If you're wondering why Pb has a 2+ charge, then read this! Pb has a +2 charge because of the given reactant of Pb(NO3)2. NO3 has a -1 charge since it is the typical polyatomic ion of nitrate and does not change it's charge. Now there is a 2 subscript on the NO3 meaning that to balance this compound out we had to put a 2 subscript because Pb must have started off with a +2 charge. I have a similar example here ➡️ruclips.net/video/nijb6UMvZuE/видео.html

I am cramming for an exam tonight and I have literally gone from 'I'm definitely going to fail' to 'I'm MASTERING this' after just a few of your videos!

My teacher made us watch like 3 twenty minute videos she made and not once did I grasp this but thanks to you I can say with confidence that I am more prepared for my exam tomorrow. Cheers!
I just spent an hour and a half in my chemistry book and didn't have a clue what was going on, and then I came to RUclips and found your video and you completely cleared everything up for me. Thank you for breaking everything down step by step and being detailed with your explanations, along with the note at the end about struggling and being closer than I was to succeeding, I can't thank you enough! :)

I waited till the last second coz Ive never liked chemistry. You make things so clear that I dont mind watching your videos which is absolutely awesome because its hard for me to study chem because I just personally dont like it. Im definitely subbing.

Like the others before me, I am so grateful to have found your channel in the midst of my anxiety over my next chemistry test. Your videos are helping me in an online course and they help to breakdown the information into more simpler terms and steps, as well as ease my anxiety. I appreciate you for helping me pass Chem 1. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This video is a lifesaver in 2021, I've finally reached this unit in my Chem class but our teacher only does examples and never explains them clearly. Glad to know that the internet is still as helpful as ever.
I actually have a really good professor trying to teach me these things but this video just made it click and I audibly said "Ohhhhhh" when it did. I really appreciate how you break it down, thank you!

Lead can have either a +2 or +4 charge in this case it has a +2 charge because Pb(NO3)2 tells us this. Remember NO3 has a -1 charge so the fact that there is a 2 subscript means Pb must have been a +2 charge. We know it is positive because metals have a positive charge.

Thank you SO MUCH! I was so confused on this all term and I've been studying all vacation to try to get ready for the next term. Your video helped tremendously and helped clear a whole term's worth of confusion!

How do we know lead has a +2 charge?
Look for the charges in the periodic table. If a metal is a transition metal, go for the most bolded charge on it.
So it only has a +2 charge in this occasion? Not always..?
Lead can have either a +2 or +4 charge in this case it has a +2 charge because Pb(NO3)2 tells us this. Remember NO3 has a -1 charge so the fact that there is a 2 subscript means Pb must have been a +2 charge. We know it is positive because metals have a positive charge.
