Thanks to Adam and Issy for making a big drive down to bring In these cool harvester boots, that Adam picked up for cheap with the sole intention (no pun intended) of having them upgraded to beefy soles here in the shop!
i had to make my car key probably i will see you next weekend
Buisness idea. IF having customer reactions improves view count, you could reduce the price for those willing to be on camera. Just a thought.
Hey Dan? What weighs less, a gallon of water or a gallon of butane? Butane as it's 'lighter fluid' :D
Don't think I didn't notice, that in the beginning, when you took the laces out, the left boot had an underhand cross, and the right boot...well, I don't know. BUT(!) when you laced them up at the end, the RIGHT boot had the underhand, not the left. Thought I wouldn't see that, eh? Not so fast, pal! Great video, by the way.
So the shoe is ruined 🤣🤣🤣
I am the owner of the boots in the video and I have to say I completely blown away with Dan's skill and workmanship, I couldn't be happier with the final boots
I purchased these Red Wing Harvester boots '2943' cheap off Depop for £80, always with the intention of Dan doing some work on them. They had some nasty scratches on the toe box and I'm not a fan of the mini lug outsole, I find it far to thin for my liking. I know this as I also have some Red Wing Blacksmiths '3343' (basically the 6" version).
These boots are now incredibly comfortable and perfect for walking on any terrain thanks to the leather midsole and new beefy vibram outsole.
Dan has not just repaired these boots he has created something better than even Red Wing could do, a real upgrade.
They are a European only model costing £350 new and are now sadly discontinued. So paying a little bit to have them resoled was definitely worth it, especially when you see how much blinking hard work goes in to it.
Me and my girlfriend have been a fan of your videos for a while now so popping down to your shop was a real treat for us. I even bought her one of your candles.
Oh I need to get some of that Saphir mink oil ordered cos the boots have never felt better.
Thanks Dan, keep up the good work.
such a bargain and now you've got yourself a pair of perfect boots :)
my man, you look like youre straight from the American northwest. when you didnt have an American accent , it caught me off guard for a split second! haha. Nice purchase on the boots, good stuff.
Red Wings are good boots and I love what you have chosen for that pair. I have never used the Saphir products, but mink oil is like magic for leather. Anytime they start to look a little dry, beat up, or feel a little firm; apply a little to bring them back to life.
Hi mate. How much did this service cost?
@@mra9953 I paid Dan £150 and I'm very happy with the work. Also the saphir mink oil is worth the extra few quid. It's good enough to eat, almost.
Dan, I probably speak for most viewers/subscribers when I say you’re busy for a reason and I am just grateful for whatever you are able to upload. Don’t stress over a quota. There are always reruns on demand. 😉
Cheers.
I'm in my 40's... I now want to become a Cobbler. There's a joy to working with ones hands, you make this seem effortless!

I’d love to see you do a video with Tom Scott one day, teaching him some repairing/cobbling basics for his Plus channel (where he learns a skill in a day with a guest)! 💕
I really like watching a professional apply their skills and man you've got some super skills. Thanks for showing us what's what in your awesome business!! Had to say those boots are now better than new.
I’m here for the forearms.
I mean the craftsmanship.
Those Redwing boots do look much nicer with the thicker soles. [also, the 'shoe display' on the ceiling beam looks great--very artistic!]
The round knife that trims the excess off of the midsole is quite satisfying to see in action. I think so. Quite the brilliant job on the boots. A Redwing shoe is well worth restoring.
my favourite part as well
Haha you got me with the "obviously now the show is ruined" made me lol
I was over at my Sweetie's for a date night and we discovered we both have been watching your videos . Thanks for being so fascinating for Both of us.
Yes, yes, yessss, I was waiting for the nail on the floor 🤣
The Force will be with you, always.
Always good to chill out to your vids
I love seeing these old trades in action!! You're very talented!!
I live in Southern California. Getting your “Boot Stretched” has a whole new meaning over here and is something you really don’t want to share with immediate family, especially your Father . It’s big in West Hollywood and San Francisco . Especially during Folsom Street Fair .
The new Cobbler candle is amazing. I urge you to purchase one. Great customer service. Couldn't believe how quickly it arrived. Thanks Dan. Xx
Thank you so much! Great to have feedback!
@@Dan_the_cobbler My pleasure Sir. Xx
The new beefy sole made them look much better
Dan, I live in Miami FL, and watch your video's as often as they come on, if I lived back in the UK, I would only get my footwear done by you as you are a perfectionist. PLEAS keep up your good work.
Thanks for sharing. I've been binge watching all your content. I'm a little bit over halfway done. Your skills, humor, music, and editing are the perfect combination.
Thanks appreciate that!
Dan, we seriously love you man! Grateful for ya!
I love your positivity, your humor and your videos. They help me sleep at night. I hope you make them forever.
It's so wonderful to see that, in our highly disposable world, high-quality goods meant to last are still being made and there are still folks who have the skills and experience needed to keep those goods at their finest. Oh, how I wish you were a bit closer to the US! Magnificent work, sir, carry on!
Another one! Great job making those boots look stout Dan!
When you put the laces back on the boots at the end, you laced the boots differently through the second eyelet.
Just watched the video and noticed that myself ! Is it a catch out ?
Not sure how I got here but so glad I clicked because this is an awesome video. I love restoring videos and your workmanship is exceptional. Can't wait to watch more. 😍
Dad Joke Level = Boss
Dad joke level = Dan
Always a pleasure watching you work!
