Beanys fishing
Великобритания
Добавлен 4 авг 2016
Small boat commercial fishing. I have been fishing in small commercial beach boats since I was 8 years old, my father does it, his father, and many generations before hand. Im the owner of a small beach launched vessel on the Norfolk coast. In the autumn and winter we mainly fish with drift nets for herring. Around xmas we also fish for sprats too. In the summer we catch thornback rays, bass, mackerel, mullet, sea trout, smooth hounds, dog fish, brown shrimps, brown crabs, lobsters and a few other bits and pieces using drift nets, tangle nets, longlines, jigging machines, pots and a shrimp trawl. Mostly traditional techniques that have been used for centuries, these are unfortunately dying out with the modernisation of the fishing industry, and the changes in peoples habits of eating certain species of fish.
Im also an apprentice served electrical and mechanical engineer for over 25 years, so complete all of the maintenance on my boat and tractor myself.

Pike fishing on Rollesby broad, dusting off the carp rods. Dead bait herring on the float rig.
Well after a too long rest, the carp rods got dragged out for a go dead baiting on the Norfolk broads. I havent pike fished in years, but after a session with the feeder rods in the summer, I knew there were a few beds of weed. I then decided to use a float, keeping the bait off the bottom, allowing it to drift and cover a good area in the search for pike. The weed would have died down a lot, but there would still be some on the bottom. I made up some new wire traces the night before, a single hook and a treble. The single was for the half herrings head or tail root, and the treble for the flank. This enabled a good cast, but kept the presentation good.

Well I decided a change of venue was due, because of the extreme high pressure, risk of weed, and a north east breeze. Well it was near the new outer harbour, Ive never fished from the shore there in a couple of decades, since we used to get plenty of cod up there. There was one of the bulk ships involved with the Russian fertiliser exploding bomb risk ship the Ruby, that was let dock in the ha...
GRP net chute sizes for shooting commercial long lines, gill & trammel nets . Beach boat sea fishing

Well I was asked for the sizes of my fishing boat net chute. Here is a quick video of the sizes, so it gives you a rough idea if you are looking to make a fibreglass chute for your boat. They are brilliant for any types of nets and longlines. The nets and hooks flow over them easily and safely, so you can stand out of the way, and let the gear flow out of the blue net bins, or baths when lining...

Well the wind was blowing hard in the morning, then it eased off, and was predicted to start blowing hard again in the evening, so it was a perfect weather window to get the rods out, fish the ebb tide and in to darkness. Well there was no shortage of fish, plenty of whiting and dabs of all sizes and condition. It was an enjoyable few hours fishing basic flapper rigs, and the weed didn’t get to...

Well I decided to go on the beach for 2.5 hours as there was too much wind for fishing in the boat. It was an enjoyable session. Weed wasnt too bad, nice colour in the water and most importantly, plenty of fish. The baits werent in the water very long, the shoals must have been feeding.

That's so kind of you Beany, well done 👍
Got to keep the young uns happt
Nice video Beany, I've eaten a fair number of pike in the past but we mustn't take them anymore, the last one I hooked was on a rowing boat near Wroxham, it grabbed a 1 lb skimmer I was bringing in, it dropped it near the boat but grabbed it again, I got it in the boat, got the skimmer out of his mouth and put the 10 lb pike back, held the bream in the landing net the other side for 10 minutes then let him go. He had 2 big bite marks but went away OK. That was about 5 years ago and I haven't had chance to get my tackle out since but I know it's gonna be shrunk and wrinkled !! Take care, Norfolk Ray
Thanks Beany look forward to wearing at sea
Swop the hooks around on the rig with the single hook on the bottom or just use a pennel rig with two single hooks like we use for seafishing but on a trace. Cut the sardine up and thread it on kebab style and using a dead bait stop or a piece of foam card to stop it masking the hook. Mick brown has developed a special clip for the kebab rig but i am too cheap to buy them. sod the presentation and its great for pike fishing on the float. tight lines👍
wheres mine lol
Well done. What a nice gesture
Cheers, they were happy
i use those stops i think they are gardiner
Cheers, I will order some in the future
I am on a run of 4 blanks,so well done! Have a Happy Christmas and tight lines
Cheers, I think the fishing has been hard with all these high pressures!
Put a 6/0 hook on there and those bloody micro whiting still manage to get themself hooked , it is unbelievable how hungry they must be . 🤣🤣😂😂👎👎
At least you didn't blank which is always a bonus. I was waiting for you to find a hole in the bottom and go arse over tip lol. Happy Christmas to you and yours.
Hahahhaa with the high pressure the water was like gin, you could see every nook and cranny. Happy Xmas mate
Happy Christmas buddy hope you and your family enjoy the holidays
Thanks mate, I hope you and yours have a good one!
Good ole boy. Would love another fishing hoodie....great vids and look forward to bumping into you on the beach very soon.

