Carre Otis Opens up About Mickey Rourke 'Abuse'

- Supermodel Carré Otis is coming out with a new memoir titled Beauty, Disrupted, where she candidly writes about everything from her past drug use and an eating disorder to her notoriously volatile relationship with ex-husband Mickey Rourke.According to Otis, it was something like love at first sight between the two when they met during her audition for the 1990 film Wild Orchid."I think that that initial meeting was an immediate familiarity," she tells correspondent Christina McLarty. "It was sort of recognition of somebody who I knew there was an incredible charge with, and energy between. So in a way it was that 'dangerous at first sight' ...and now I think, I know better -- those are the red flags." (ETonline.com)
She divorced him when she was 30, after a 6 year turbulent marriage marred by his temper and her heroin addiction. She would have been 24 when she married him, that's hardly a kid. She'd been on her own since she was 16 modeling and being grown. So she wasn't this innocent victim. She was equally responsible for messing up her life and getting back on track. What a hollow interview. Her responses are so vague, rehearsed and as fake as her face.
She was such a drug user, she almost destroyed his life.. I read that way before she did this.. She was extremely abusive to him.. Not all men are the abusers...
Didn't he save her from a heroin house?
More #MeToo bullshit!
He shot her. Other than that.
@@brandonwooster7663 he did. And if you pay attention she never admitted to him actually hitting her.
EH PA he did not shoot her. The gun was in her purse. She threw her purse on the table the gun went off. It was accidental.
I read Carrie's book and the truth is she was involved in heavy duty drugs going all the way back to her early teen years - she had led an extremely choatic life long before she met Rourke. She was a heroin addict which she doesn't talk about in these interviews and that was a big source of friction between her and Rourke. Both Carrie and Mickey were extremely messed up and emotionally wounded - I guess that's why they got married. At least Rourke isn't using the past to sell himself.

Exactly!! Mickie was able to go back to his success without any playing volnurable victim from his past. She keeps saying about some abuse but she is never brave enough to say "I was a f up drug addict and Mickie had trouble because he publicly put my dealer into hospital" no! Now when she is sober she keeps pointing at him as a bad choice of a relationship... ruclips.net/video/PFnbUZwvo98/видео.html fast forward to 04:00
Couldnt agree more with you. The relationship was dysfunctional and they were both losers. The point is to learn something from it and move on. They both have done steps forwards. Obviously her opinion in the book is coloured with her emotions thats why i cant believe her 100%.
Exactly 👍👍👍 thats what men do take accountability, women look for emotional excuses
@@triumphsrule0793 that's an untrue generalization
Let's set the record straight, Yes Mickey was no saint and he had a drinking problem and anger issues. Carrie was just as bad if not worse, she hit Mickey and also she was a terrible heroin junkie. That is one of the reasons why Mickey is not with her anymore, that is why Carrie disappeared for so many years and no one remembers her anymore. Just as well, I looked in her eyes in this interview and I can tell she is lying and exaggerating. Mickey has turned his life around, and has a good heart.
Wonderfully said! This woman is a pure example of the old saying"Wherever evil can't go he sends a woman" she keeps playing victim, talking about abuse and therapy but she never says "I was a druggie F UP"
Right! Abuse toward men is treated like it doesn’t count!
Perfectly expressed. So true.

He takes responsibility for his choices and she should too.
She definitely needs to be responsible for her choices as well. He admits they both had issues.
She should take ownership and stop blaming everyone else but herself....narcissistic or what.
yeah. very natural to beat your wife....
You know , she should be ashamed cause she's being purposely hurtful and especially to Micky who has been abused a lot as a kid; Micky told that he only beat up the guys who were supplying her heroine and did drugs with her , that she was high on drugs all the time she couldn't even remember what was going on.
A volatile mix of hard drugs, a young beauty with older insanely jealous guy.. what cd go wrong

