I know this is an old video, but since you still do home reno projects...you guys have got to get the spray can grip for any spray can projects. It's awesome and protects/saves your finger!!
Dude I am just obsessed with the color of this van. I just completely painted my 97 dodge a similar “sand” color using Durabak-18 and a black rustoleum stripe along the bottom. The best color combo for an adventure rig. Can’t wait for next episode of the series.
I like the sound of that! Thank you!
I really like this idea for the protection and that black look, I am curious about it being harder to wash and clean with the texture of the coating. Am I over thinking this?
Don’t forget rear wheel well & also you can plastidip the slider door rail too. Ours has help up great the past two years
We're on the fence about the wheel well!
You gotta do the wheel well….😊
Should have done wheel well too, you can see upper paint color plus added protection (6:41) nice hack!
We're on the fence about it!
We need more tapes to attached the sides of each corner from the entire van and protecting the surface of the radar and remove the plastic!
It does look so much better! I am surprised that Mercedes has not offered the bottom in black as an option.
Us too Michael!
Looking forward to the suspension upgrades and our to our 4x2 upgrades
Looks so good! Great job! Taylor was pretty funny in this video! I can’t believe it’s been 3 years!!!! Always enjoy your videos!!!
Hahaha thanks Sherry!!! I know 3 years already, time goes fast!
Awesome to see a new van build series from you guys. Looking forward to every Tuesday!!
Thanks Joe!
Such a handy man kev! Also shirts dope and pizza box over the rim is a nice touch 🤣
Haha that shirt is the best
Glad to see you back in the vanbuild mode. Looking forward to the new series and wondering what you may do differently.
Thanks David!!
Looks great guys.
Thanks Dirk!
I’m with Taylor on the shirt. Not a winner hahaha
Looks great
Thanks Bill!
Looking sharp.
Hopefully Kev's shirt made it back into the drawer!
Haha it made it back in the drawer Patrick!!
@@MathersOnTheMap 😁
Van is looking good!
Btw that is an epic shirt Kev 😂
@@mattnorman7421 hahaha!!!! Yes thank you Matt
And the "BUILD" begins... 👍
FYI... A study done of the most successful CEOs in America found one factor they all have in common: They enjoy working 🛠 with their hands!. This is from the book "Let My People Go Surfing" written by Yvon Chouinard the founder of Patagonia Clothing!
Curious... how many hours does it take to film, edit and produce a vlog like this one of 7:48 minutes? 🤔
The surfer t-shirt! 👍... find a good hiding place... plenty of life left! 😂
☀😎Cabo Update...
Weather is 88 degrees and sunny every day...
Hiking near Todos Santos today... little sign of storm damage... only a few washed out sections of road...
The bigger problem have been the rolling electrical blackouts... lasting from a few minutes to several hours! 😱
Locals tell me the fishing is excellent... marlin, mahi mahi and snook...
-Later
That’s interesting about the CEOs I think another commonality would be the desire to learn too! Taylor and I listed to the Audio book of that!
A travel episode takes much longer than a van build since I can better plan out the shots on the build. Rather a travel episode I don’t know what the day will bring so I often have twice if not three times as much content to get through.
Soooo jealous of Cabo! It’s freezing here in NJ we’re getting the aftermath of hurricane Ian right now. Enjoy your remaining time there!!! Pray for no more electrical outages
Look good.
Thanks John!
You always paint with your shirts inside out. ALWAYS. 😂
Haha that’s a solid tip! But the paint still bleeds through no?!
Hey guys , how did you paint your wheel rims ? And what brand of paint you guys used? Enjoy watching your videos. thank you for sharing, Carlos
Hey Carlos we used Plasti-Dip!! I May have showed that at the very end of the video
@@MathersOnTheMap thank you guys for your response and taken the time to write back
Great video. We are going to do the same on our van so it was good to get a preview of what we need to do. Are you planning a doing a video of Plasti Dipping the wheels? I really like the idea but wondered how you did it without taking the wheels off and how you dealt with the overspray on the brakes.
Thanks Ken! Stick a plastic bag between the rim, rotors and brakes. That’s what we did to avoid getting paint on them!
@@MathersOnTheMap Thanks Kevin. I will give that a try.
Why did you take off the back bumper? just to make it easier to get into all of the hinges? Also, how long did it take you to complete the entire job (and dry)? wondering how good of a weather window I need!
Hey Matt, so we didn't have to worry about getting areas of the van we didn't want to get truck bed liner. It's a 2 hours likely without filming?
Lover your videos and glad you are doing another build as I am just starting with my first build! Truck bed liner looks awesome! Did you lightly sand the van before spraying the truck bed liner? Thank you!
We didn’t on this one but did on our first, it’s a tough call if it actually improves the finish since I didn’t have them side by side to compare
@@MathersOnTheMap thank you for the reply. Wondering if sanding helped adherence. Sounds like it may not be much of a difference.
Bruh. That shirt 😂🤣😂
😬🙃
Awesome transformation, you guys! Looks great! Sorry for those t-shirts 😱😅, maybe if you use bleach to remove those black spots on Taylor’s? 🤔 🙂
Aghhh we tried but it didn't come out unfortunately!
hi Kevin what did you clean the trims with before painting and did you paint right over the tires? Thanks
hey Ray, we used glass cleaner which worked well. I wasn't afraid of getting plasti dip on the tires but was not careless about it.
@@MathersOnTheMap Thanks Kevin the new van looks great
