For anyone still riding tubes but gets punctures often put an old inner tube between your actual inner tube and tire. A simple hack here, make your own protein packed flapjacks instead of store bought ones. You can make them in big batches and keep them fresh in your freezer. It’s also much cheaper and healthier!
For your tip about the presta/schrader valve swap, I saw you feeding quarters into the gas station air machine. I have a tip for your California viewers: In the state of California, gas stations are required BY LAW to provide free air to customers purchasing fuel. Even if you're not pumping gas, the majority of gas stations won't mind turning it on for you anyway (Most won't even check if you bought gas or not, especially since 90% of people pay at the pump these days). If you're feeling particularly antisocial, many of the pumps have a button on them to turn them on, but otherwise you just ask the cashier and they'll either give you a token or turn it on remotely. And if you DID buy gas, and they refuse, that can be a pretty serious fine if you feel like reporting them. They're also required to provide free water, but that's more for emergency radiator coolant, not drinking water (I sure wouldn't trust whatever comes out of that machine). Just don't be a jerk and use it as a free bike wash station ;)
Yes, I use tip #1 literally everyday! I was going to pause the video to type out the seat bump w/ the knee tip, but then you covered it!! WHAT A LEGEND. Seth is the GOAT. Such a helpful tip.
Also, thought of a tip to share: Hang hydration pack reservoir upside to air out so they don't get moldy. Osprey sells fancy kits for doing this, but this is a cheap, free hack. I use a medium size paper binder clip on the bottom & wedge a small ~2" piece of cardboard at the mouth on the bottom to keep it open, then just hang it from a hook, nail, pegboard, etc. Also, to clean out the hose, I straighten out a wire clothes hanger & attach a small piece of scrap cloth to the end & push it through the entire length a couple of times.
Gas station air pumps are free to use by law in the state of California. Yes. I'm serious. It's actually the law. You don't even need to buy gas, just ask them if you can use the air pump and they'll hit a remote activator switch and tell you to head over there. Which is pretty helpful for us city riders.
Seeing as I don’t have a proper bike stand, one thing I found that works very well is the hitch mounted bike rack on my truck. You can use it for a lot of things from basic derailer adjustment all the way to new fork installation.
Hack: Sharpen the bottom end of a toothbrush to make a tire tool. Brush on one side and pick on the other. I use this on my bike tires, it works very well.
For muscle cramps, bananas work the best. They contain lots of potassium which help to reduce cramping and retain water. They are also easy to store and you don’t have to worry about finding a bin for the peel, as it will naturally decompose!
Hey Seth!! a good hack for carrying duct tape: Wrap your preferred duct tape neatly around the body of a cheap plastic pen. Roll on as much as you want, or as little as you need. The an take a knife or side cutters and cut the pen body flush with the end of the tape. Makes a great tiny roll of duct tape, you can turn several feet of tape into a very small package, no bigger than a bid lighter. Speaking of lighters, you can wrap duct tape around one of those too, if you ever needed a lighter on the trail. Heck I’ve even seen people wrap duct tape around old gift cards. That makes for a nice flat carry method that can still hold several feet.
hacks/tips : Use a cheap bike lock which has flexible cable as a bike repair hanger.Hang it on a hook on the sealing, then pull it down when you use it,that could save a lot of space.(sorry for the bad English)

Nikwax seems a good choice. Be sure that waterproofing sprays do not contain PFAS (or PFCs) as they are Really bad for your health. Lots of things contain PFAS these days, like some types of waterproof clothing etc or stain proof carpets (IF you Really must get stain proof then make sure it is factory applied as it will contaminate your house to a lesser degree than shop applied ones.) There are other options but I would have to look that up.

Use old stainless steel spokes for post-ride satay skewers for the grill. Just slightly sharpen the point like you did on the grinder and skewer on pieces of beef, chicken or pork, grill and re-use when done. Saw them doing it in the Philippines years ago!
Great hacks! Something I found very useful when installing very tight tubeless tires on a tubeless setup is a bendable plastic/rubbery ruler. Using a tire lever usually screws up your tape job letting air leak through your spoke holes. Instead, wedge a ruler in between your rim and your bead, and then bend it over towards your hub (Inside of your rim) and pull, using it like a rope. This hack gives you the extra leverage needed and does not harm your tape. Hope this works for you!

Seth, a hack that I use a lot is when you have a quick release lever for your seat post or even your wheels, that is to tight to open with you hands, you can wrap the edge of your shirt around it and it makes it way easier.
one of the hacks in your videos about shoelaces getting caught in your chains can be solved by either stuffing the laces into your shoes or buying these things called Lace Anchors or Xpand Lacing System, it basically allows you to make your laced shoes into slip on shoes, I’ve been using them for years and they’ve really made things a lot easier for me to make sure I always have a nice tight fit on my shoes.

