- Well this is a short video of going fishing in my boat getting the close (sunset and the first of the dark). The low water was 45 minutes after sunset, so we shot the nets in the light, let them drift for an hour and then started the haul. The air pressure was extremely high, about 1039mb, which is a very bad sign when you are herring fishing. We didnt get very much, which was no surprise, but it was a lovely evening to be on the water. There seems to be a few sprats about, as we caught 8 nipped in the herring net meshes, which could have been the marks on the sounder. They did look like herring marks, but they could have been small herring, as they do spawn in this area. January is one of the worst winter months for herring, we only get dribs and drabs, before the spring herring pick up in late February. We do get a few whiting, they are more of a pain than wanted. We keep a few of the bigger ones for tea, but the value of them is so poor, they arent worth keeping. All the small blue dots were weed in the water, there was quite a lot of bits of the red weed in the nets further out. Just a nice nice to be fishing off the Norfolk coast, in the UK.
I love it my way ov fishing I had a ip24 fishing with cod nets longlines and pots off North coast ov Scotland out ov wick .I came up from Essex years ago it was hard liveing up in Scotland had to give my boat up last year as mca was killing the small boats up here so now I'm working on land which I had ..Still got a boat 20 feet ally fish farm boat it's 9.6 beam with x2 50 hp honds on it rod and line now few pots good for the brains....take care keep safe jay from Scotland
Yes I can understand that, the MCA are tightening the regs and rules every year. It’s making it hard to justify to keep going fishing with the peanuts made now. A lot of people have packed in here, there’s not many left
Yes it's so hard but it's OK for French to fish next to you and keep what ever thay like it's more fishing men we need running the mca then school boys or girls trying to tell us what to do
Great video What difference does the air pressure do? And what pressure would be good cheers mate 👍
The fish for some reason dont lift in the water during high air pressures. Something less than 1014mb is ideal. In the summer, or if there is high pressure for a long while in the winter, a high air pressure causes all of the colour to drop out of the water, so it goes very shear.

The previous owner had it made and fitted. All Ive done to it is weld in a bit of pipe each side of it to mount jigging machines
