - until this tutorial. So thank you again!
Thank you!!!
Great video thanks. I wish there was a general on/off setting for chase MIDI instead of having to turn it on for each project.
Thanks for that. Always wondered why that occurred.
Thank you for this video.
I still don't understand why this option is not included by default.
This is one of the only things that I find totally stupid and that I can blame Logic.
Just create a template and check the tracking option but still... 👍
Finally. Thanks Chris.
Very cool vid! Thanks Chris, you're the MAN!
Thanks Chris... a big help!
Very helpful, thanks!
Great tip Chris 🙏🏼🌟
Waow 😊thanks so much
As hard as it is to think of a reason why this would be turned off by default, it’s even harder to understand why it’s not even an option in the iOS version. Perhaps I’m missing something?
Why would these not already be selected by default? Any idea?
Please do a video on how to get better audio to midi conversion tracks.
I think it's in there,I think it was audio to midi, seen before I updated it...if not,I really recommend ez keys 2,drop file in and gives you note names...worth the money...drop midi on track and use any vst plugin you desire.
Why isn't this default? It is in my notation software.
I've never understood why this is a project setting and not an application setting... and it boggles my mind that it's not ON by default.
Thanks Chris. I was wondering how to get that working. Any idea why my rolling time in the lcd is stuck at zero? Bars and beats roll fine. Time stands still 🤔
Hiding MIDI chase in some weird place and making it something you have to decide on a project basis is actually one of the few arguments against Logic Pro ruling anything....
This should be turned on by default in logic. It's logical.
💯%🍀🍀🍀
The fact that you have to select the midi chase function for every time you start something new (that's not your made up template), is a LP defect. That should be added to a global setting. There are many other defects in LP that are standard operation procedures in other DAW's. Come on Apple, get your act together.
I think I'll leave mine off. When I turned it on it went all over the shop
hah, great
My thing is WHY THE HELL WOULD ANYONE EVEN WANT IT THE ORIGINAL WAY?! Logic is great, but Jesus Christ they have some ridiculous shit that you have to deal with for absolutely no reason.
Seriously? I'm sure you've never seen another MIDI sequencer, apart from Logic. ALL sequencers can do this! This has been a basic feature since the early 90's (before Logic, or it's eMagic predecessors, even excited). If you want to promote your favourite DAW. Don't do it by using lies. You only loose all credibility!
