I am a member of an independent Baptist church. We separate membership from baptism. So, you can be a baptized adult that attends but is not a member. A child can be baptized but can't be a member of the church till they are 18. While baptism does not mean you are saved, you should be baptized once saved and that is a separate issue from joining a church as a member. That's our church's practice and I tend to think that makes the most sense.

    "...and that would be troublesome."
Then what do I do after I repent, do right, and trouble comes?

The church father Gregory of Nazianzus said “What has not been assumed [by Christ in the incarnation] has not been healed”
I don’t think these patriarchy guys are right that males and females have entirely different natures.
Jesus had to assume a human nature to heal humans from sin. He became a male human, yet was still able to heal female humans from their fallen state.
In becoming truly human Christ took on the same human nature that both males and females have.
I am wondering if these advocates of patriarchy would find fault with Gregory’s statement.

Christ took on human flesh. In his maleness he was the new "Adam" or new federal head for the children of God.

0:10 as long as we continue to call ourselves Pastor this and Pastor that, we will not get to a place where we are all brethren.

So just got to how Baptists work about voting people out from being at the Lord's table. I do want to say I have never been in a church that did it that way. It has always been from the elders in churches that did church discipline.

Yeah, I can just imagine Jesus in the temple being told by the TPTB that it would be asinine (your words, Mr. Foster) to take him seriously because he was only 12.

The congregation is Messiah is not a democracy... it is a theocracy. This is the way decisions were made in the congregation of Messiah in the first century:
Act 15:6 The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter.
Another way would be to cast lots as in Acts 1:26.
However, voting is not Biblical, it is a cultural invention.

I never see in Acts, the Apostles telling people they will be going to Heaven or Hell when they go to give the good news.

@@retrograd332 of course. Can you give me any examples of the apostles telling people that if they believe In Jesus they will go to heaven and if they don’t they will go to Hell. I just can’t find that example anywhere.

@@r.m.4653 the Apostles tell people they will be saved if they believe in Jesus Christ. If you read their writings (i.e. the New Testament) you observe that their position on salvation is that it is a deliverance from the dominance of sin and the penalty of sin, which is eternal torment under the wrath of God. So when you believe in Jesus Christ you are saved, justified, forgiven, etc. If someone dies that is saved, they will be in the presence of God immediately. This, again, is the clear instruction of the New Testament.

You should baptise severely mentally disabled people on a credible profession of faith, but it's not good for them or the church to expect them to vote on complex decisions. Similar principles apply for children.

@@marge3900 doesn't work. Kevin's argument would be better if he recognized that the mentally disabled adults, like women and children, would be under the authority of a male head of household
