I was very young when I discovered the world of aviation through series where I learned about the concepts of IFR, IMC, and VFR. At that time in 1987, there were no simulators or other means for me to quickly grasp these aeronautical concepts. My love for aviation motivated me to learn more without encountering difficulties. Unfortunately, I was never able to fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot ! Thank you !!

On the subject of intercepts, one of your best videos was defining exactly what is considered an "established" indication when intercepting an ILS.

Rule of thumb: You should always aim for a 20 to 30-degree intercept angle. This will allow you to smoothly turn into the course without having to chase that needle. The faster your aircraft is, the more crucial this intercept angle becomes.

Normally, ATC should give you a heading that's 30 degrees from the approach course. Sometimes, they turn you late so if you're approaching where you should begin your turn, talk to ATC.

Yes, you did it!! I'm a flight sim enthousiast and althought I scored the highest training percentage for IFR navigation, I still didn't comprehend how to get myself lined up in the right way. And now I do.
Do you also have a change of mindset for nagging wife or children or for keep changes lane on a busy highway, irritating just about everyone there? That last question I ask for a friend! Lol

When the needle comes alive, you don’t turn 90… You turn to 60 and intercept
Intercepting radials is one of the easier tasks for instrument students… Not rocket science

What I've been trying to figure out is let's say you're arcing in and you're watching for your localizer to come alive before turning inbound. If flying 90kts in cessna 172, you can't do a standard rate turn and not blow over your intercept. You have to do a tighter turn, so what's the best way to intercept when localizer is so sensitive?

@@Andromedon777 Most approaches with DME arcs that I've seen have lead-in radials specified. When you reach the lead-in radial, you turn to your intercept heading. Unless I'm misunderstanding your question.