Definitely a labour of love,a beautiful life.
Yes, it’s in the blood
@@beanysfishing2555 I'm sure it has to be! Boat cost, fuel and hard graft. The crabs will fetch about £5 each cooked - how on earth dya make it pay? Much the same as farming, sheeple have no idea about the food on their plate
@ I have a full time job, fishing is just an expensive hobby now unfortunately
Great video. Remember fishing off the breakwater at Dover and people would pull out 20+lb cod and (I think, ling). They were taller than me! Probably bugger all now.
Yes, the cod days are over unfortunately. Water is too warm now
Great idea and a great Chanel 👍
@@david892006 thanks mate
Missed your chance of a new pair of gloves for Xmas there 😂😂
Hahhaha it’s frowned upon now unfortunately.
Caught plenty of bass here in the summer, 50 odd cm ones
I should have got down there. Better fishing than on my boat!
James it must be time for a catch & cook that whiting a nice fish cake supper 🎅
hahaha I gave them 2 to my dad. You need a few decent sized ones to do anything with them
Is there no cod there at night
No, cod vanished years ago in any numbers. Now only a handful are caught every month
@beanysfishing2555 trawlers and greed and bad management. Norway has cod but they managed their fisherys and probably fished everyone else like their tank boats do in Ireland. The EU is a disaster for fishing. In the US there is a 200 mile limit for salmon fishing and a control on inshore fishing no quarter given boats inside 200 mile are confisgated and crew sent home. Thats the way it should be. In Ireland we have a bunch of Numpties lickin EU ass .
Great videos beany and thanks for all the tips 👍

bloody seals Beany lol
Hahaha it’s part & parcel here now, loads of them

Great point (pardon the pun ) regarding hook size and deep hooking. It is surprising how big a bait and hook a small fish can take in. For a year now, I have only used 2/0 circle hooks. Not had a deep hooked fish on these hooks. All lip hooked. Be well and be safe Paul
Yes, it’s surprising what small fish I get on 2/0 hooks
That’s a great tip about using 2/0 hooks to protect the small fish from getting hooked too deep. Looks like it worked a treat.
Yes, it saves a lot of deep hooking, but you still catch small fish I
Great channel! You’ve inspired me to give sea fishing a go in the new year.
Oh good, hope you enjoy it
Warm water and oodles of seals makes poor fishing for man
I love your channel, I’ve spent a lot of my life fishing the spots you feature, for various reasons I don’t get the chance now, it’s almost as if I’m there, both on the rivers and on the shore keep it up, the netting is not dissimilar to the pilchard drift netting we used to do off Penzance and Newlyn in the summer evenings. I miss it all. My infrequent trips to the uk don’t allow me the time to frequent the broads area and the wonderful beaches.
We don’t realise what we have because we see it everyday. It must bring back some good memories for you
@ thanks many fond memories of riverside bungalows at potter heigham repps and Martham when my parents could afford it latterly fished all over the broads area, it’s good to see the fishing making a comeback and the interest in The ecology
@@davemunden8489 sounds like a great childhood. The bream and silverfish are doing well on the rivers. The bream are virtually gone on the trinity broads, and the pike numbers are a fraction of what they were all over thanks to our furry friends, but you cant do anything about it, so you just have to enjoy what you have!
@ we used to fish in front of the water treatment plant on rollesby I think it was, when you could hire a boat loads of bream then. Keep up the good work I will be an avid fan
@ yes, used to be loads of pike that side too. Hardly a bream on there now, such a shame. Used to row out and dump 20kg brown crumb and fish it over night. Used to bag up
It's nice to pull some fish in but they need to be better ones, it gets boring when they are small. Shame they had to dump that fertilizer at sea, spread tons of that stuff on crops.
Yes, shame there werent some better fish there, but you can only catch whats there. I believe it was contaminated with sea water. The original ship had a damaged hull
Thanks Beany i enjoyed this fish fest mate.
Cheers mate, Im glad you did
I don't think I would be able to fish there James it would cost me a fortune!! my favourite treat is the Ice-cream van just near the harbour gate well put it this way I wouldn't go home hungry, the best whippy there is🥰🥰
Oh yeah, Hes been there for decades, its a gold mine. Hes the only one who really knows what its worth, so he wins the bids for the site every year. His ice cream is bloody lovely
@@beanysfishing2555 must be good he pulls in the people
That spot can produce some good fish at times , I've had a trout there couple of years ago
Yes, there is plenty of feed on the bottom there. You did well to catch a sea trout, there isnt many about anymore
Do you ever fish for the herring with rod and line?
@@carlpeel155 I’ve tried, but never had any. Herring only seem to like dirty water here, and you then lose visibility for the sabikis to work
@@beanysfishing2555I love eating what they call new herring when I go to Holland they are cured but not cooked for breakfast . The locals hold them by the tail and eat them then throw away the tail. I believe they were catching them in the river wear estuary in Sunderland this year going to have a go catching them next year. Keep the videos coming they are great cheers!Have you seen the Tuna chasing the herring shoals?
Like all your videos, very informative. How about showing preparation, baiting up, shooting and hauling. Of course mentioning what could go wrong
We dont do much lining now, as there is very little cod to go after. Long lining can go terribly wrong, its one of the most dangerous types of fishing. It doesnt take much for a anchor to pop free, causing loads of slack, that goes around the engine and could pull the boat under in seconds. Next time I go lining, I will do a full video
Love the channel nice thing to do for christmas all the best.
Cheers mate
Nice one Beany. Regards Russ.

Why do you tie these needles so short and what is the method of tying them?
You dont want a long snood or they tangle. The short section of mono is stiff, so it holds the feather away from the mainline. ruclips.net/user/shorts-1RjwTnTmuE
Very straightforward, but a must. Thanks for posting. Kind regards Mike.
