I have the beige/champagne 38mm SRPK and it is an underrated watch overshadowed by the overrrated teal/not teal dial. The black/gunmetal hands and indices and the sunburst (yes it is a sunburst) dial make it much more appealing in person.
I've just got my Seiko 6139 pepsi pogue, back from service and I've got it on a rubber strap, Marc have you had any thoughts of doing some of your rubber straps for the pogue, like the ones that fitted to the titanium watch....??
It's worth noting that the new 38mm 5XK watches don't have the same dimensions as the SKX013 - they're 12.1mm instead of 13.5 for the SKX013, which a lot of smaller-wristed folks thought were too top-heavy. I have the SRPK29, and it's very wearable on my 6.25 inch wrist.
Hi Marc, i love the seiko two tone brown dia+ All gold blue dial is gorgeous!!! How does Seiko achieve that gold tone if it's actually steel?? Is the gold color gonna fade out over time?? Thank you
The small watches fit you fine as well, you're just used to wearing the larger sizes and seeing them on wrist. If you wore the smaller ones for a while you'd see they are actually more proportional to your wrist size.
@@islandwatch You're welcome, I've been wearing the Seagull '63 daily and then bought the Casio Duro the other day and it looks too big to me when I wear it. So I'm getting the opposite effect with a 7 1/2" wrist, haha!
I’ve always be sceptical about Seiko after watching many reviews but I had a blueberry gmt bought for me and I was dead impressed, can’t fault the watch for finish, quality, wearability and worth every penny. They are for the masses and mass produced but the quality control is second to none
Just purchased the turtle from you… Damn you Long Island… tempting me into another seiko purchase… how could I not though seeing as it’s a model not available in the uk! Can’t wait and thank you!!
I have an almost 8 inch wrist, but I'm really pleased that the day of the 45mm watch is passing. Even on my wrist, the big (now old-fashioned) watches hang over the sides, catch on sleeves, bang into doorframes, and just generally say "Look at me!" I'm wearing a 36mm watch as I type, and it looks just fine.
I know that Seiko is a profit and money maker, but after looking at all of these. I'd buy an Islander over any of them every day of the week. you offer more for nearly equal pricing. And I would support an independant shop that makes such a great product. I have my Islander Polar monster and it's one of my best watches.
I was thinking the same thing. I've got 2 Islanders, and I think I've been spoiled by them. Better water resistance, screwdown crown, sapphire crystal, better bracelet construction. The specs on these Seikos just aren't good enough for informed watch enthusiasts. Probably okay for the general public though.
These bracelets on the new Seiko 5s have the same problem that my old Seiko 5's have which are only two micro-adjustments. So only one adjustment really. If I pull out a link it is too small, if I leave the link in, the one adjustment is still too big so I can't get a good fit so I had to replace the bracelets and at the time the older Seiko 5s were about 80 to 100 dollars and was not a big deal but these new ones are over 300 USD so that is a big difference. I think your house brand is a better value in the 38mm in the dive watches plus they have Sapphire crystal and 100x better bracelets. and I hate hardlex as they scratch and can't be buffed out.
Glad they've dumped the B dial aviator numbering on the field watch for the traditional field watch, but man, I really wish they'd dump the day/date windows for these. Domed crystal is cool though! And perfect sizing.
All-righty: The "5KX" and bluesy Turtle numbers are nice, although I've scratched that collective itch by getting a 5 Sports GMT "Batman" from you a few months back (once again, thanks for getting it out to me crazy-fast as usual). But, that green-dial 36mm...ouch, that's *seriously* nice. If I didn't already have my 017 Alpinist (also bought from you just before Seiko pulled the plug on the whole SARB line), I be on this watch *stat* (and I won't rule out getting one at some point anyway). Thanks for showing this one!
4:46 I saw that model an hour ago in a boutique, I think it's the best looking one, with the orange being pretty cool. The seller told me he would not give me any discount, any time of the year, because he was tired of Seiko ( France ) calling them everytime they do a discount 😂 at least that was clear. I don't know if it's true or if he's just tired of B2C in general, but he seemed genuine.
I really like big watches, but even these SNK809 replacements can wear much bigger when worn on a bunt strap. I especially like the tan face and strap 👍🏻
I wish the orange dial SRPK had black hands. Not keen on those pinky colour ones, they don't look good against the orange to me. Shame otherwise I'd pick one up.
Why can't Seiko make a non date watch ? They go other other direction and add the day of the week. Why not the month & year too ? For me the calendar is for month, day & year. The time of day is for the watch.
He Marc, maybe Seiko is late to give you new releases because your own brand Islander just blows them out of the water in terms of specs and price. Just a suspicion...
Where are the "new" seiko watches? I only see watches that were on the market years...maybe new for your shop, every single watch you showed here where in the video, was in my local shop for more than 3 years...
Ok I’ll guess I’ll buy another seiko !
Good plan!
Thanks, Mark! I wasn’t aware that Seiko made a smaller version of last year’s srpg. I’ve officially found my next watch 😁
👍🏻 enjoy!
Seiko field watch at 36mm with a handwind/hacking movement - finally! Great looking dials - especially the green.
Thank you

Yes 36mm is best size, its impossible to obstruct any movement.
I’ve always be sceptical about Seiko after watching many reviews but I had a blueberry gmt bought for me and I was dead impressed, can’t fault the watch for finish, quality, wearability and worth every penny. They are for the masses and mass produced but the quality control is second to none
Glad to hear it, Paul.
Finally a proper field watch from Seiko in 36mm.

