    The pipe what I use in my projects in most cases of 1/4, If you want to use a larger diameter pipe, you must understand that you will not be able to make a small diameter coil. Pipe pieces what I used in the video: 3, 2, 11/2, 11/4. All bends of the coil I make with help of a piece of pipe because without help of a tube the coil breaks down. To unwind the coil you need a flat surface, hold it with one hand and untwist the other. If, during the stretching of the coil, it is stretched out crookedly, just put it on the pipe and squeeze it to make it stand in its original position. I'd love to tell you everything in the video, but I do not speak English, So forgive me.

    To bend larger diameter tube, and or with stiffer walled copper, find some very fine and very dry sand and fill the tube first. Plug both ends securely before filling. Slowly bend the tube around the form. The sand will prohibit kinking. When done simply pour out the sand.

    It works well as its brand new copper for heating pipes so its not aged hardened and its designed to be bent, give it 6 months in the air and it would be be able to be bent like that without annealing first, New copper pipe is great to work with.

    How do you keep the tubing from collapsing?
    I've made home-brewing gear from 1/4" copper tubing, and I wasted over 100' of tubing trying to get it right. Coiling empty tubing, always the tube flattened out, at least partly. Since I was going to be running fluid through the coiled tube, this was unacceptable.
    What I finally had to do was fill the tube with fine sand and solder ends on it, THEN it would coli without collapsing. Then cut the tube, drain the sand, and blow out any stubborn grit with compressed CO2.

      Do not use anything except water, water cannot be compressed. Works every time.

    I know this probably won't ever be seen, but I am trying to make something with my dad and I was just wondering if you think this would work with a slightly larger diameter tube or if it'd collapse and break down. Thanks in advance if anyone sees this.

      Fill tube with sand, block off tube at each end, do same as shown in video, sand will prevent the tube from kinking.

    • @BanjoShow
      @BanjoShow  7 лет назад

      Ну тут два варианта, или брать меньше диаметром трубку (я использую трубу диаметром 1/4), или засыпать песком и запаивать с двух сторон и тогда ее накручивать, но и тогда у неё есть предел диаметра накручивания.

    Why did I make the copper pipe flat?

    • @1powelrainbow2
      @1powelrainbow2 7 лет назад

      did you bend it too "steep"? Since the pipe is hollow, it looses strength when bent or should I say, the hollow part is the weakest part. Make the winding in larger circles or but something inside the tube. I saw one guy that had the same problem but he filled the pipe with water, froze it in the freezer, then he bent it. Problem for you/us is that the length of the tube might not fit inside the freezer. I myself am thinking of placing tons of wires inside the tube before bending, same effect...just make sure you remove the wires before going too far or else they will get stuck...happy bending! :D

    • @aussiemanlyman2138
      @aussiemanlyman2138 7 лет назад +1

      An old pipe fitters method for real pipe was to block one end ( usually with a wooden plug), fill with dry sand (when heated it won't turn to steam inside the pipe if the sand is dry), tapping to help compress sand, then plug other end. When heated with gas torch it allowed the pipe to bend but not collapse on its self as the sand held it's round shape. But that was for large heavy wall steel pipe, but I'm sure the principal would work here too. When finished remove plugs and blow out sand, ready to use for next job. We use to use garnet, what they use to sandblast steel before painting, it was clean and always dry. But any clean sand will do, as long as it doesn't clump together.
