- This is a cut game scene that was found in the 2016 beta build of Persona 5 that got recently dumped online.

This was recorded in the Steam version of Persona 5 Royal, the scene event files were cleaned up while keeping everything as unmodified as possible while still being adapted for P5R to record this video.
In the retail release of Persona 5, only the audio files for this scene existed, all of the other assets (such as animations, event scene files, the map it takes place in, etc) were not left over in the release's game files, and thus it was considered "lost cut content" until now.

@@devegas4910 me too since you're in it for the long haul anyway and a lot of the cut stuff is actually pretty good. it's just interesting that so much was cut from a game that's already so long
@@devegas4910I think it was more cause their other persona games were 80~100 hours, so a drastic shift to something 140~160 would’ve maybe turned off past players. Especially because they’d grown up, now having less time. Not to say royal isn’t long compared to the other games, but base game was similar in size.

I never get when people say "Akechi only faked being smart" despite the fact we see how cunning he is in Sae's palace. Not to mention the fact he probably had to always do the palace puzzles by himself as opposed to in a group like us.

@@nacitalatincirli793 They say that because they think every single case he's ever solved was staged by him this faking his ability to solve them. There's no way to prove or disprove whether or not they were all staged. However, what I'm trying to say is that we're still shown throughout the game that he is intelligent either way.
@@Gxmwp oh this is the first time I've heard about that, well let's see, in my opinion, I do like the sound of the cases being frauds to gain popularity, I think it fits the character, but that shouldn't mean that he is in any way dumb, I think he is very capable of solving those cases he has to but just didn't need to since they are rigged
Idk, I'm trying to find a way in which both outcomes happen (the rigged cases and akechi still being smart)
@axhgro2839 The cases Akechi solved were caused by him. This is stated multiple times in game. He solves cases that he caused which then causes him to gain popularity. If you want a bit of a refresher, look up the cutscene of Akechi talking to shido in his office or the cutscenes that play during his boss fight in shidos palace. Akechi himself confirms the fraud behind his cases.
"You GO cheating hottie!" I didn't expect THAT from Ann LMAO, this was such a fun scene! It was awesome seeing Akechi's genius self again with his plan to outwit Shadow Sae, the line "you need brains for that" was super funny too, I do see why this wasn't used because it feels kinda scuffed but still it's a nice scene, Akechi lifting up and hugging Mona was adorable!
I love how he actually had a few interactions with the thieves and came off as more genuine

Idk i feel like a scene like this helps mask the eventual truth later, he seems more genuine like he's fitting in better and just talking to everyone more, but I guess the bridge scene became his big brain moment instead
The fact that this is even possible is unbelievably awesome. A shame this scene was cut, but it's nice to see it now!

this is such a fun scene!! I understand why it was cut but I still really like it! seeing akechi's ego get inflated in real time is so funny LMAO. Plus "don't. this game uses a lot of brains" and "woohoo you go cheating hottie" was the icing on the cake. 10/10 scene.

looks like a cool scene but its just empty dialogue as opposed to the other levels in the palace
Probably a mix of time and context. That being said, I would’ve loved if the Manager’s Floor was a few minigame scenes back to back followed by a confrontation fight pre-card

A lotta little shit in the palaces is filler but they removed stuff like will seeds being backstory and funny lil scenes like this, its kinda weird to me, maybe this and the bridge scene don't both need to exist but idk, I think if anything they shoulda had a makoto moment with sae somewhere
@@SSlash I feel like some bosses are made to be hated to the core like Kamoshida. I feel that the Kamoshida will seed cutscene just made him less hateable since it showed him being repentant before he started to become corrupt af.
@@unknowed5048I dont even remember it exactly but I think if they had finalized it the intention behind those kinda scenes would be to show how they werent ALWAYS horrible to the core ever since hitting adulthood, but to show things that made them as terrible as they are, which is something the game never really does get into, not that every villain in everything needs a backstory or a tragic one, but something to go off of in a directors cut sorta thing like royal would be nice, but I dont think anything they could show would make their present day selves much, if any less hateable
It's an understatement to say this scene needed more development and I completely understand why it was removed. But I do wish they had more scenes like this where Akechi gets to show off his strength and cunning. He really needed to be a more threatening rival before his betrayal.