I likes the Bedos reference with the laces.
Awesome. More customer reveal please
I really appreciate you taking some time during your video to talk about getting some Sun. Such a good thing to hear. Thank you!!!!
Stumbled across these videos today and they’re quite fascinating and satisfying to watch like ASMR
So glad to hear the 'glue music'!
You practice a wonderful art and craft that goes way back. I enjoy watching the work you do; the skill and art that you put into each pair of shoes.
Those shoes for display look awesome. The work on them looked amazing and it would also be cool to get ideas for your work by looking at some of the cool things you can do.
Guess you can pick stitches outside as well inside as outside. Clever solution ! New soles really improve the silhouette of the boots. The dye on the top did wonderful job too, wonderful how that touched up. 10:53 - yay, cork !
3:29 My workboots started squeaking about 2 months ago, and I couldn't figure out why, thanks for solving that mystery Dan!
I love your repair videos Dan. Please don't let the water run when you're soaping the boots. I died a little inside.
Good to see you Dan and glad that life is good and busy🥰 Tring is lucky to have such a good cobbler❗️and funny too 😅
That cleaning agent you use makes them look so rejuvenated then you add the conditioner and it's like better than new. I was looking at your shop prices last night, and I am thinking I'm going to need to order some for myself and my leather boots.
Nicely done, Dan. I should say he drove a ways. 150 km as the crow flies, probably closer to 300-350. But then, when you find a pro that does great work, distance doesn't mean that much.
I was in Hertford for a family do that weekend, so only really about 64 miles round trip. 😉
@@mrwhite6680 To Tring? Really? From Manchester? While I admit I am not from England, Hertford is not Manchester.
We caught that impression of "Steve from Bedo's Leatherworks".
Another one well done. Keep up the outstanding work. Thank you for sharing your skills.
A true Englander. Sun’s out, so are you! The next time I’m in England I’ll make a trip to your shop a priority.
Who would ever think I’d get so much enjoyment from watching a pair of boots being resoled?
Heel nail: floor, floor, floor, bench, bench....intentional drop. Awesome.
4:12 real Steve moment! :-D
How long have you been doing this my friend? You are very talented with your craft. You bring the shoes that were older looking, back to life 🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳🎉🥳 They end up looking Beautiful. Hugs from Anaheim California USA 🇺🇸
looking forward to your next RM Williams repair, i've loved and owned many pairs of their boots, i've still got my old black cuban heel square toe Santa fe boots. cheers from oz
Super job again. You’re so skilled and engaging. I appreciate the time it takes for you to make them to keep us all entertained. Thanks 🙏
Whenever i see a video about Red Wings i tell myself; i want a pair.
Amazing job, Dan!
Some say the tap is still running to this day lol 🤣 Always a good day when a Dan the Cobbler video lands! 😊
I am super critical of this repair
Oh why? I'm very happy with them.
Good to see you back, don’t stress over not making vids you get to them when you can, the display looks great!!!
Dude, YOU ARE GREAT! It is wonderful to watch you work and to see the love and dedication that you have for the cobbler profession! (ART) - Your shop looks wonderful and I just marvel at how well equipt you are and how decked out it is with tools and the amenities that make it look like a comfortable place to work! - Thank you so much for sharing your art, I really enjoy watching!
Running tap running tap RUNNING TAP! That being said, love watching you xx
Yay!! A new Dan video 😊😊
I still wish I could become a cobbler, but I have no idea how or where to get started.
I guess I have to make do by watching my favorite Master Cobbler, Dan!
CHEERS!!!
Go to a local cobbler (with a good reputation) and ask if they do apprenticeships?
@@andersjjensen
Anders, I live in such a small town, we don’t have a local cobbler.
@@andersjjensen
We don’t have cobblers in my little mountain township.
@@jmatt4life Ouch... I don't know about your country, but where I live the only option is apprenticeship, as even the tech collages have "deprecated" this craft. If that's the case you're SOL if you don't want to relocate...
Your apron looks just like Trenton & Heaths! 😁
Amazing job as always Dan!
BRILLIANT!!!!
Great work Dan 👍
Love your videos, and the shoe display. Thanks for the hard work and taking us along for the ride. 👍🙏
nice 1 dan good job as all ways
Great work!!!!!
Always a pleasure to watch a master at work!:)
Nice work on the boots.
Dan, buddy, always one button the polo. It looks much better.
I think discussing what it’s like to have a Challenger in the UK is way more interesting than anything that happens in a gym. I have a 6sp Porsche Cayenne. In the US manual Cayennes are rare.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Always good to watch your videos Dan , it's plain to see you enjoy your work and the quality of it shines through .
yay a new video hope we get more soon dan!
Love those boots…
Such a great video, thank you!
ONE OF A KIND PAIR !! :) PURE BEAUTY
Just got a pair of these off of eBay, so excited!
Congrats!
Did you get a good deal?
@@mrwhite6680 I think? $215. Oxblood color and lots of life left on them. Looked well taken care of. Should be getting them tomorrow, so crossing my fingers!

Top Gun 2 was great!!! Another fun and great video, glad to catch up with you :) Sad about the Val Kilmer story though
Excellent work.
Excellent work. Boots are looking great.
Don't mind the critics - appreciate the nod to getting outside and keeping perspective.
