    (Watching this video right now) but just want to say videos like this are awesome. As far as 70D vs 6D I wouldn't really want to invest in full frame myself. Lenses are more expensive, though if I get the same lenses for a crop I can use the lens' sweet spot which is nice. Noise doesn't bother me. Just got a 70D and I'm ecstatic about it. I have a real appreciation for how much I should just ignore noise as it doesn't show up on a regular monitor/print but even at high ISOs it looks like film grain which no one minded that much (except the photographers). And being able to use auto-ISO is so refreshing and liberating. I'd rather have grainier photos than blurry ones.

    Great job Toby! I can imagine how long it took to edit everything. Thank you very much. My conclusion is that the 70d has the best ratio cost/quality. As an photo and video enthusiast, it covers very well my needs with a resonable price. By the way, I've just bought the Sigma 30mm F1.4 Art and it's a perfect match with the 70d if you are looking for a beautiful bokeh...

    Wow great comparison. I am not that much interested in video work with my DSLR but this comparison looks good. I think the post processing of this review takes much time for you! Very nice work, thumbs up.

    Toby, another good video. I assume you got your 70d back from Canon's service department for the focusing issue. How did that come out?

    Toby I got in to the HD video with cameras that let me shoot in manual mode in the late 2012. I pick up a Canon Vixia HF G10. When I went on the web reading and learning on the forums people said to learn photography. Witch I learning I pick up a Canon t3 1100D. Then last fall I got the 70D.to do both. I know you are in to photography more than video. I would guess you use video the most to shoot your shows.
    One thing I have not seen anyone yet cover is the three autofocus modes on the 70D in video. I know a small aperture is going to give me everything in focus and a large aperture a more shallow depth. I guess my question is have you got any info on the three autofocus modes on it and what mode if best to use at different times? I know someone shooting video for a film is going to use manual focus a lot. I have only see blogger talk about the AF tracking on the 70D. I do wish Canon would give us a focus lock we could set on a button like they did with the upgrade on the EOS C100. Philip Bloom did a test on Canon Pro channel in Vimeo. vimeo.com/89607288

      Hi Michael - I don't have a video about those different modes at this time but I find myself using flexi zone single most of the time- this way I know exactly what the camera is focusing on, similar to the reason I select the point through the viewfinder. If trying to track someone, especially someone facing the camera and will be moving around the first mode is best. I will have more to say soon!

    Great video. Hugely informative. The 5D3 seems to have better overall contrast but I like that the sound on the 70D (which I have) is better since I don't have/use mics yet. The ISO test on the stream was a bit disappointing though with the 6D maintaining more detail. Can you chalk that up to crop vs full size sensor mainly?

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  10 лет назад +1

      Yes - There are a few other images I had that I didn't include which does illustrate that although the 70D does very well for a crop sensor it does start to lose detail before the 6D because of that 6Ds much bigger sensor size.

    your vids and your knowledge is quite amazing. thanks a lot. Is there anyway you can do a video on macs. I just got myself a 70D which you helped gain wisdom for and basically help me in deciding which camera to get, but i dont know much about computers and specs for bouncing my own vids for youtube. I really would appreciate your wisdom in this matter. once again great work man. seriously...

      I am flat out running right now with just the photo stuff but I hope to share more about video in the near future. I have a decent macbook - we talk about it here in the desk tour section at 26:40 ruclips.net/video/m-n5RzPrxW8I/видео.html use Final Cut Pro X for video editing and it is powerful but still easy enough to use. Keep bugging me every few weeks and I will see what I can do :)

    wow 70d is not that bad the quality is the same as 6d if you take away from the grain at a high iso but if you have a good lighting equipment you can take away from that also use plug ins to take away grain another thing the grain doesn't bother too many customers.. as long as it haves a hd look to it and doesn't look to low quality you can get away with it to save a extra 1,000 ill go for 70d get a good lens and more camera accessories

    I wonder if 6D actually has much better in-camera mic or it was because of settings... To me 6D audio sounded a lot cleaner.

    Great Vid, I only have T1i had it for about 5-6 years I have only two lens 18-135 stm and 50mm 1/8. I am at my max with this DSLR. I would like to upgrade to full frame. The two cameras I been thinking of is 5DM3 and D750 I hate to jump ship because I am so use to Canon but I really would like to do indoor shots and video and sports which Camera is the best for my money for what I am doing?

    Is it a good idea to use Canon full frame L lenses on aps-c sensors? Then if ever wanted to upgrade to FF then at least they would work.

    I enjoy your videos, and actually was able to rent a road trip kit from Lumoid (6D), at the moment I am thinking buying 70D for music video shooting, which one would be the best lense to buy? I dont care much for lense noise since I will use off camera audio?

    good video.....may I ask though,,during live view 70d cannot manually or it doesn't give that sound to confirm that you are in focus in manual focus mode?

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  10 лет назад

      When focusing manually with 70D - live view or view finder there is no beep that you are in focus. Only when auto focusing do you get a beep, unless you have turned that off.

    Guys, I am stuck about which camera to buy: 6D (with 50mm 1.8 as a start) or the brand new 80D with 18-135USM lens.
