Seth is too old to be mountain biking. He is definitely over 40 and probably pushing 50. Everything is slower and more fragile. This is at least the 2nd time an injury has taken him out entirely in the last 6 months!
@@tarstarkusz What are you on about? There's no way he's pushing 50 and even if he was, I see no reason how that would keep him from smashing. Age is just a number if you're healthy and not an idiot pushing your luck too often (that applies to all age groups).

Man, last friday I watched your video about the crash. I had never had a broken bone, so I couldn't really relate to your frustration. The following day a friend of mine told me to have a ride on a new pumptrack that had just been inaugurated near my city. It was my first time on a pumptrack and I was having A LOT of fun. Everything was perfect until my friend told me that we should be going back home. Then I told him that I was going for a last lap and yeah... I crashed. I tried to send a double and the result was exactly like yours. I didn't feel much pain as I got up, but when one of my friends asked me where was I hit, I just remembered your video that I had seen the day before. While I was saying "I think that I hit my shoulder" I rose my right hand towards my left collarbone (having in mind what happened to you) and BOOM: I could feel my snapped bone trying to exit the skin. Good thing is that I was so angry and worried that I felt almost no pain. I have an outdoor channel and I study PE at university so this was really a serious problem for me and that was all I was thinking about at the moment. Right know I can't attend classes, I can't record or edit videos (It is really uncomfortable for me to stay more than 30 mins in a posture that isn't laying down) and I can't do almost any of my hobbies. Next Monday I would be having surgery (it was a complicated fracture so It just wasn't going to heal by itself) and I am going insane because all the inactivity I am having these days. Sorry for the long text but I just wanted to share my feelings about this matter now that I see that we are going more or less through the same luck. Only thing I ask for is not to miss all the snowboarding seasson 😀 Will try to put into practice the tips you show us in this video in order not to lose all my well-being. Thank you for your amazing and educative content. You got me into MTB two years ago when I first discovered your channel!

I am not currently injured, but on may 4 of this year, I broke my left wrist, fractured my radius and I was unable to ride for four weeks. I noticed that you had broke your left wrist at the same time, so I watched what you did, and it actually made me feel a lot better, because I broke my wrist on a very small double and felt like an idiot. But what you said in that video helped very much, "it happens to everyone" I also broke a tooth on my cassette of my 2009 Kona Four, but that's not important. But thanks

Just got a bike not too long ago, and was enjoying it greatly. Unfortunately, I'm now in the exact position you were in back in November. I was riding in a straight line when my chain decided to come off and get stuck in the wheel... Ate grass, then realized it was time to go to the hospital. Knowing that my influence for getting into MTB had endured the same thing as me really helps with the motivation to get better. Thanks for the video, Seth! Still manage to always make it out to watch my friends and wife ride. Whether its bringing a wheelchair to in indoor bike park, cooking lunch in a bike park parking lot or hiking through the trails getting shots, I love being part of the action when I'm injured! Keeps me motivated and ready to get back in the saddle!
I hope you get better and back on the trails, remember not to rush back into it and take some time. You have been a huge inspiration to me and have helped me improve as a rider and to even learn some life lessons. Thank you for your inspiration and hope you get well.
This is great. I just separated my shoulder in a crash and ER doc said to expect 8-10 weeks recovery. I even have the same sling as you. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
I feel your pain. Couple years ago, just got back into mtb’ing, then not even a month in had heavy fall, heard my collarbone go, and broke 4 ribs as well. Couldn’t sleep in a bed for about 8 weeks. I remember so wanting to get back on bike, and watching your RUclips vids. Get well soon dude
Thanks for sharing,Seth! I was getting down on myself for my crash 3 days ago on Thanksgiving : broken collar bone, broken ribs and punctured lung ...until I saw you in the sling! Made me feel oddly accomplished lol.

