    Ali, this is way late, but for the moss problem, maybe use the hardwood ash from your fireplace to spread on the grass. It will raise the soil pH, which Moss doesn't like. I saw some owl🦉 statuary at the Garden Center you visited, and since you like owls 🦉, they might scare the pheasants away, that or Porter. You're a pleasure too watch.

    Ali, after planting and raking/burying the grass seed in the soil you always put down a rather generous layer of HAY over the seed. REMEMBER! Birds are visual animals, and they get attracted to any visible food particles such as seed in the lawn. When sowing the grass seed, rake the seed, so it's buried or covered by the topsoil. Distracting them is not the answer because once they devour the distraction meal they will revisit and devour the all you can eat grass seed buffet.

    Not sure wether somebody recommended this already in the comments, but a tip for next year: sow your seeds later when the temperatures are higher. The seeds will germinate and be "birdsafe" much quicker, rather then lying around on the cold ground doing nothing for weeks.
    Lovely video as usual by the way, thanks Ali :)

    You have nothing to lose by spray painting the outlet covers with an antique brass or bronze, whatever you're going for, until you can replace them.

    Hi Ali, have you thought of using Greenthumb, they look after your lawn with various treatments throughout the year. Made such a difference to our lawn. They price it up buy square meters. I have a tiny lawn compared to yours and have been using them for a few years and it's made a huge difference. It's greener and has no more moss. Good luck x

    Hello Ali, my OCD with your shed 😬 good choice for the moss reducing lawn feed, also my fight with moss, was to de-thatch each year, and a good aeration bi-annually, along with good fertilizer, and an automatic sprinkler system... all that (even though it sounds a lot)
    has almost eliminated my moss problem, hope this may give you a little help, if you can't get aeration done in GB, walk around a lot with your golf cleats on, stabbing the lawn with a fork as you go. Good Luck 💚🍁

    I really liked your "before" kitchen! especially the lights above the center island. I think the new lights are a little bit small and almost get lost up there. also there is too much green now for my taste :( but as long as you both like it, that's the most important thing. nevertheless we will see a complete make-over in a year from now :D

    • @UEkaterina
      @UEkaterina 3 года назад

      That was my exact thought 💭 overall new kitchen is quite nice, however you can’t see a big difference at least on camera. But the central island lights are too dim as well as the lighting of the kitchen on the whole(( I’m not sure makeover was worth it all🤔

    I was recently reading up on spring yard clean up as spring is creeping in here. I always get out and clean mine as early as possible. I was surprised to read this year that amongst the leaves and debris is where all the beneficial insects are nesting and to clean up too early destroys them. I’m going to try to delay clean up a couple of weeks this year, as much as it pains me to look at the mess 😂

    You should try cover the lawn seed with some soil. If the pheasants cannot see the seeds they will not be attracted in your garden!
    I love that time of the year that is still cold outside (I hate the warm summer days) but the preparations in the garden are on!

    Sorry Ali, but I think your idea of putting different seed out for the pheasants to distract them from your grass seed is one of your silliest ones yet!! 😂😂😂 I think what will happen is you will encourage them back! I saw the hay comment, which is a better suggestion, but that will end up spreading less desirable grass seed (from the hay). Similar idea is to spread some pea straw over top. The best idea though would be to peg out some string or netting so they can’t walk over it. Perhaps attach some tin foil to the string to deter them (??) Good luck!!

    I know this will sound like a lot but I would be tempted to take up all the grass , throw it away and relay the soil underneath - find out what the best soil and layering for grass is (gravel first then soil etc) and get some grass to lay it over. That grass as you have it looks too far gone however give it a good go, I do hope you are successful but you might be chucking lots of money and chemicals on that lawn for a while!
