Yep... its pretty clear from previous lore that them being giants was meant as literal tall-tales. They are just supposed to be big...not this. In a setting that is kind of silly... for some reason the primarch height just makes me annoyed. I almost passed on this figure because of it, but FOMO got me. They should be a head taller than a regular astartes...again, not this.
People commenting on Primarch size have to realize that primarchs and space marines are not human. They literally have multiple organs like multiple hearts and lungs, etc and barely age if at all. They have been completely mutated. Making them human size when they are not human is like asking to have Hulk figure stand shoulder to shoulder with Black Widow.
IMO they should have cast the sword from clear orange resin and painted the non-flaming parts to be opaque. Might be a good DIY resin project to play around with.
It's a great looking figure, but for $100, they definitely could've improved some details. If not your suggestion for the sword, at least some shading on the gold so he doesn't look so flat.
@@thenostalgiabusiness The joy toy's retail price of guilliman in U.S is around 125USD but the presell price in Taobao- a Chinese website which have their shop is 500yuan=amost70USD but you know they sell a higher price in U.S ,I 'm chineseI bought it in China so I may think it's a fair price just for the model but the detail I will still repaint it and use 3D print head or sword will be better than they did . so comes to the fact they do sell a bit higher price in U.S maybe somewhere around 80 or 90 dollars will interest more people , but yea even joytoy sucks it's this best big scale warhammer figures , the macfarlands it just too bad but tit's a lot cheaper.
Remember guys, Rolls-Royce Gucci bag is right in the middle when it comes to Primarch heights. I imagine the other, much taller Primarchs would make the regular Space Marines look like little dwarves in comparison.
I love the idea of these guys being giants. I’m 5’6”. These guys are the epitome of selective breeding. Imagine Shaquille O’Neil with the speed of Usain Bolt, the strength of Brian Shaw and the dexterity of Simone Biles. But then triple that and put them in the best power armor your civilization can produce. Yeah- these guys should be a lot bigger than the standard Ultramarine
Apparently my Gman is coming mid Sep- early Oct. He’s a really great figure! And side by side with the minis, Lion El’Jonson and Roboute Guilliman do tower well above their sons.
Finally Guilliman is here and hopefully I will get mine soon too! Yeah, he is ridiculously tall, and not even the tallest primarch! I will probably give him a separate shelf, just to avoid other Ultramarines to look like little kids playing war in comparison :D
Soooo, after reading lots of the comments I'm a bit shocked that many people are "poo-pooing" his size. Since I've gotten into the line, I've been buying the Warhammer Codex's and immersing myself in the lore and Primarchs being huge is exactly how they are presented in the official lore. In fact, Joytoy has been following the look and spirit of the actual mini's nearly exactly. I can look in my codex's and see minis that look exactly like my JoyToy figs, detail for detail. I love the fact that his size is matching up with the lore. I anticipate JoyToy will eventually make the bigger bad guys (Ork Warbosses, Higher ranking demons, chaos imbued traitor primarchs, etc) and then Guilliman won't be the only giant. Hell, he might be one of the smaller "big" figs as he is not even close to being the tallest Primarch according to the lore!
You're right that JoyToy has been sticking extremely close to the look of the miniatures, but not actually the scale. They've been ignoring the size difference between Primaris and Firstborn from the start. In fact, they've released sets of Chinese-exclusive Firstborn helmets so you can DIY any of your Primaris troops into Firstborns. I knew there was no way they'd ignore the size difference for Primarchs, but I did like the fact that I previously had a relatively "realistic" looking army. Now I've got a giant leading the troops. 😅
@@thenostalgiabusiness This is true, the Primaris should have been larger. As far the Primarch's size, we knew they were substantially bigger than even the astartes, so at least that is in line with the lore. Just think they have teased a Warhammer 30K subline... Imagine Primarchs in old school terminator plate! Horus will be a behemoth!
They still didn't get the shoulders right. There should be a lever in the shoulder joint the ballpeg is attached to so as the arm rises the lever moves and the shoulder pad shifts upward and out to maintain relative position while also moving out of the way. JoyToy still can't figure out what even Hasbro are doing with shoulders now. And it can easily scale down, SH Figuarts are a smaller scale and they do it for all of their figures, especially all of the Iron Man ones.
WOW! That does look very entertaining. Are the Joy Toy WarHammer figures like the Joy Toy Battle for the Stars figures? Are they light weight and fragile like models or are they made of a more dense plastic like actual toys?
Hey AAT, do you remember how many RMB Guilliman was? I’m seeing some decent prices in Hong Kong but I’m going to be in China in the future and I’m wondering if he’s cheaper there. Thanks in advance!
owh he's a chonky boy. now everybody else is gonna look like midgets next to him. wish that joytoy could make the flames look better though. it's like they dip the sword in a cheese sauce and now it's dripping
I agree, the scale of Primarchs to Space Marines is ridiculous. A mistake, in my view, to make Primarchs giants. That’s why I gave the Gulliman figure a miss. It looks absurd. Thanks for the review.😎

In a universe of mushroom orcs and pervert elves - I’m fine with a few giants running around with flaming swords
In "know no fear" gulliman is described at 3 and a half meters tall. So the scale seems to be right on the money.
You may not like it but this is what peak lore accurate size looks like

would be nice to see a comparison of the primarch with an ordinary person same 1/18 scale. Thanks for the video!
That'd be good. Add in a Krieg or Battle Sister.
A regular Astartes is 2.5m (8'2") tall. The figure is 18cm vs 12cm so the Primarch would be 3.75m (12'3") tall.
