I think this is the first of your videos I’ve watched and you are immediately my all time hero. That shop! And it’s sooooo clean! The flag is super cool too!
Thanks! We are just getting started and have a some new videos coming soon. Check out our honeycomb shelf video here! Building A Custom Honeycomb Shelf ruclips.net/video/Y125gmXoGwE/видео.html
Looks like you didn't have any problems with the stain seeping under the vinyl stars. I tried this using painters tape, it worked pretty well but it did bleed through a bit. Any suggestions?
Honestly, It can be a problem at times. I have found that you need to address it quickly. Usually this involves sandpaper or a sharp chisel. If you catch it early enough it isn’t too hard to sand or scrap away any artifacts from stain bleed. My worst problems have been with painters tape. Try to use some sort of sticky vinyl. I have had the best luck with that. Hope this helps!
This method of the sticky stars is awesome! I have been trying to figure out a way to avoid carving out 50 different stars with a dremel. Do you know of a place that sells the star template in the vinyl already ready to go so I could just buy it? I’m not sure how many of these I will make and would like to try a couple before I commit to buying the cricut machine. Thanks!
The template I use is roughly 40” long. If the piece is longer than the template, you can just slide it down and finish off tracing the pattern. The wave pattern just repeats itself over and over, it doesn’t really matter what section of the template you use to trace. The only important part is offsetting the wave at the beginning.
I heard you saying something about cricket on the star placement on the flag. Where do I find such a way to put stars on a wavey flag? I tried placing a template and pressing the template down on my star placement but found overspray on the blue. Any help would be appreciated. Great job on your flag.
The Cricut cuts out a sticky vinyl sheet with the stars on it. Once the stars are stuck to the union, I pull off the section that doesn't have the stars. This leaves a vinyl sticker in the shape of a star. I then apply stain and remove the star after the stain has been wiped away. Essentially the Cricut creates a "painters tape" in the shape of the star. Hopefully this helps!
If you're not familiar with a Cricut, I should mention that it is an electronic cutting machine that can cut out designs in various materials. A google search for Cricut will bring up their website.
We use a Cricut Maker. Honestly, I have only ever used it for the stars, so I can’t give much of a recommendation. I know there are a few different models to choose from. My recommendation would be to check out some comparisons on RUclips.
Хорошая работа! Душевная!

How can I get the pattern for the wavey part to cut
Wow. Great work! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much!

Sorry, I’m not sure on this one. I would check out Etsy. We plan on opening an Etsy store soon, but currently don’t have anything.
Did you have any luck in finding the peelable star template? I haven't.
Great job cant wait to give it a try ! On the template is it a extra 12 inches longer because it keeps moving 1 inch per board ?

I was wondering where you got or how did you make the template for the waves in the wood?? Thanks

Can you recommend a circuit setup for a beginner?
Cricut

How did you seal the end product? You mentioned 4 coats but didn’t show what you used.
Minwax polycrylic water based top coat. Clear matte.
Thank you
Where do you get stripe and union stars dimensions for different size flags
I use an online calculator. Here is the link. www.omnicalculator.com/other/flag
Awesome!
Thanks!
is there a specific measurement for the template you made meaning the distance between the peaks and vallys?
No. Adjusting the distance changes how wavy you want your flag. It’s all personal preference.
I’d like to know the color formulas for the stains you used.
Minwax semi-transparent water based stain. The union is Navy and the stripes are Barn Red
