Ali, this is way late, but for the moss problem, maybe use the hardwood ash from your fireplace to spread on the grass. It will raise the soil pH, which Moss doesn't like. I saw some owl🦉 statuary at the Garden Center you visited, and since you like owls 🦉, they might scare the pheasants away, that or Porter. You're a pleasure too watch.
Ali, after planting and raking/burying the grass seed in the soil you always put down a rather generous layer of HAY over the seed. REMEMBER! Birds are visual animals, and they get attracted to any visible food particles such as seed in the lawn. When sowing the grass seed, rake the seed, so it's buried or covered by the topsoil. Distracting them is not the answer because once they devour the distraction meal they will revisit and devour the all you can eat grass seed buffet.
Really love your videos, Ali! You are so intelligent and nice! The way you explain everything, I just love watching these videos....educational in a way!!!!
Ali, your videos explaining and talking through your workouts really help my husband, he's trying to build strength in his back again after a lorry accident many years ago, and he just finds the way you talk through things so helpful 👏
Not sure wether somebody recommended this already in the comments, but a tip for next year: sow your seeds later when the temperatures are higher. The seeds will germinate and be "birdsafe" much quicker, rather then lying around on the cold ground doing nothing for weeks. Lovely video as usual by the way, thanks Ali :)
Awww...the panic blinking..I felt for you there. I loved your house before, but I also love the direction it's headed now. It has that warm, rustic, country home vibe.
Worked all day in my garden. Got the blackberrys all cleaned up the raspberries as well. Trans planted so strawberry’s. Most of my in door garden starts are up in two week should be ready for the cold frame. It is so exciting to see spring come. Cheers🥂
Hi Ali, have you thought of using Greenthumb, they look after your lawn with various treatments throughout the year. Made such a difference to our lawn. They price it up buy square meters. I have a tiny lawn compared to yours and have been using them for a few years and it's made a huge difference. It's greener and has no more moss. Good luck x
Hi Ali cutting grass to short encourages moss too! my husband loves his garden so just asked him , he always uses the lawn raker and lawn feed with moss killer you were originally thinking about.
Hello Ali, my OCD with your shed 😬 good choice for the moss reducing lawn feed, also my fight with moss, was to de-thatch each year, and a good aeration bi-annually, along with good fertilizer, and an automatic sprinkler system... all that (even though it sounds a lot) has almost eliminated my moss problem, hope this may give you a little help, if you can't get aeration done in GB, walk around a lot with your golf cleats on, stabbing the lawn with a fork as you go. Good Luck 💚🍁
Always worthy trying Mo Bacter for the moss if the other stuff doesn't work. Not sure how friendly it is for pets, but works. We love it even thoughit is smelly! 😅
I really liked your "before" kitchen! especially the lights above the center island. I think the new lights are a little bit small and almost get lost up there. also there is too much green now for my taste :( but as long as you both like it, that's the most important thing. nevertheless we will see a complete make-over in a year from now :D
That was my exact thought 💭 overall new kitchen is quite nice, however you can’t see a big difference at least on camera. But the central island lights are too dim as well as the lighting of the kitchen on the whole(( I’m not sure makeover was worth it all🤔
I was recently reading up on spring yard clean up as spring is creeping in here. I always get out and clean mine as early as possible. I was surprised to read this year that amongst the leaves and debris is where all the beneficial insects are nesting and to clean up too early destroys them. I’m going to try to delay clean up a couple of weeks this year, as much as it pains me to look at the mess 😂
( Maureen )Thank you for thinking about the hedgehogs and other insects ,this is exactly what I do in my garden of course it is messy and my French neighbors laugh at me , but I don’t care I have the pleasure of seeing hedgehogs wandering in my garden , keep up the good work . Bonsoir à vous de la Charente Maritime .
I’m just going to say that what you said about Monday training is brilliant, don’t know why I haven’t thought of that. I always start Monday with lower body as that’s what my plan says, but it takes me much longer than upper and it’s much harder so often I procrastinate for ages before I start or skip it completely 🙈 I’m definitely going to change my routine, great advice. Thank you 🙏☺️
Have you considered investing in a sprinkler system for your garden? We’ve had one for years and it’s brilliant. Don’t forget to air-rate your lawn. xx
Do you have a leaf blower? They are absolutely fantastic and make the job of clearing leaves and mess so quick.I use mine all the time and even just for a general blast on the patio if there’s any debris and also horrible cobwebs in my garden shed! Mine is a Stihl and has a removable rechargeable battery. The greenhouse looks amazing by the way.
