Hi Mike yes I count myself lucky to live close to the sea and such a nice consistent fishing spot So nice to hear from you again your continued support is greatly appreciated cheers Ian
Fantastic Ian , what a lovely mark and a cracking session on free bait ! Congrats to Chris on retirement, look forward to seeing you both out soon 🎣appreciate your efforts.👍🏼👍🏼 Paul
Hi Paul so nice to hear from you again! Hopefully we will both be out more often in the near future..,.and I in return appreciate you taking the time to comment!!!! Cheers Ian
Great to see another video of you on Brean beach, shame Ian couldn't get, but retierment sets you free.😅 looking forward to the two of you on your next outing. Arthur.....Whitley bay.
Hi Arthur lovely to hear from you!!! Glad you enjoyed the video….I grew up in the NE…. Lived in Ponteland until left home and we used to spend many days on the beach at Whitley Bay ,Colourcoats and Seaton Sluice! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment cheers ian
Hi mate that’s a lovely sole!! I We haven’t had one yet this year on Brean but one of my sons mates had one at 2lb about a month ago so they are around though not in any numbers. Tight lines buddy cheers Ian
Hi Danny yes I see on Facebook that the Kent anglers are battling the weed all the time…. On the plus side it seems that the smoothound have been about in numbers this spring!! Thanks as always for watching cheers Ian
Nice to see you doing video been a while good to see ray and bass from brean, may have to go there soon long way from southampton been a few times before and fished off the end of the down too.
Great to see a video, always gives me a nudge to get out. Dug and fished Weston beach the other evening. Only 1 bite for me, came to nothing but felt like a tiny strap. Chap just up from me had a 51cm bass about the same time, so there was stuff out there. Next time....
Yes there are definitely some decent fish about but they are few and far between unlike the last couple of years unfortunately!! I’m sure we will both keep putting in the hours and sooner or later a proper fish will come along!! Fingers crossed!! Cheers Ian
nice ian ,better than my chesil trip last week , not a mackerel in sight , i came down country and the mackerel turned up in barry in big numbers on the knap . the local tackle shop sold out of feathers in a hour ,sods law , i also just blanked on a 2 day carp outing , i got a funny feeling its going to be one of those years , a friend of mine has had a few bass and sole last week further up the channel so they are about ,ATB les
Hi mate lovely to hear from you! Your season sounds like mine unfortunately…. Haven’t been to Chesil in ages but last time mackerel were non existent too!!! I’m retiring at end of July so should be out more than recently hopefully!! Tight lines mate cheers Ian
Hi Steve so nice to hear from you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos…. Definitely more to come in the near future! Appreciate you taking the time to comment much appreciated cheers Ian
Hi Stephen so nice to hear from you again! I will pass on your message to Chris…. Plus I’m hoping to retire myself in the near future so I’m hoping we can fish together even more 😂
Hi Ian. Enjoy your fishing trips, great source of info about this local mark. Few questions for you when you have time.Do you find the beach has a more favoured end. By that I mean closer to Brean or closer to Burnham or stick in the middle as it's pretty much the same. Also do you agree digging your bait fresh and using the native worm can have the edge over worm harvested from another venue?
@garrymadge108 hi Garry nice to hear from you I don’t think any part is significantly better than the other but most anglers here have their favourite There are few gullies along Brean so not a lot of features to hold the fish…. We prefer behind the village hall but some swear by behind unity farm or the golf links I think the fish move quickly along the beach so location not as important as using fresh dug lug…. Occasionally I have tried shop bought lug on Brean but it usually results in failure unfortunately!!! Cheers Ian
Nice to get out again, yes the weather is a bit of a nuisance and the sort of tides we have, was going on a boat trip on Wednesday, but tide and wind was not good but there will be another time soon. Good session Ian nice viewing.👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Hi Glen so nice to hear from you again… I’m totally sick of this windy weather it’s so unseasonal it feels like autumn!!!! Fingers crossed that things settle down soon and we can all enjoy our fishing in some nice summer weather!! Thanks as always for your support cheers Ian
So lovely to hear from you again Paul! Always makes the effort worthwhile as I do struggle sometimes putting a video together!! Take care and thanks for taking the time to comment cheers Ian
😂😂😂 yeah I know it’s been a while but life just gets in the way sometimes unfortunately!!! On the plus side I’m retiring in a month and Chris has just done so…. More fishing and videos definitely upcoming!!! Cheers Ian
Another great video ian. Have you ever used a dongle rig there. ? Do you find smaller or larger tides fish better there? Well done on your retirement chris hopefully more fishing vids to come now ha
Hi Keith lovely to hear from you! Used a dongle down channel when using squid or fish baits but never on Brean using lug. Best tides between 10.5 and 11.5m in my opinion Fingers crossed me and Chris get out even more! Cheers Ian
@ianclarkfishing we're over there in the boat in the morning couldn't get lug so trying rag we had a nice one around a month ago off the stakes so that's where we're headed tight lines
Hi Ian nice video as usual. I`ve seen you fish Brean Beach in previous videos and noticed how shallow it looks, you also never seem to wade out before you cast so I`m guessing the Bass must come in pretty close even though you have to retreat a good distance every chuck?
Hi Gordon lovely to hear from you Yes first cast an always drop close as you say the bass can be 50 yards out in 2ft of water at times! Very easy to wack the bait out over their heads I think! With the speed of the incoming tide your bait will be 200+ yards out in no time anyway!! Cheers ian
Great video as always, Ian. Is parking easy at Brean? I've a mate who is slightly restricted on distances although if it's flat it is easier for him. Cheers and tight lines.
Hi thanks for watching Between I think 9am and 5pm you can park on the beach for a charge at the Brean end or behind Unity Farm. You need to park against the dunes and not on anything over a 11.5m tide. Plus bear in mind you are fishing the 3 hours up to high water you don’t want to be locked out on the beach!!! I park on the grass verge opposite Brean village hall ( not behind the yellow lines) and take the short walk through the cutting to the right of the hall…, it’s a bit narrow and soft sand but only about 100 yards to the beach! Hope this helps cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishingthanks - very helpful. Found the VH and can see the double yellows but not where you mean. I’ll try and get down around 7th August. I think tides look decent with a HT around 2100
Grass verge just south of village hall on opposite side of road… the first 30 yards of verge is behind yellow lines and a ticket id guaranteed if you park there…. Just go past them and all ok! Good luck
Hi thanks for watching! I park on the grass verge opposite Brean village hall ( don’t park behind the double yellow line) There is a cut to the beach to the right of the hall. Hope this helps cheers Ian
Hi Ian, What type of Lug is it that you dig on Brean? And does it stay fresh for a couple of days (i.e. If I were to dig some on a Friday evening it would still be good bait on the Sunday if stored in a cool place)? Cheers and keep up the good work!
Hi Will Brean lug is blow lug…. If you can keep it cool wrapped in newspaper or similar you can definitely keep it two days but probably not much longer… we store ours in fridge if we need to keep it Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing Hi Ian, I went to dig for 30-40 mins at low water. The only worms I encountered were microscopic (you'd need a size 14 hook to use them). @willbacon416 you’re way too far down the beach!! About 50 yards beyond the first worm casts is ideal they are usually only a spit or so down! We trench dig in areas of high concentration of casts! Hope that helps cheers Ian