Thank you a Seth - I needed to hear this after being off my bike for the last 6 weeks after an injury. 4 more weeks to go and I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Broke my Clavicle into 7 pieces a month ago, thus far I have; serviced all the bearings, the derrailleur, degreased and regreased everything, fitted a new oval chainring, new grips and I'm planning on doing the brakes this weekend. My cat loves me more than ever though, so every cloud and all that!? EDIT: Also we're not allowed to Drive here in the UK post collar bone break so I've been housebound for a month...
Hey Seth, you're exactly right about rushing back in after healing up. I sprained my right AC Joint after getting bucked on a landing. After I healed, I literally did the same thing to my left AC on the same jump trying to get a little redemption. I'm still trying to rehab it a year later. Keep the vids coming.
I'm just over the three week mark with a fully broken rib from a crash at Duthie. My wife is a runner and talked me into following her on a short 4 mile run with the dogs while I was on my mountain bike on a paved running trail that goes through the woods near our house and is surrounded by a some mountain biking trails. That was actually really fun to ride with them and get out of the house. Bike is fully end of season serviced and sparkly and bike and me needed to get out. Was a nice sanity release. I hope you heal well, Seth! I had a broken collar bone when I was much younger and everything was painful, especially getting into and out of bed.
Also a really good way to get reinjured and lose more time. But I'm assuming you are young or at least hoping. Now that I'm past my 20s and have several sports injuries, I can say be careful and age catches up quick.
Watching this after snapping my radius and ulna in half, fracturing my growth plate, dislocating my wrist, and needing surgery to get my bone back into place and this helped me find some ways to be productive
MTB Shredder haha. I get so jealous when I see people out with their dogs tailing at their back wheel, never missing a beat. Still love mine, but hes not cut out for mountain biking.
Seth, I just wanted to write and say Thank You for everything you do. I'm an old BMX fart that has had an interest in mountain biking for a while now. Because of your videos and info I have finally bought my first MTB and feel that from what I've learned from watching your vids and others alike, I feel like I made a great decision and found a bike that is just right for me at this time. I just picked up a Specialized Fuse comp 6fattie and got an incredible deal on it. I feel this bike will be an awesome gateway bike for me to start out on and I like the idea of having a snappy hardtail to go out and thrash on with no regrets. I would not have even known what to look for and/or what to even consider buying until watching some of your vids and learning So Much about these bikes which greatly influenced my decision. You've helped me out a great deal and I would imagine millions of others as well. I just wanted to write and say Thank you.
Dude, you are amazing at making content. Regardless of whether it's about actually mountain biking, or so obscurely related to mountain biking that even YOU need to remind the viewer how it's about mountain biking, all of the content that you make is entertaining. Keep it up man!
Great video. I am currently recovering from a broken shoulder caused by my inability to bunny hop a curb in the trail head parking lot. Never felt quite so idiotic in my life. The downtime has been driving me crazy. Thanks to this video I now have a couple of ideas to keep me busy. Helmet demolition this afternoon. Cheers!
Nearing the end of the recovery period from a Grade 5 ac separation and this video is on point! Did most of the things you touched on. On my many hikes I saw lots of bonus lines and features I missed while riding by at speed. Heal well!
Around 6 years ago I jumped my scooter’s handles. I went full speed down a 45 degree hill and hit a sewer. It’s a wonder I only came out with a bleeding and twisted ankle.
The reason he broke it is so that someone doesn't use it. If he gives a way the helmet, some ppl might keep it but if someone different gets it, they might wear its
All your videos are brilliant and inspirational. You,like a lot of us do not have a huge amount of luck where injuries are concerned but an here’s the big but.... you gotta protect ur self better. I ride at trails centres and bike parks every weekend with armour after puncturing my spleen and splitting my kidney. I know most people will say it’s too hot for armour or it restricts your movements but not as much as movements are restricted when you have tube coming out of you and they’re changing your blood every three hours! Thanks again for the great content you put out for us an get well soon Sir Seth Mate!!
Hey Seth, I feel your pain! I fractured upper arm with my bike and needed about 3 months to heal it properly. Wish you speedy recovery and always love your videos!
I totally know what you're talking about in this video. I just got out of an injury that I got because of NOT taking it easy after healing from a surgery. I my case ripped groin muscles. This video is very important to watch (and learn). Take it easy and feel good soon.
Love this. On August 8th I was loading my fatbike in my pickup and did something wrong. Would up ripping the tendon that holds the bicep to the forearm clean off the bone. Watched the bicep creep up into my armpit. Surgery a couple days later and PT for a bunch of weeks. Got the OK to go to spin classes a couple weeks ago but still a few weeks away from actual pedalling. Luckily, here in North Delaware, we have plenty of places for quick hikes. The dogs been reaping the benefits of my injury, big time. Thanks for this and keep up the great work! Sean
Excellent video! I could've used your outlook when I fractured my elbow and had a plate screwed into it. Took me over a year to fully recover. Arm goes numb after 20 minutes of riding now but i push on. I know your pain, I've broken my collar bone, ribs, fingers, dislocated a shoulder etc... I even managed to get my girlfriend to break her collar bone, (which required surgery and a plate with screws) on our first date mountain biking! Kudos to you for your outlook and discipline! I almost want to go break something else now!
Great video and timely too. I just had a big crash and broke a rib. Painful but happy the damage was only the rib. I will take your advice and let myself heal while occupying my time doing things I usually don’t have time for. Hope you are feeling better soon.
This video actually helped me a lot. While I am not down and out due to a physical injury, I am hurting. And there has been a lot of pressure, not entirely without basis or appropriateness to my situation, to take immediate action that is a proposition fraught with complications beyond the initial "aha" moment. I actually think they are right. It is the feasibility, logistics and poor history with that path, however a function of biased circumstances, that undermines it and at best makes it a long term proposition, combined with other circumstances. I wasn't sure how to approach my life predicament until I watched this video. To quote, "Time heals all things, unless you rush it. Then it definitely won't." To try the same thing twice and expect a different result is the definition of insanity is something I have heard more than once and also applies. Who woulda thought? A mountain bike RUclips channel held the wisdom needed to put me at peace with my predicament. Thanks Seth!
Enjoyed the video. Major crash in June this year: 4 broken ribs, 2 fractures on left scapula, large open wound & avulsion fracture on left elbow, skull fracture, and to top it off, cervical vertebral fractures in 3 bad spots. Neck/torso brace for 3 months, no driving, no riding, nearly nothing and I was lucky to be alive and walking. Still recovering but now very cautious and mellow on smooth trails, and no drops. My helmet is now a trophy for saving my life, placed proudly in the living room. I do have the KOM on a local freeway: 104 mph.
I started my channel because of you kid. It's been very gratifying, thank you. Also had shoulder surgery, not your fault. Get well and have a great Thanksgiving, cheers!

