ADVENT’s wide 9-speed chain and rugged design make it the most tolerant, durable 1x drivetrain on the market. Check it out: www.microshift.com/news/bombp...
I really liked the durability and quality of Deore 9x derailleur and it is quite frustrating to see the price tags on modern equipment. The idea behind Microshift is exactly what suites my needs. Reliable components that are easy to install and maintain ment for recreative use for a fair price. Thumbs up.
My first mountain bike had an 9-speed Advent derailleur on it. During the first year I rode the crap out of it, banged it up real good, bent my derailleur hanger a few times and almost never cleaned/lubed the drivechain. Even after bending the derailleur hanger I still had a few good gears to get me home. I am still riding the bike with the original, scarred up derailleur! Now that I clean and and lube my drivechain semi-regularly, it shifts flawlessly and quietly. I can’t even remember the last time I had to index my gears. Right now you can buy a brand new Advent for $45. What a great product and a incredible price. THANK YOU microSHIFT!!!
Thanks for sharing, that's awesome! This is exactly what we had in mind when we made ADVENT. We've got a video coming out soon where we actually hit one with a baseball bat and bend it back, so you won't be the only one with a slightly bent derailleur!
Thank you guys for building the products you do. Every one of my family's bikes has at least one Microshift component. Between bringing a decaying 8-speed Shimano road groupset back to life on my ancient Cannondale, to converting my wife's flat-bar commuter to a drop-bar bikepacking setup with Advent brifters, to the brand-new drop bar AdventX group that was specced on my Surly Ghost Grappler, I'm convinced that Microshift beats the pants off any Shimano or SRAM product at the same price point. I look to you guys first for everything I need and everything has been so consistent and easy to live with.
I have recently bought the Advent RD, 11-42t Cassette, and the basic advent shifter. I have installed it myself onto my Polygon Heist 4.0 bike, replacing my Shimano Deore 3x10 drivetrain. As part of the setup, I took down the Shimano Deore FD and left the 36t ring on it to have 1x9 setup. All I can say is, Microshift has done an amazing job with with this component. I have no regrets switching and infact, it is butter smooth shifting across the cassettes and easy to maintain. In addition to this, the support team was Uber fast in responding to my queries. Kudo to you, guys!
I brought the Advent drive train just before the launch of the Advent x I was kinda mad that I didn't get the Advent x but iam really impressed with what I have been riding with. I have had no issues with it, regular lubrication of the chain is all it has needed.
I have a Advent 1by9 drivetrain on my Decathlon ST530 with 11-42 cassette and all i can say is it is a very good drivetrain with great shifter cassette and derailleur. Thank you Microshift team for such a gr88 drivetrain at an affordable price. Just one suggestion try to incorporate gear indicators on lever.
Boy, y'all really hit a home run with Advent, didn't you? I am working on a budget gravel bike for a friend out of an old hybrid frame. Advent should be great.
I have a advent 9 on my jamis dxt a1. AMAZING group set. Love it. Perfect for mtb. When on road i wish there was a 10th or 11th gear, but oh wait theres other advent models for that. But i can forgive it, because i agree. The 9spd is the way to go for mtb.
Good job on offering such a versatile system in a affordable price! One thing I have noticed is that Advent system does not play well with narrow designed inner width 9 speed chain such as box prime 9 chain. The chain almost always have some sorta gear jumps when shifting down no matter how well the derailleur is adjusted. My Sram PC 971 has no problem at all, and I would imagine KMC and Shimano will do as well (the fatter outer plate width). This is just my own experience, but if others have similar experiences this would be worth mentioning :) edit: minor correction
I’m really enjoying the 1x9 11-42t I got on my first mountain bike it works very well with no problems after quite a few miles and some rough trails. I’d like to see a 1x10 11-52 version sometime for the toughest climbs.
Hello, I would like to know if Microshift products are available in Argentina because I am considering this groupset for my 29er hardtail. It looks very reliable for my type of riding!
While we think indicator is good, it get's in the way of compatibility with brake levers. We think having the shifter being able to orient in different ways for different people is more important. 1x is also making indicator less important. Without the front derailleur, you don't really need to know which cassette cog you are on anymore!
I´m from Brazil and here there´s a huge gap (and I also imagine in many other countries): you have no option for a wide range cassette other than shimano and sram top tier groups (cost a lot with reduced durability). That´s why here a lot of people adapt these cassettes in entry level groups, out of manufacturer specs (of course with compromises). You guys filled that gap, I´ve seen more and more bikes with microshift groups. That´s wonderful. Just bought one bike with microshift and I´m eager to try it.
I only learned about Advent group recently and immediately obtained a medium cage derailleur, 11-46T cassette and a thumb shifter. The latter will be used on my ancient Giant Boulder 500 in a friction mode. Just wondering what is the button/switch on a derailleur for?
It enables/disables the clutch mechanism. The clutch keeps the chain secure over rough terrain, but makes wheel changes more difficult. Keep the switch on when you're riding, turn it off when you're removing your rear wheel.
Is there any possibilty for a 1x10 with 5t of separation between gears for 500% range, 11-56t? Some would rather have range in preference to fine grained gearing.
When it comes to gearing, it's all about percentage change. There's a much bigger percentage change between an 11t and 16t cog than a 51 and 55t cog. We set up our Advent and Advent X cassettes to have the most consistent percentage jumps possible, so that every shift changes the feel about the same amount.
My shimano shifter does not work properly with this derailleur, I’m having to double shift just to go up one gear I’m only getting 5 gears from a nine speed. Any suggestions??
The only real option is to buy an ADVENT shifter. Shimano doesn't make a shifter that's compatible with our ADVENT group. We make a lot of different shifters for this derailleur and they're pretty economical, for what it's worth!
love the train of thought, as an engineer i like the less is more mantra. durability and function are my base principles. one question for @Microshift do you have to use the advent shifter with the advent rear mech? or can you use a shimano shifter which i already have?
Yeah, the ADVENT system has a wide gear range, so the shifter needs to pull more cable overall. Shimano doesn't make a shifter that's compatible with this. The good news is that we have lots of different styles of ADVENT compatible shifter, so hopefully you can find something that works for your needs.
The switch simply turns the clutch on the derailleur on and off. The clutch is a common mechanism on modern bike derailleurs to stabilize chain movements and prevent the chain from dropping when you go through rough terrains!
@@filipinodudelagoon7980 I had one of these on the last build, and due to my lack of experience, I was not able to get bottom gear. The other gears worked fine, even behind a BBS-HD.
