    Thanks for the demo guys. Seems like a cool gadget to have for noodling on the couch or anywhere for that matter. I noticed there are quite a few of these devices out now but maybe this is the best one yet? Just hope the battery lasts long enough to make it worth the purchase.

    The outro sound was stunning...! I wasn't really much convinced by the Fender Mustang plug-amp, but this one... wow ! As to the price, it is the equivalent to 10 high-grade string sets so stop complaining about obsolescence. Just play it and have fun ! Well done Boss, the app and the options are breathtaking...

    • @niclastname
      @niclastname 2 месяца назад +1

      I know using an app for tones is less convenient sometimes, but for me that's the kind of thing that really sets the fender back a lot. Even cheaper headphone amps have app control, and it gives you so much more control over your sound instead of just general "tone" knobs/buttons. It's just super helpful to be able to adjust highs, mids, and lows independently. ESPECIALLY for something like a headphone amp where it's going to be coming through different sound sources. Different headphones, speakers etc which are all going to sound different and likely need adjustments. As opposed to like a combo amp which is usually just coming through the built in speaker no matter where you travel with it.

    Very good sound from the Katana (natural Drive is great). I've been searching for this kind of tools to practice during trips : the one from Fender is good but not "tweekable", I didn't like the sound from the Nux, I ended with the Spark go that I really like as phone amp (and smart band option) ... but it lacks the room option from the boss ... one of the most important thing when you are playing with headphones ! Iwill go to my local store to compare the 2 side by side. Cheers !

  • @wobject
    @wobject 3 месяца назад +3

    I love this idea, but I absolutely hate the built-in jack. Besides the fragility it introduces (one wrong move and the whole thing is useless), I'm sure it makes it much harder to tweak the settings while plugged in (must use app). Also, imagine how long the USB cable has to be to use it as an interface. I guess a male-to-female cable would be a workaround for those issues, but that's my point. If I'm going to have to use a cable, why not just make it a plug?

    Correction: Internal, rechargeable batteries are NOT saving the planet. Unless they are easily user replaceable, internal rechargeable battery devices, all of them, will after a few years stop charging, rendering the devices useless and just more landfill.
    OG wired headphones and IEMs are the perfect example of this - they will literally continue to theoretically function forever since there are no internal batteries that need to be replaced. Many people have favorite wired cans and IEMs they're still using decades after the original purchase date.
    Know of anyone who has replaced their airpod batteries, themselves? No. The vast majority of people just throw out the old ones and get new ones.
    Sorry to mini rant, but those are objective facts I've stated.
    I personally still use and own plenty of non user replaceable battery devices, so I'm a bit of a hypocrite. However, I do KNOW I am being hypocritical....

    • @ThomannsGuitarsBasses
      @ThomannsGuitarsBasses  3 месяца назад +1

      I understand your concern and it's an important "big picture" subject. Even though cell phone batteries are not easy the change, it's absolutely doable. You can find places that specialise in doing just that, even many years after that product was made. Same goes for something like this product. It's not meant to be fiddled with in your own garage but since the batteries used in most of these units are easy to find as a replacement, I'm sure a technician can swap it for you in a few minutes when the time comes. Cheers //Kris

      @joesatchton212 3 месяца назад +3

      Fair enough Kris, and thanks for the reply, But be honest - how many typical consumers of these kinds of products will go to that trouble? Maybe easy for a tech like yourself, but you're maybe 20 out of 1000. Not looking to slam you guys - love you. But just pointing out a simple fact - non-user replaceable rechargeable batteries are part of the problem, not the solution. And can also be part of engineered obsolescence. Cheers!@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses

      Yeah. Boss can do user rechargeable battery devices - I totally love my little GT-1. She ain't the fanciest, she ain't got all the latest features, but man can she sound great and she can run on 4 AA batteries, rechargeable or alkaline. @@Phoboss32

    Not replaceable battery is a big no no. Once the battery dies you can throw it in the trash. I still have a 10yr old vox amplug in a drawer somewhere, chug some batteries in it and it`s good to go. Do you think any of these katana gos will still be working 10 yrs from now?

      Realistically Nothing that costs $120 Bucks will last 10 years. In 10 years they will already be on the Boss Katana Go Mini 4

      In 10 years, this thing will be irrelevant. The technology advances we are about to see are beyond comprehension. People already pay $1500 for a mobile phone that only lasts them a couple of years.

      Hi, I can't remember exactly but it was one of the presets in the first 3 banks. It's the first ambient preset you'l find, can't miss it. And yeah it sounds beautiful. Cheers //Kris