Wow the SRPJ87 looks great! Hope I can pick one up from you soon!
Love the green 36mm ❤❤
Awesome Marc, do you know if you’ll be getting any stock of the SRPK17 seiko The 6106 8120 seiko sports from 1968?
Nice this is the first video I have seen of the. New ones!
Beautiful watch and functional
Wowsers. Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for watching!

Love those 36mm field watches!
I think they will be a hit.
It's too bad they can't seem to get them a bit thinner like the old SNK809. Newer Seiko movements are kinda chunky.
@@Strideo1 Which is why I won’t buy the new Alpinist. Have my eye on a Certina 38mm DS diver instead.
What is the Orient you're wearing and is it available?
I think the SRPJ81 on the bracelet might be the cheapest explorer 1 type watch you can buy without going the homage route
I can see why the 5 in green/blue is back-ordered - it looks really great.
Yeah, it's a great color.
That seiko "Khaki Field" is killing meeee.
Glad they've dumped the B dial aviator numbering on the field watch for the traditional field watch, but man, I really wish they'd dump the day/date windows for these. Domed crystal is cool though! And perfect sizing.

Marc is spell casting again. Off to consume more Seikos
Hi Mark thanks for the update! Do you know off hand if your Islander skx013 bracelets fit the new 38mm seikos?
They will not.
I wonder if Seiko will release a 36mm dresskx given the smaller 5kx
Any recommendations for upgrading the bracelets for the 5kx?
Strapcode has two

Thanks so much for checking it out
I like the ivory-champagne pilot’s one 👌🏼
Sweet! And a great size.
Really like the 43 turtle. 🤔
I really dig that 36 on the bracelet
Great 😃
Have they discontinued SRP775? Black and Gold was a beautiful combo
Yeah. Years back.
4:46 I saw that model an hour ago in a boutique, I think it's the best looking one, with the orange being pretty cool.

Sounds about right
These viseos are really needed
I own a few Seiko’s including the PADI Turtle but they’re killing us with the hardlex
Sorry 😔
I really like big watches, but even these SNK809 replacements can wear much bigger when worn on a bunt strap. I especially like the tan face and strap 👍🏻

We watch it for your yapping.. 🧐😉
Yes
Wait, if you change the date at the wrong time you can break the watch?!
Beautiful watch.
*watches !!!
@@islandwatch yes, indeed.

Thanks for watching
My three favorite watch brands are Omega, Zodiak and Seiko.
Sweet. I'm a fan as well.
4:39 why so they need 120 clicks? Just for the fun noise?
8:07 real gold electroplate?
Gold tone.
@@islandwatch but does Gold Tone have any actual gold, no matter how minimal?
Or is it like wood-tone sides on a 1970s clock radio. Or pleather.
SRPD53 looks pretty cool Pepsi bezel @6:30
Yeah, shame it was an exclusive to Amazon for so long.
Somehow these new Seikos look like gimmicks to me. For around 300€ I got a beautiful SEIKO Lord Matic directly from Japan. Such a classic beauty! ❤
Why can't Seiko make a non date watch ? They go other other direction and add the day of the week. Why not the month & year too ? For me the calendar is for month, day & year. The time of day is for the watch.

Your recent all gold Islander looks much better than the Seiko 👍🏻
haha, thanks Richard.
that is a nice watch.
Thank you
still waiting to hear from your watch repair department please advise
I like the light colored dial in the first group. The gold ones not so much although the blue dial one’s not bad. Thanks Marc. Have a great day!
Thanks, same to you.
Oof those all gold Seiko look hideous. I can live with a gold case but that bracelet has got go. 😂
Finally a two tone 5kx,thank you seiko
Took long enough.
I have too many seikos… one more won’t do anything ;)
😂
If anybody was wondering, 20 min. is how long you stay underwater on a typical sport dive. Hence the blue is 20 min. 👾yep, captain obvious here... lol
I'm fairly certain the SRPD43 has a sapphire crystal, not hardlex
It’s really disgraceful that Seiko continues to make $400 divers w/o sapphire. Beautiful watches though.
Thanks for checking it out
Seiko = Japan = From Midgets = To Sumo Wrestlers 😁
Just got the citizen unite with blue promaster.
That iridescent dial and perfect alignment makes Seiko look like amateur watches.
LOL. Well, enjoy.
Отл! Спасибо! 👋🇷🇺
:)
Seiko is too overpriced these days.
Noted
Arm Crack
😂
What is the point of this video? You make the same model watches but better. If I was going to spend that much money I would rather get an Islander.
LOL. But when I show Seiko, many more people watch it.
He still needs to sell his inventory doesn’t he? I think the point is obvious when he owns a watch store that sells watches other than Islanders.
Mark, Are you ok?You look very thin?
Looks normal to me, I’ve been watching him for years
Sound like a mom lol but it’s real nice of you to ask him
I did lose some weight, but that was about a year ago.
@@islandwatch I’m glad you’re healthy