I wouldn't pin the problem or blame on either one of them. They were each both abusive and abused, but there was no one villain, they were sick, addicted, damaged human beings. The only difference I can see here is that Mickey is acknowledging this and owning his own issues. Carre is still trying to shift the whole blame onto him. They victimized each other, yes, but more importantly, they were doing it first to themselves. Carre needs to correctly and evenly apportion responsibility.
Except he didn't physically abuse her and was never an addict. Was he sick? That's a judgement call on your part. Everyone has issues but you should get your facts straight before trying to play the centrist empathizer.
@@dravenarcane2735 After 20 years in 12-step and personal therapy, I have a take on the situation that knows that it almost always takes two, and both sides are complicit. If that seems like "centrist empathy" a subtly pejorative term meant to dismiss or minimize my observation, by the way, I'm thinking it pushed a button with you and you're trying to find clever ways to challenge my statement. What exactly IS that button? And who are you trying to justify here? I see you trying to defend Mickey by saying (OMG) at least he didn't PHYSICALLY abuse her, and wasn't an addict. Are you fucking kidding? Mentally and emotionally he tore that woman to shreds. And since he wasn't chemically addicted, that makes it not so bad?? Give it a rest. My experience is that we defend the ones we most identify with. For you, that would be Mickey. In plain, unadorned English, go soak your head.

You have a pleasant day too. We're done here, methinks.
@@DivineSimply I was already done. Ascribing intent is lunkheaded , gas lighting abuse in and of itself. Go be a dick somewhere else.
She was so out of her head on heroine and drugs at the time of her relationship with Mickey. He loved her very much but her addictions broke up their marriage.
Couldn’t agree more. He even said she was so messed up there is no way she can remember anything. And the sad thing the guy still loves her.
His ex wife Debra Feuer said ,he didn't abuse and beat her.and he was influenced by Carre's drugs addictions so much.I prefer Debra to Carre.Debra and Mickey are still good friends. But MIckey had been waiting for Carre for 10years and said she was one and only woman who he loved once. Sad Mickey loves his dogs more than women!
They were both broken
If you need to heal why do it in the spotlight? And by trashing somebody else?
She's a krill.. Many of those around unfortunately
Highly agree... using socmed (social media) to "call out" people, I am unsure it is part of the "healing" process.
She must take some responsibility as well. Blaming everything on Rourke it just shows that Mickey was not as bad as she is trying to persuade people. Grown up people always take some responsibility for anything to happen in their life and this woman only blames her ex- it shows that she still isn't at the point where she is grown enough to admit that at least some part of their relations's problem was her fault too.
Exactly... she’s from The SF Bay Marin , victim Capitol of the world
When asked ‘ did Rourke beat you’ she skirted around the answer by saying there was abuse. That didn’t answer whether or not he physically abused her. She needs to admit her part in the tumultuous relationship and openly say she was an addict!
I wish that were true… Unfortunately one can be grown up but not mature

I don't understand why people are being so mean about her sharing her side of the story.
Well I’ll help you out. It’s ONE-SIDED and self-effacing at best.
Because yt is over run with raging misogynists who choose to not believe their beloved celebrities could possibly be abusers.
Because she's a woman and her ex husband is famous.
I think it’s because she’s only telling half the story
Because he is a celebrity, people always defend these people and have an image and fantasy of them in their own imaginations.

She was a model, too, with many fans

She did that movie in her late teens. Damn. What does a 19 year old know about life to be cast in such a role. Hollywood needs to put an age cap on the sex roles like 24.
It was the 80s. Thankfully they can’t get away with that crap now!
Carri parece mayor. Se ve 24 a 25 añoa en la película.
Why did she wait 20 years to complain about her marriage to Mickey Rourke. She is just a pitiful person looking for some recognition. This just doesn't fly!
Would the fans had believed it even if she spoke up while he was literally beating her infront of them? Celebrity makes people stupid.
She did not sound believable
shes doing this to make money, you see the book. So whatever will get people to buy the book she will say or do. Two sides to every story, I expect both were to blame and have moved on. I see Mickey is doing fantastic now great!
Yup. That's what I try to tell people. He openly admits he loves her but the way she speaks about him, she never loved him at all.
He says he loves her but asked about the abuses he denies them with gestures that reveal he may be lying. Anyway, thanks God she is free now.
Because Mickey betrayed her on a fundamental level.......she is displaying a healthy common sense.
And the morons will believe an ex coke head actress ,shes such the victim

