Maybe this is why Outlook was called LookOut about 10 years ago.
Please provide instructions for outlook web.
Thanks Brian.
It doesn't affect the web client, its only the desktop client.
@@TheStevenWhitingOh ok thanks.
@@TheStevenWhitingGood to know
For the Web edition: under 'View" - 'View Settings' - 'General' - 'Privacy and Data' - under External Images it should be automatically selected to always use Outlook services to view images. To not to do so, you risk exposing your device to malicious risks, as it states. Hope that helps.
@@oceania68 TY, very helpful.
The preview pane has had problems like this in the past!
I stopped using Windows Mail. Now I'm now using Mozilla Thunderbird. And I like it.
This makes sense now. My email was hacked yet I rarely use that particular address. This video has helped me understand how to resolve the issue. Many thanks
You're welcome
Done! Thanks as always😎
Done. Thank you Brian.
Welcome!
FOCUS people ... read the video description 🤦♂
thanks Brian
You're welcome!
Thanks. Done
my outlook looks completely different. there is no file option
and by the way you should erase the 805 junk mails and the 487 deleted items
that's like storing a tissue with coronavirus in a closet.
Leaving mine unticked .... I hate NOT seeing images in mails. 😜
I don't have any of these options on the Desktop app version. mines is from the Windows Store.
Good vid on protecting yourself in Outlook.
I'm using the Outlook app, this doesn't have any of the settings you're describing. What can app users do!?
same here app looks different
It doesn't affect the web client, its only the desktop client.
@@TheStevenWhiting thanks. Simple yet effective
web client should be OK
Ah cheers!
Im sick to death of spam with Outlook the same people sending the same crap all the time. Ive tried everything i know to stop this.
Use Outlook for calendar and LibreOffice I do not see any setting you are talking about?
What about the outlook from Microsoft store mail what about those settings as well.
Is it safe to open a junk or bad email as long as you do not show images?
@2:50 The outlook version we have here no longer comes with the `file` menu option.
what version is that?... cause they all have it up the 2021 version in the video
@@DimpieDeBruyn Outlook Version 1.2024.829.100 (Production).
Now Brian my version of Outlook does not have that File tab what do I do as I get a huge number of suspicious stuff coming through my emails and many I cannot block using the usual "Rules" method..
I can't seem to find the file toolbar option on the top left. I have changed it to classic ribbon.
I am using the "New Outlook" Windows client. Anything to change in its settings?
Are we talking about Outlook the email client part of Office 365? or Outlook the service accessed via the web? or the inbuilt mail app on Windows 10/11 that is also now named "Outlook"? Within a couple of years I predict Microsoft will name every product they offer "Outlook"
Can you confirm this doesn't affect the "new" Outlook? Thanks
What about viewing outlook emails using other email clients like thunderbird or Gmail, does this exploit only apply to MS outlook email client.?
That is the Web email, no worries.
You never knw with Microsoft... dead right on that. Just yesterday I watched another youtuber how Tuesday update made the file explorer crash when opning it from the task bar in Win11, in some systems. What else?
Is thunderball affected by this if it contains Outlook a/cs, thanks Brian?
If you have them options, change them
Graet vídeo very good staff
dose this apply for web based email thats what i use
This applys to Outlook
@Britec09 I believe they were asking you if this affects Outlook (web) as well as Outlook desktop client. Your reply of "Outlook" may not have been clear.
@@Britec09 same question webmail outlook/hotmail?
@@IOTWVUVWTOI yes indeed thats whatni was asking thanks
@@Britec09 the outlook app is completely different to what you are showing can you elaborate please?
Brian I am in New Outlook Email - not with 365 thou - and keep getting duplicate emails for Gmail & Hotmail - is this the same problem - thou can't find File, Options headings etc. etc to correct faults as you mention - I am on 23H2
So to get what options and headings you are showing where should I download this from as I used one from Microsoft Store which is nothing like you have shown.
i know you censored your email before but at 2:10 it is being shown
Its OK, not to worried
Too*
Is this only for the outlook program? I use the web version and none of these options are available.
