- This is from a compilation tape of various Go-Gos TV appearances I was sent by a friend in America,of promotional work for their then new album, "God Bless The Go-Gos". There are a few problems with the sound and picture quality etc,sorry about that,but that's how I got it. Nevertheless,it's just great to see them play!
Jane really is appealing because she really is just always being her true self.
The bass lines are perfect: simple yet melodic and they give "Our LIps are Sealed" exactly what the song needs.
Kathy managed to achieve that almost every time, every tune.
The bass is the foundation in every band! That's why I play it too! 🎸

Kathy Valentines bass lines are amazing! She’s so underrated
Kathy played (plays) guitar in every band she's ever been in, except for this one (of course, she's fabulous at that too). Starting with "We've Got the Beat" and going through their catalog, her bass lines make most of the Go-Go's songs... I think the only Go-Go's song on which she played guitar was "Good for Gone".

This is not a good performance. Song is slowed down and the band is not very enthused. The seem flat. This is the slowest version they ever did of "our lips are sealed." They seem to be going through the motions.

They said they have the same energy but played a slower version of the song.
Close to studio version. Which i prefer. Live is usually faster to fit into a time constraint. Not the case here though.
I'm guessing Jane doesn't live in a trailer park, even if she's not kicking around a mansion. Every time some radio station plays "Our Lips Are Sealed", Jane gets a check. Same with "Vacation", "Rush Hour" and "There But for the Grace of God." So I suspect she's doing OK.
Maybe she still lives in a mansion but keeps her lips sealed about and she takes vacations from it.
It doesn't Matt Lauer anyway.

I used to like Matt Lauer but he's revealed himself to be quite a jerk.
I stopped watching him on the network news early on. Before Ann left.. they were going to a break and I distinctly heard Matt say "you're such a pussy" barely a few seconds had passed from the time the segment had ended...I was done that quick. Wasn't long till Ann was gone and the shuffle began. It didn't surprise me that he was charged with being lewd...

Extra verse in Lips Are Sealed that I haven't heard before. Not the best preformance - Caffey's guitar is out of tune but that happens live. Kathy Valentine's bass sound kicks ass though.
I noticed the extra verse...if you had their "Beauty and the Beat" LP, the album sleeve has the lyrics to all their sleeves and it shows the extra verse.
Kathy's bass seems to always kick ass. It's crazy how she pulls it off.

@Nyet Nine I agree though we are both gonna get a lot of hate by saying so. LOL. Actually Heart is one of the rare examples where the Wilson sisters sounded good well into their 60s. But they are an anomaly.

I kind of wonder if the singer was singing with a cold, it was not that great. I think one of the musicians sung better than what the singer did to my understanding. I followed the singer closely and realize I think the singer can sing better just as much as real famous singers can- the singer needs to improve the ability to sing. The first time I heard the singer sing I think the singer sang quite well. If the singer wont improve then maybe the singer should let one of the musicians sing. Strange why I discovered the singer sing quite well the first time I heard the song sung.