This chick was horrible for Mickey. Too many bad habits. Now she’s trying to cash in. Despicable.
He destroyed his acting career because of his impossible attitude and had nothing to do with her. She mighthave had a conflicted past and a drug dependency, but he put a gun to her head, and that is not something a sane person will do. That's what is despcable. Every day, thousands of women all over the world are killed by an intimate partner. If you guys think someone is not good for you, then leave and find someone better. She has now been happily married for over a decade, but Micky is still completely single. He simply can't get along with other people. And that's what the truth is.
Yes he we go again, it was all his fault, and she was perfect. Another poor innocent victim.
doesn't mention her serious heroin addiction...shockinnnn
She was the perfect heroin addict. Touching.
Quite frankly I can't see what he saw in her.
Mickey oozes charisma and at the height of his career had more sex appeal than Brando and James Dean put together. Despite his many ups and downs he stayed true to himself and deserves a lot of respect.
She's a cold fish.
Don't be a disgrace.
He was a washed up druggie. Get real.
"There was abuse, and there was enough abuse to call it abuse" Good lord, she needs to learn to speak English. What the heck does that sentence mean? As opposed to abuse but not enough abuse to call it abuse?
Less abuse than abuse is not abuse.
"Was there abuse?"
"There was enough to call it abuse."
If you're going to make allegations that are damaging to someone else's character, then answer a simple yes or no question.
HA! One of them has a career now. And she is not the one.
I read the book yrs. ago and he payed for her treatment to get offf the drugs. You can get this book at the library. It's interesting' but not a best seller. She was really hooked on drugs, and it pretty much stopped her from having quality of life.
So he tries to help her and this is the thanks he gets... can't stay her!
So she says that he helped her on 5he book
What in the hell did he see in her, he seems like a challenging person, but has a twinkle in his eye, I'd say he's fun to be around, she on the other hand seems wooden, dull and boring. I much prefer Mickey.
Ex wife Debra feuer said ,when we married ,Mickey never had beaten and abused her.then he was so naive and jealous.
Was there abuse? There was enough to call it abuse. So what she really means is that he never actually hit her. They were both off the rails at the time and he acknowledged that. Good look selling your book honey, it's all you have left.
Mickey still cares for her, wishes her well, and thinks she is doing ok. So you are just a misogynist piece of shit.
Yep-when people like her do this 'word salad' response without answering the question, something isn't jiving.
How can you write a book or talk about your relationship when you were pushing heroin and you don’t remember anything! This man loves you still loves you. You can’t control someone on heroin who wants to be on heroin and do nothing else. Your a big part of the picture to babe
He said he didn’t touch her plus she doesn’t mention her heroin addiction
She's a typical celebrity whose career is going nowhere: you write a tell-all book to make a few bucks and stir up some interest in whatever sorta talent you might have. She’s pretty but I don’t know what else she has going for herself. I’m sure her drug addiction didn’t help thier relationship though she doesn’t mention that, ironically.
I'm still a fan of him,if he is a jerk or not. They both were too naive to understand each other. He wasn't good at reading her feeling.Actually she didn't want to be his wife because of his violent behavior and bad rumor. He think she was the best woman who he had met . He tended to protect from every men who approach her.The way his loving was restraining her.Unfortunately,he believed it's a real love .So when she resisted him,he beated her.So sad marrige made them unhappy each other.Rourke had been waiting for her a so long time. She can't forgive and want to get out of him from her world. After all this couple hurted each other. So sad story...Mickey Rourke's love interests are his dogs,he is saved by them.Good for him.
Lol
Carre Otis was a rising super model whose career got cut short by her relationship with Mickey Rourke. This young girl with a troubled past and naivete was swept up by Hollywood and Mickey Rourke. That's why manipulative older men tend to hook up with these impressionable young girls. Most women who have been around the block a few times will not put up with this nonsense like his insane jealousy and temper. These men prey on the younger girls for that reason, they can be manipulated and brainwashed easily. Many 20 year olds do not know what they want in life. Carre tried very hard to get away from him, and Mickey just stalked her almost to death. Thank god she got rid of him and the heroin habit he introduced her to. Mickey Rourke has always been sketchy.
Precisely.

