Aloha Kylie, I am a retired kitchen and bath designer. When we came across items we were not able to get in specialty metal finishes. Then you might want to consider having the shower glass door metal hinges and your existing shower drain trim "Powder Coated" to a color that closely compliments your tile color? The process is available in almost endless color choices and is extremely durable as well!
What I did in my own bathroom because I hate always cleaning the glass doors was to put up a simple shower curtain, two layers-an inner vinyl curtain and an outer beautiful printed cotton curtain. It works superbly and makes a wonderful soft statement in a room full of hard surfaces.
agreed...a simple cotton shower curtain over the plastic lining. This is an item I'll pay a few extra dollars for as it can transform a room & can be easily replaced if you tire of it

For the shower drains and door hinges, nickle pairs better with brass than stainless steel because it is a warmer silver metal, and has more of an old world feel to it. The other option is to go for a few black accents in the space with the shower drain, hinges, and maybe in the lighting. This could bring a more modern touch which won't feel so out of place if teamed with wrought iron lighting as an accent. Or more traditionally, if you can find a good aged bronze finish and again tie it into the lighting or some accessories.
yes bronze is another option but may be just as hard to find as the brass. I also like the idea of black and use a light or other feature in bathroom to tie it together.
I was going to say it’s now very chic to mix your metals. I personally would use a curtain on the shower and tackle that door issue later. As for the drain I would get a beautiful nickel or bronze. They won't though. Worked as an ICU nurse for 44 yrs. and once protocols are set in regard to infectious diseases especially, they do not bend. If they did for one they'd have to do it for all.

As much as it may seem a crazy , unfair rule, they don’t do it out of cruelty or laziness, it’s to protect the newborns. I’m not taking anyone’s side here (I’d also be VERY frustrated if this were to happen to me!!), just saying it’s not cruelty, it’s caution

This is a case of going to extremes--and it has not been well thought out all. Even Kelly sees the fallacy of keeping her husband, and the baby's father---away from her and the baby for most of the labor--when they will be with him afterwards. It is ridiculous, and not based on anything that makes sense. Just plain silly.
Consider getting a hotel room near the hospital to labor there with your husband and family. You might even hire a doula to supervise. Then when you are closer to delivery, go to the hospital. It’s criminal they separate you from your husband during this critical time. Wishing you a safe delivery and healthy baby. We all will be waiting to hear about it when you are ready to share.

It seems that there are different hospital rules in different parts of Italy. Sara and Luca (from LEAW Leave Everything and Wander) ended up changing hospitals to where her Dad lived up in Merano, Sudtirol and Luca was able to be with her for the entire labour, which was long! Probably not an option for you to go to a different region, but maybe expressing logic and your charm maybe they will change their minds, maybe a longshot. You are an incredibly strong woman and I know when the time comes you be able to articulate what you need and don't need with calm, polite authority, from the hospital staff. You've got this! 💛

My husband is a plumber in North Carolina and he said you can get a “sliding, frameless” door or “Lowe’s” in the USA has a solid glass panel and an opening door. You could also buy a handle or hinges and have them “dipped” at a metal plating place or metal fabricator.

With labour you can stay home for a good length of time before you need to go to the hospital so Guido can give lots of love and support during this time. Then there’s a window of calm, then When you go into the last stage of birthing you turn your attention and deep focus inwardly and it’s you and the baby, until the end. So if you time it well Guido won’t miss anything ❤️
I was raised on a farm in Michigan. We were a family of 8 children on a generational family farm which shaped the person I am. My grandparents came from Germany and Italy so I was raised learning how to cook, can, and sew. I now live in Southern California with 5 grown children who now have their own families. I love the values I had growing up and have passed on to my children who all are incredible home cooks. Love you Kylie!
For the shower door: I would suggest getting the door installed with what they have. With a new baby, having a working shower will be more important than everything matching. When you have time, you can look at sourcing brass fittings for the door. It is very easy to change. For the drain, if you can find a drain that is bigger than 11.5, you can have it ground down to the correct size. If you find one that is smaller, you might be able to used caulking to fill in the gaps.