Absolutely stunning kitchen, loving the colour, floor, etc, it really has warmed up the space look forward to the finished rooms in the rest of your home, which is beyond beautifull, i think sheds have a habit of getting messy, it really bugs me too you tidy and next thing its a mess again, keeps up busy for sure, one thing i find good is storage, and hooks or nails to hang things on the wall keeps them of the floor, another great video, and i am loving all the home updates xx
The scarecrows are pretty useless I think! You should try cover the lawn seed with some soil. If the pheasants cannot see the seeds they will not be attracted in your garden! I love that time of the year that is still cold outside (I hate the warm summer days) but the preparations in the garden are on! Have you ever tried Tamagoyaki? It’s a Japanese style omelette and it’s D E L I C I O U S It’s pretty easy to make it at home too!
You two must have been the best-dressed couple at the garden center. It's wonderful watching you two experiment and learn how garden. You could consider joining a gardening group or gardening society. The kitchen looks lovely - magazine quality. And kinda shocked you both don't want a gas stove. Cooking on gas is amazing.
Two gorgeous ball trees 🌳 🌳 where you milk containers just out the back entrance would look beautiful in two big pots. It looks a little plain and those silver cans do nothing you need height under the gorgeous lights on your outdoor patio because it’s such a beautiful space but it needs some greenery just suggesting. Similar to your orange trees 🌳 down stairs?
@@AliGordon Not to worry Ali! We've been doing the same and recently bought dried worms. We're trying to give options 😂 Oh and we've got two babies in a nest, so worth it!
Hi, am not an expert on grass but we have the same moss problems around here. If I were you after this treatment I would hire a scarifier, clear the grass and then possibly do the treatment again. They do say the trick to get great grass is to mow it everyday. Not something that I would do but it definitely works.😁🌱
I have light grout and love it. I have it cleaned professionally and in between I clean small spots with grout cleaner and a Bryce. It is worth it to me.
I always train the easily pumped muscles on Monday bc it makes me feel better aka boosts my ego haha so that's upper body. But I train everything twice a week, not just once. I mean this in a nice way so you don't hurt your back after being away from the squat rack for so long - slow the squat down and tuck your chin... I got back pains after lockdown when I wasn't paying attention enough to that.
I'm so in to this lifestyle you have, loving all the home decor, that floor is incredible, and so enjoying the garden content, you are both smashing it 👌🏻
Unless you like raking, try using a blower to blow the leaves towards your desired location. Easier on the hands and quicker. Enjoy your and Lyds. videos.
I have no clue what exactly they’re called but I saw another youtuber’s husband had a leaf blower that also sucked up leaves! I know you said you have a leaf blower but might be worth checking into to save yourself some time in the yard

I guess Lumi has no interest in catching it? My cat ( one of six) can’t get enough of the little things and brings them in if I don’t watch carefully, No, don’t beat yourself up about not using your voucher! Happens to everyone! Just make a list for next time you go and clip the voucher to it. Once the list is complete, put it in the car you use when you go. When you take your list into the garden center, you will have it in hand! Best wishes.
How are you feeling. I remember in one of the other videos you mentioned you had some tests done and you had high stress. Honestly, you don't look well, pale and dark under your eyes. Please take care of your overall wellness.
Sorry Ali, but I think your idea of putting different seed out for the pheasants to distract them from your grass seed is one of your silliest ones yet!! 😂😂😂 I think what will happen is you will encourage them back! I saw the hay comment, which is a better suggestion, but that will end up spreading less desirable grass seed (from the hay). Similar idea is to spread some pea straw over top. The best idea though would be to peg out some string or netting so they can’t walk over it. Perhaps attach some tin foil to the string to deter them (??) Good luck!!
@@AliGordon You are SO right!! Most of us have the privilege of making mistakes without tens of thousands of people watching! LOL. Sometimes the faff is worth it though...(think back to the digger! LOL) xx

You have nothing to lose by spray painting the outlet covers with an antique brass or bronze, whatever you're going for, until you can replace them.
Good idea.