@@millajurgen-rc2mhIt’s not unclear. He was 37 years old and she was 19 years old when they met - almost a 20 years difference! She was a teenager gorgeous, rising super model.
After so many years she's still so evasive over giving straight yes or no answers. She was actively taking drugs and drank a lot when under that influence you still need to take ownership of your mistakes which she clearly still doesn't. Just passing the buck and making mickey take the rap
Sounds like you're saying that because she was drinking and doing drugs that she's somehow partially responsible for her partner's domestic violence towards her. That's pretty fucked up. As long as she wasn't physically violent towards him, then he had no right to be violent towards her.
Totally agree with 'PlanetCharnBaby'. If he did it, he did it. And nothing excuses it.

The misogynistic comments on here are disgusting. He clearly abused her and people don't want to face that fact. Mickey is still dating girls young enough to be his granddaughter, which tells you something. He clearly has not really changed and the sad fact is in a patriarchal world abusive men who are wealthy and famous face no consequences. Who knows what he has/is doing to other young women. Creep.

Wow the comments here are really sad to read. A lot of people justifying Carre Otis being abused because she had a drug problem. There is no excuse for abusing someone, there is no reason to put your hands and or gun to someone's temple. Hopefully they both got the help they needed.
He owned up to his part of their relationship and what he was like but she is very elusive about her part. As a woman, I don't buy her diatribe not because the abuse didn't happen but because she isn't admitting to her part of being abusive. How could she know when she was high on drugs ... he knows and he's a gentleman about it, just says he's there for her if she ever needs him. I guess she needed the money.
sometimes I wonder if there isn't any other topics that old supermodels can talk about in a book other than how to apply makeup or trashing exhusbands. pathetic, pityful.
It’s called cocaine. They both did it and she’s obviously showing signs of brain damage by cocaine was she is taking advantage of yes maybe because he was at the moment older smarter stronger so yeah, he was alpha in the relationship and she couldn’t stand it because when she grew up a little bit, she understands that she was alpha, so there you have it those kind because of just ego time was wrong but SOARE or connected if this souls are connected, this is the most important thing and they were so connected
They were both broken. She chose to come out at the other side. I feel compassion and love for Mickey too and hope he can heal and find peace and that he opens his heart to find love again.
He is an a-hole. I read her book - I find suspect “all of it”
But who knows ??
I was around their crowd back then. Mickey’s trainer was a friend of mines bf and the deal was that she was on heroin and he beat the hell out of the dealer. She was just too young and he really was larger than life at the time in LA. I remember he had a club called Tattoo in Beverly Hills. I really don’t think he was that bad but he did abuse her she says. I never saw that but I only saw them a few times. We also owned a storage where he stored a bunch of things like the motorcycle from Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man. I got a photo of me on it.
He has said so many times he didn’t hurt her and she made up lies. Clearly he was trying to get her clean!
She just needs to get on with her life. I have been in bad relationships. But have no reason to dwell on it. She could and should have just left if it was so bad.
She may have been in denial for some time. Perhaps facing the demons of a past relationship was too painful. You can't assume the accusations are false because they were made 20 years later. My girlfriend was abused as a child by a couple of family associates, and then later on by boyfriends as a young adult. She has only now started discussing the torment 20 years later.
What nonsense!! Mickey is the NICEST of guys, EVER! I met him years ago. He is THE most down to earth sweet guy, without trying to hit on you! Just a genuine nice guy! And I was a model at the time!
