I remember my Hispanic buddy in elementary was always offering whatever he didn’t finish at lunch 🤣 all I had was a ham sandwich and fruit and chips and he’d pull out like 2 burritos, tacos, and whole enchilada and I’d just be feaning like a rat waiting for him to not want something 🤣

Yeah this is funny as a white person I noticed how well the Mexicans ate when they came to my house to pack me out after our house caught fire then they would have lunch in the front yard I saw the way they ate the quesadillas with the sour cream and the guacamole they had a feast. I started making quesadillas for myself and learned how to make guacamole after that. Then I reconnected with my Mexican classmate from California and she would always post everything she was making for her son's on Facebook and it was true she was always creating a Mexican feast for her family she kept making Mexican shrimp cocktails mouth-watering so now I figured I'm in Houston and it's too hot to cook I'm making some Mexican shrimp cocktails yummy yum yum as the years have gone by I've made more and more Mexican food I love it we love it Texans love Mexican food. Just the other day a new friend of mine was having a bad toothache and couldn't eat chips so I made her what I call Ritz crackers nachos I put everything that I put on the nacho on a Ritz cracker so she could eat it with her bad teeth still so good.
Now I'm hungry. I need some chicken enchiladas or some beef fajitas.
As a member of the Mexican/Hispanic community I can agree that we eat a lot and I mean a lot of food like this

Relatable, I remember my dad picking me up at lunch time and taking me to my aunts taquería, they had a table set up behind the kitchen where I could eat in peace. It was set up nicely with a table cloth and flowers. They would hook me up with whatever I wanted and when I was done eating my dad would drive me back to school.😂

@@pinkworld9384 If I'm ever able to I certainly will. Unfortunately my dad is as stubborn as a mule and doesn't let his children take care of him (he never needed it until the crash). In 2021 two drunks were racing behind him on the mountainous path to Santa Cruz. He couldn't avoid them and so he and his car were sent flying off of a cliff. By some miracle or rather by adrenaline he survived and somehow managed to climb up the cliff with his arms injured and a broken neck and a few broken ribs. Luckily when he got to the top some good Samaritans were there to call an ambulance after they saw him climb over and pass out. He was in the ICU for a long time and when he got out weeks later, he was supposed to be released to me and my younger siblings who had already worked out everything for his care. He refused help from everyone in the family and was back on the road against the doctor's urging, driving with a neck brace and hitting the gym with broken ribs. He went back to his life like nothing ever happened and still suffers from pains caused by the crash to this day. He's never been one to slow down or let anyone take care of him.
As an Asian American who grew up around Mexicans all my life... I LOVE THAT CORN WITH MAYO AND TAJIN!!! SOO GOOD!

As a white girl who went to school in Santa Fe Springs I couldn’t wait for lunch because my Hispanic friends for some unknown reason wanted to trade lunch with me. I would get the BEST chorizo and egg burritos. They seemed to like my PB & J. Funny how we always want what someone else has. I love MrChuy videos, I’m laughing all the time! They’re awesome.

Had to subscribe. You're off the chain hilarious. I married into a huge Mexican family (one of the best things in my life), and the way they used to rip on themselves and each other was priceless. And yes, they sure enjoy good food! My mother in law turned me on to napalitos...she used to make this pork/tomato/napales stew and we'd spoon it into homemade torts. Amazing.

LOL I'm Greek & my Yiayia would pack me SPANAKOPITA (spinach pie with feta cheese, green onions & dill - DELICIOUS), Avogolemono soup (chicken lemon orzo soup emulsified with egg), little lamb chunks, Greek bread, lemon garlic oregano potatoes & OMG the kids would make fun of me but I couldn't care less lol I knew what was good!!

@@clasicradiolover my family always sautees the onions in the spinach pie so thats how i make it as well & i use both scallions & regular sweet onion in mine but TBH, they can be left out. after watching about a billion spinach pie YT videos, i realized theres just no end to the variety of personal family recipes with their own spin & twist on ingredients & method of prep - ive seen some with an extremely smooth cream cheese & ricotta filling with barely any spinach in the form of a little folded triangular hand pie to ones with several different kind of greens (kale, spinach, chard) in the shape of an actual pie with a short crust & without exception, each individual recipe looks AMAZING!! plz let me know if you end up trying it! :)

One time i brought a taco de huevo (egg taco) for lunch, and my classmate asked “what is that” she wasnt mexican so she was like really confused 😂. Which is why im now embarrassed to bring that for lunch again but not my fault those are good 😅. i sometimes used to call my classmates “loco” to tease them but the funniest part of all is that they don’t understand a single thing im saying 😂.

I feel you. I grew up in the projects in EAST LA we were so broke that my first time going to IHOP I order me some eggs with my meal and I literally ask the lady if they had some tortillas to eat with my eggs.

In my breakdown during lunch we have this young Hispanic guy who's family is from Mexico he lived at home still but his mom always made him some killer food. Almost each day it'd be a torta sandwich or some meat rice and peppers. Throughout the day he'd always be sharing those Vero sucker lollipops too. Beats what I bought for lunch from the vending machine wheel of death.
For school field trip my mom would always make me a torta at the time I use to hate it cus every one else had lunchables now I am 30 I enjoy everything she cooks ❤

I even had a kid try to make fun of me cause my mom brought me lunch when she could. Hot and fresh. Like what are you making fun of? The love and care my mom has for me?

I like the Honduran style tamales!
Wrapped in banana leaf with the whole chicken cut up in it, bones, skin, head and feet. Best bricks I have ever eaten.
Those type of tamales are found in the southeast of Mexico, in the centre and some parts of the north they use corn leaves instead.

I had never had them with banana leaf wrap before I met my current boyfriend and his mom. Let me tell you, they are AMAZING but a ton of work so I try to help these days. I don't know if its traditional but she puts green olives in them and I really like the pop in there.

we do but it's not the same it doesn't feel like the food i had there, so maybe it's less a not good Mexican food thing as much as we don't have enough Mexicans here to get them to bring home ((we don't got the gooood stuff, looking at you cilantro and limes)) here, ain't No Pepe's here, some once told me and this was about Asian cuisine, when you go to chinatown in new york, don't go where the signs are the flashiest, go where the cooks from those places go for dinner, heck best Pakistani place ever was a hole in the wall in brighton beach, and you'd find every cab driver there for a quick nann and kabob, Wisconsin, well your getting cheese curds if you want what the cooks eat, the best part of a different culture almost always seems to be new foods and ideas of taste, so to get that awesomeness you kinda need some of that culture around

My mom would make the meanest flour tortillas in the Community. And of course that was for lunch: potato and chorizo, chorizo and egg, carne deshebrada in green salsa or machaca con huevo and chile serrano, etc (middle school) Everybody wanted to be BFF w me bc they used to buy lunch from the cafeteria. Of course my mom passed the recipe to me and, to this day, I have to make my own not store bought. Delicious !!
When we moved from southeast Asia to the states ,I would packalot of malaysian dishes for my kids . Guess who ended up eating it ? My kids friends .I would even pack extra for them .thank God they were not fussy kids .