The beautiful Kylie, many blessings for your babies birth 🙏🏽🕊 In regards to the disappointing rules of the Hosptal you choose to bring the biggest most precious gift you will have, might I suggest you find a midwife - doula to come to your home, where your most comfortable and with all your loved ones to share & help with your son’s birth. You are healthy, so is your baby, it’s so not necessary to be put in a bad situation at the hospital and being told you can’t be with your family, let alone what the nurses might demand on your son with unnecessary tests. I went through it, and there weren’t any fond memories of my son’s birth, only when we left the hospital were we happy ❤🎉
You could have an embedded fridge (I think that's what it's called), so it's basically inside a cabinet and you wont actually see it unless you open it.
Kylie you are such a strong woman to go through your third trimester while renovating a huge home! On the shower door, I’ve learned that adding a mix of hardware elevates a room. I love brass just as much as you do and I think that a matte black or even better, dark brushed brown brackets, would look really good on the shower door. Your interior design is my style. Hi Kylie, my 120 cm shower has got 2 glass doors "saloon" style they call it, if you imagine western movies you can figure it out :) btw quite happy with those also because you can open in both directions in and out, easy to enter easy to exit. Re Shower: I think it’s important to hold out for brass. Use something temporarily in the meantime. Perhaps a shower curtain until they can find what you want. I know somethings take a long time. Since this is your forever home you can wait a bit. I know you’ll source it eventually.

It seems that there are different hospital rules in different parts of Italy. Sara and Luca (from LEAW Leave Everything and Wander) ended up changing hospitals to where her Dad lived up in Merano, Sudtirol and Luca was able to be with her for the entire labour, which was long! Probably not an option for you to go to a different region, but maybe expressing logic and your charm maybe they will change their minds, maybe a longshot. You are an incredibly strong woman and I know when the time comes you be able to articulate what you need and don't need with calm, polite authority, from the hospital staff. You've got this! 💛

My husband is a plumber in North Carolina and he said you can get a “sliding, frameless” door or “Lowe’s” in the USA has a solid glass panel and an opening door. You could also buy a handle or hinges and have them “dipped” at a metal plating place or metal fabricator.

With labour you can stay home for a good length of time before you need to go to the hospital so Guido can give lots of love and support during this time. Then there’s a window of calm, then When you go into the last stage of birthing you turn your attention and deep focus inwardly and it’s you and the baby, until the end. So if you time it well Guido won’t miss anything ❤️
I was raised on a farm in Michigan. We were a family of 8 children on a generational family farm which shaped the person I am. My grandparents came from Germany and Italy so I was raised learning how to cook, can, and sew. I now live in Southern California with 5 grown children who now have their own families. I love the values I had growing up and have passed on to my children who all are incredible home cooks. Love you Kylie!
For the shower door: I would suggest getting the door installed with what they have. With a new baby, having a working shower will be more important than everything matching. When you have time, you can look at sourcing brass fittings for the door. It is very easy to change. For the drain, if you can find a drain that is bigger than 11.5, you can have it ground down to the correct size. If you find one that is smaller, you might be able to used caulking to fill in the gaps.

In regards to the disappointing rules of the Hosptal you choose to bring the biggest most precious gift you will have, might I suggest you find a midwife - doula to come to your home, where your most comfortable and with all your loved ones to share & help with your son’s birth.
You are healthy, so is your baby, it’s so not necessary to be put in a bad situation at the hospital and being told you can’t be with your family, let alone what the nurses might demand on your son with unnecessary tests. I went through it, and there weren’t any fond memories of my son’s birth, only when we left the hospital were we happy ❤🎉

You could have an embedded fridge (I think that's what it's called), so it's basically inside a cabinet and you wont actually see it unless you open it.
We call it a built in or integrated appliance here in the UK
Just make sure there’s enough space for the doors to open all the way so you can take our shelves and drawers when they need cleaning.
Kylie you are such a strong woman to go through your third trimester while renovating a huge home! On the shower door, I’ve learned that adding a mix of hardware elevates a room. I love brass just as much as you do and I think that a matte black or even better, dark brushed brown brackets, would look really good on the shower door. Your interior design is my style. Consider matte black to contrast with brass in the bathroom. It is less of a dramatic difference to chrome. You and the baby are in our prayers for safe delivery!
Hi Kylie, my 120 cm shower has got 2 glass doors "saloon" style they call it, if you imagine western movies you can figure it out :) btw quite happy with those also because you can open in both directions in and out, easy to enter easy to exit. Re Shower: I think it’s important to hold out for brass. Use something temporarily in the meantime. Perhaps a shower curtain until they can find what you want. I know somethings take a long time. Since this is your forever home you can wait a bit. I know you’ll source it eventually.