I have watched your videos for years and had no idea you had a cat😂😂 great ideas seth hope to see you riding again soon!!!
“Perhaps you're planning on getting injured in the near future.” - seth 22 nov 2018
I've been doing it wrong for years. When I broke my collar bone, I still had to go to work as a mechanic. Same thing when I broke my finger.
I'm surprised at actually how helpful this is! I sprained my ankle jumping off my bike and was out for a while.
This is great. I just separated my shoulder in a crash and ER doc said to expect 8-10 weeks recovery. I even have the same sling as you. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation.
Seth's bike hacks will be called Seth jar hacks for the next 10 week's.
Now it is berm peak😪
Please do not ever use a knife as a prying tool, that´s just stupidly dangerous. Most other kitchen utensils work just as well.
I’m gonna recieve a Mountain Bike on christmas! ❤️❤️
Love from the Philippines!
Ho ho ho! :))
Good for you .....
Thanks! :)
Kowalski, analysis
Nice to see a fellow Filipino. Have a great Christmas!
Dude that explosion while fallin had me laughin so hard!! Almost woke my kiddos up!! 🤣🤣🤣
This is by far one of the best RUclips channels around. Amazing job Seth!
I am such a big fan of you,you inspired me to mountain bike
Ik how that feels I broke my collar bone bout 3 months ago and just got back to riding again
first youtuber who I have pressed the bell on. (please take it personally.)
Thanks for sharing,Seth! I was getting down on myself for my crash 3 days ago on Thanksgiving : broken collar bone, broken ribs and punctured lung ...until I saw you in the sling! Made me feel oddly accomplished lol.
I am injured now and haven't ridden my bike for a while now, but I haven't been too bored thanks to your videos Seth, thanks for the great content even though you have been injured aswell.
*Gopro studio isn't a bad option either* yeah, it wasn't, it was a great free editor, but gopro REMOVED IT FOR NO REASON
DaVinci Resolve is great, and free version offers evrything most of us need, great for color correction, editing, can even blur stuff, sharpen, got audio equalizer i could go on, it's great, gopro studio is restrictive.
@@mtbboy1993 I'm using VSDC, which is great, but slow, because there is so many options. Go pro recommended it on their forum.
@@finnclarkson1554 I haven't tried it, doesn't look as good as DaVinci, ui look horrible.
@@mtbboy1993 I'll try Davinci rn, thanks
@@finnclarkson1554 only thing to keep in mind is u can't use 164 4k60, but cine form works, u haven't learned how to remove fisheye so I use gopro studio for that first. Davin I resolve exports huge files that can't be uploaded, so I compress it in goprostudio been doing this for a while worked great.
“Good exercise with you could definitely use”
Did he just call me fat (jk)
1:04 im wearing those exact headphones
Just tore my ACL right at the start of bike season here in Michigan, thanks for this vid I needed it. Cheers Seth and thanks for all you do!
Hey Seth I'm a big fan,I started watching you and Alex yesterday (11-21-18) I now love mountain biking and your channels! Keep up the good videos!
Clicked this notification so quick!
6:33 I literally can’t keep my head up. I hurt my neck.
R.i.p best boy drama
Broke my left foot on the same day this video came out. You always are there when I need ya.🤙🏼
Thanks for the awesome content.
MiddleAge MTB when I broke mine I laid around a while, watched the Tour de France on TV and ordered a new bike 👍
Seth has Gucci slippers
you're welcome seth!
With a broken colure bone I started to do unicycling till I broke the other 1
Hey Seth, you're exactly right about rushing back in after healing up.
I might as well be injured, my bike is out of order for a while until I can get some money to fix it.
I broke both my arms. Well one was broken the other had a medium size cut. So a little chunk of the bone was gone.
(1:18 )
And that's where you're wrong, I was able to go mountain biking by velcroing my cast to my mountain bike
So glad this video pops into my feed after shattering my face bones in a bike crash
0:37 thanks Seth, I think I’ve broken my rib from laughing so hard! This is now a well needed video! 😂
My german shepherd is having the worst time of her life right now because I'm always out mountain biking
MTB Shredder :(. I got a doggo too and hes too clumsy to be a trail dog. Hed get lost or distracted by a massive stick. 😂😂
@@Max-pt4tx same my dog isn't a trail dog because she is a total spazm and she will run off the trail and forget we she is
MTB Shredder haha.
Keep it up man!
when ur far out in the forest
seth: "farest"
This made me laugh 😂
Notification squad?

