As a teenager I admired Norman after hearing Gravy Train then the Barratt band, as well as seeing him play with Larry Norman, and I met him through some mutual friends and always dreamed of playing with him. I finally got the chance 3 years ago to rehearse with him for a few months tho we never gigged. It was a privilege to know him and his life has been a testimony to the Lord he loved. Now he HAS seen the Lord! We do not mourn as those who have no hope - one day we will meet again!
I've had the joy of hearing Norman play here in Stavanger several times ...with the Barrat Band, with Sheila Walsh, Larry Norman and I think also with Adrian Snell and 'The Passion'. Also served him some food and talked with him. He seemed to me a humble and kind man. I was young, and it surprised me that such a talented singer/guitar player could behave soo humble :) I had his recordings on vinyl, and must sadly say that when the cd's came, all of my lp's had to go :( I miss hearing 'your Love' ...my favorite song by Norman. Found it here on RUclips earlier, just with the album picture on, but now it's gone :( I hope someone has it, and will put it back up here again :) I look forward to meet Norman again in Heaven :) :)
great stuff didnt know norman myself but my dad did, this music will never age such an inspiration and great player musician and writer sadly missed RIP norman will meet you some day.
The Barrett Band at Greenbelt - I was there at the Greenbelt Festival - Knebworth. Norman Barrett a friend RIP - BHP Little Norm we called him because there was another friend called - Big Norm RIP - BHP Both from the North - not to far from St Helens my ex home town. Here is Little Norm singing ‘I have never seen your face’- so powerful. Such meaning for me. So much emotion in the song. The Voice and near the end there is a Guitar Solo at which I weep. I weep for the men. I weep for the song I weep for the lyrics and the guitar solo tips me over the edge …….. www.pipwilson.com