@@JS05 In America there are plenty of other things that are always free. Like water from any coffee shop or restaurant even if you don't buy anything. or to use the toilet for free everywhere and given that Americans pay 30% less for a house that is 29% larger on average I'd say the cost of $1 a few times a year is nothing and even if you don't have money the gas station worker will just give you the money if you ask. Another zip tie hack: put it around a water bottle cage or piece of frame upside down so the Zip tie doesn’t attach properly so you just take it of if you need is. SAVED ME
This may work on a mtb, but for bmx when your traveling with your bike on a plane they charge you 100 dollars to travel with it, so I just pack it in a golf bag. Works like a charm!
Tatertot Store it in a bomb
Ummmm....right....
Use an old tire for a chainstay protection you could just use a tube but you can cut the shape how you want it and in my opinion it looks cool...your videos are sweet I learn so much from them!!!
Considering I don’t ride any sort of bikes I find your videos really interesting really great stuff

Pickle juice is the best hangover cure ever. pro tip from a Russian haha
its also the best for cleaning up you're blood so its clean (piss test) from marijuana.. figured that out my self (tried it)
@@Alturixs wat
@@somedude2492 When i was 18 my friends and i grouped up and smoked some marijuana, and i had a job interview the next day (they did a drug test to see if i would pass to work). I forgot about it until it came to be after getting very high. I knew drinking pickle juice helps do alot to get rid of a upset stomach and also alcohol since it goes into you're blood system if you drink a lot of it. So i did.. I drank two full size jars and ate 14 pickles (really wanted that job) so the next day at the interview i was tested.. little to my surprise LOL i passed the drug test i was clean........... i was like dammmmm it worked hahaha..

HACK#2: use shampoo and brush to clean shoes. This will help a lot with muddy shoes and it also make white soles more white. I use nettle shampoo. Then just wipe it of.
This is the best product for making stick-ons for your shift levers. It’s rubber and won’t wear-out your fingers like that gritty skateboard tape. 3M Safety-Walk Gray Indoor/Outdoor Tread, 2-Inch by 180-Inch Roll, 7647NA
Hi Seth i really like You. I Was watching you since 700k subs and i really like wathcing you ride but here in Finland we Dont have that good trials and i cannot travel becouse im 13 yers old. But keep it on👌

You can use a zip tie as a zip tie. Thank me later! 🤙🏻
Oh my goodness i never thought of that!! good one man will help me get out of those situations where i need a zip tie but all i have is a zip tie xD
Your first hack I do it all the time when i go home or in trail boss..
Hello Seth are you ever thinking of coming over to the uk 🇬🇧 to do some mountain biking 🚵♀️? U probs won’t even see this so yea I love you videos hope to chat back byeeeeeee❤️😂😀😀😀
same
Or Estonia
Seth, you can plug your tubeless tires with leaves on the trail using a spoke pick or a small allen key too
“In a pinch” - Seth’s Bike Hacks 2019
When exploring new trails alone, a compass to take note of the direction you came from can be really helpful
Seth, a hack that I use a lot is when you have a quick release lever for your seat post or even your wheels, that is to tight to open with you hands, you can wrap the edge of your shirt around it and it makes it way easier.

one of the hacks in your videos about shoelaces getting caught in your chains can be solved by either stuffing the laces into your shoes or buying these things called Lace Anchors or Xpand Lacing System, it basically allows you to make your laced shoes into slip on shoes, I’ve been using them for years and they’ve really made things a lot easier for me to make sure I always have a nice tight fit on my shoes.
the first hack is quite possibly the best advice i’ve ever received
When i go for a ride i put lemon slices in my water bottle to make the water fresh, but on my last ride i was hurt (hitted my b****) so i ate the lemon slice from my bottle and man that was a relief its not pickle juice but it worked, thank you seth!!!

Also Gas (Petrol) is three times more expensive in Europe so its really silly to get excited over random minimal charges based on the way an economy operates or is forced to operate due to a government
HACK: put doorseal tape around cabels to prevent paint scraches

Use metal downhill bars if you have any laying around to extend the leverage of an 8mm, while you try to get your bottom bracket turned free.
Put the bar over the Allen key and give it a fair kick or simply stand on it!
an old roadie friend taught me to find some plastic bag along the road to put into my shoes as temporary shoe covers when the weather turns foul in the middle of a long ride. A solid hack for sure.
