This is the very image that first captivated me and led me to discover Scott Robertson. Still one of my favorites. Thanks for showing us how part of it was done!
I had this doubt for years, because I tried with the glass filter but never got the same result, Thanks again for the tut and Clarifying everything Scott!! Awesome!
Oooo that's very helpful, I didn't know that. I'd been switching to the move tool and holding alt while dragging on the layer up until now. This is much quicker. Thanks for sharing. :)
I LOVE Feng's channel to glorious bits, but I find Scott's videos to be a lot more explanatory and better-paced with his shared processes. Plus, I like learning from the guy who taught Feng. ;)
Thank you m8, I have been subscribed there for a long time :P He is rly good and helpful too. I am glad you took the time to mention it- it speaks a lot about the art community and how rdy to help we rly are to one another ;)
Yes he is good for the purpose of getting started since it explains the basics mainly, but belive me, dude, this here is priceless. This is like listening to a Bobby Chiu interview :P
cool demo Scott , quick question Have you used the new blackwing pencil by palomino to do any of your sketches.I hear its one of the best pencils in the world .
When you're about to add the motion blur using radial blur, make the layer a smart object, you'll be able to edit 'on the fly' with Smart Filters and you get a layer mask aswell. So it's a bonus within a bonus. ( :
WOW !!! That's fantastic man. This is exactly what i'm looking for. I was thinking to create something like that(with motion) ... and then, implement it in a virtual simulator. Is that posible to create a distortion file with photoshop and use it in an other program as ..... effect ??
Thanks a lot... nice video.. Somehow I knew you're going to use a Filter to achieve the effect. trying to achieve the same with Blur tool? Will be less realistic...more comical...
Oh, then you should check out Proko for sure. Best there is for figure drawing. Also the muddycolors blogspot is a nice place for traditional illustrators and they give a lot of tips. Best to you
It doesn't even make sense comparing the two of them. Scott is primarily focused in vehicle design and it's material rendering, while Feng teaches about concept art. Two different subject matters in which each one needs a different approach.
Nothing like wasting 3 hours trying to find a tutorial on how to make the sound/vibrational wave distortion that looks like the effect used in movies (Shriek's shout from Let There Be Carnage and Pied Piper's sound gloves from The Flash TV show looking sort of thing)but all I am finding is heat distortion tutorials which aren't giving me the result I want. I wish I wasn't such a photoshop noob, if I wasn't I could improvise better.

This must be the most helpful and informative design/illustration channel in the Galaxy ! Ty

Awesome!
when it all comes together at the end, its quite incredible!
Oooo that's very helpful, I didn't know that. I'd been switching to the move tool and holding alt while dragging on the layer up until now. This is much quicker. Thanks for sharing. :)
That's a very cool tutorial. Speed and heat in one shot! Thanks :D
Thank you so much for this. You really did an awesome job of explaining and showing great editing in a very simple manner.