Noticed it's 4K!
Heal well!
I broke my collerbone doing the same thingi jumped my bike and I landed on my shoulder
Around 6 years ago I jumped my scooter’s handles. I went full speed down a 45 degree hill and hit a sewer. It’s a wonder I only came out with a bleeding and twisted ankle.
Every time Seth brakes his helmet and run it over he should do a giveaway of his helmet. Like if you agree
breaks not brakes
Ollie Sayers Spelling, how does it work.
The reason he broke it is so that someone doesn't use it. If he gives a way the helmet, some ppl might keep it but if someone different gets it, they might wear its
@@egg5180 I think he meant after Seth runs it over
Tucker Anderson I would wear it ONLY if Seth ran it over
Are those slippers Gucci

All your videos are brilliant and inspirational. You,like a lot of us do not have a huge amount of luck where injuries are concerned but an here’s the big but.... you gotta protect ur self better. I ride at trails centres and bike parks every
weekend with armour after puncturing my spleen and splitting my kidney.
We need to help Seth Beat T series
lol
I fractured my wrist.
Every single video. You have no good reason not to have explosions in EVERY. SINGLE. VIDEO.
I totally know what you're talking about in this video. I just got out of an injury that I got because of NOT taking it easy after healing from a surgery. I my case ripped groin muscles.
This video is very important to watch (and learn).
Take it easy and feel good soon.
found this channel a couple of weeks ago, broke my left elbow yesterday at a trail. 10/10
0:40 wait that's not true
The explosion was far more bigger
Seth, love how you find the joy in every situation. Reminds me to look for the bright side.
That healing-time was well used cuz having explosions in the videos is epic!
This is great content. As a physical therapist, I totally agree with people finding ways to improve during a setback.