I understand why they would cut it out but I think they should have kept it, considering that there are a lot of other scenes in the game that don't add much or are unnecesary. But it's still nice to be able to see it now!!

I really wish this was kept in the game!! I love Akechi and this is really fun for his character, it further exemplifies the fact that he's intelligent and cunning because some people still don't get that for some unfathomable reason
It also gave us Akechi putting an arm around Joker and picking up Mona
I did find it odd how in a casino themed palace, there was nothing about poker. Now we know why.

Considering how much dialogue was recorded and how much the scene was animated I'm surprised it got cut
Ignoring the part that this is majorly scripted and you don't have any real input, actually interacting with the Palace Rulers and confronting them on their own bullshit is actually an interesting idea. Pitty half the Palaces don't have you interact outside the boss battle, and the other half only have you even talking to them when they're setting up a mini-boss. P5 is a game of such wasted potential.

I really liked how shadow sae was more direct compared to other palace owners, who just lie near the end of their palaces. Something like this would've given us more time with her. Neat!

@@starshape6650not really. akechi’s third semester expressions are new to royal and afaik don’t replace an old portrait slot like the other party members’ new expressions. if this scene is from the original game it shouldn’t call that expression because it doesn’t exist
@@cyanidepizza I don't know what this scene looks like without modification, but since it was scrapped I imagine a lot of the lines don't have portraits assigned to them. As a result, while piecing the scene back together and cleaning it up for this video, the creator probably had to assign portraits themself and picked the 3rd Semester smile for a few lines because it fits the smug delivery, as opposed to just keeping his expression neutral.
And in case you're wondering, some of Akechi's 3rd Semester expressions exist on all of his outfits in the Royal files, so that's how they got it on the Prince attire.

@@p.j.3578 This is correct, no portraits assigned to the lines, the text also did not exist in English at all so I had to type everything while listening to the audio files and also constantly check line breaks and try to do my best with them, among other things too.
If Persona 5 has this much cut content that was fully voice acted, how did so much of what ended up in the finished game not voice acted?
Is there a possibility that you will publish this event? If you would i could try make a mod for it to fit in the story
There's a group of modders working on a P5R "complete" edition. This audio had already been found before so I bet they were working on an animation, but considering the fact the original animation has been found they'll probably just use this. I image they'll try to add in the other stuff found recently too.

My question is why did they make the actors voice the dialogue that was cut from the game?
Due to the nature of game development taking so long, the script is finished and voiced long in advanced to the completion of development, that way they can just cut anything they don't want/need instead of having to bring the VAs back in to the booth multiple times

@@Evil_Beauty I’d get that if someone else said it, but coming from Anne I don’t think it has that meaning. She’s a model herself who isn’t shy about praising people’s appearances. Akechi is known to be good looking in-universe, so it’s not that unusual that she would make a comment like that.
I do think it’s a bit out there considering he was supposed to be the enemy, but maybe she was being sarcastic haha
@@marzh1073 not to insult Anne's intelligence, but sometimes the things she say out of impulse can be on par to ryuji levels of stupidity. Or his airheadedness, give or take. And sometimes, she doesn't even realize the things she say of genuine niceness results in her being TOO nice for her own good. It's as if she's honest to a fault where she can't say anything bad to ANYONE, even to someone who committed heinous crimes that are considered unforgivable. Or like how Mika was literally sassing her the entire time. Being sarcastic about Anne's weight loss regimen, and playing her for a fool. If this were Akechi in place of Mika, he'd be dancing circles all over Anne's naivety, and honest demeanor without remorse, or sympathy. And why wouldn't he? He already did it with all the fangirls that are infatuated with him as the, "Detective Prince".
